Terrible customer service. I called to ask for some assistance on a billing issue, I was charged twice for an appointment I went to. I was told I could talk to the manager Aaron. When I spoke with her on the phone she seemed very annoyed that I called. She was very rude. She told me not to call back that she wasn't going to waste her time and that I need to figure it out myself! I don't understand how she act like this with returning customers and still be employed by this company. I will not be going back There are much nicer places to go in Chico. I just answered an automated call from them stating I had an upcoming appointment. The thing is-I have no idea of what it's for or about. I've called the number back and cannot reach a person. Worst. Experience. Ever. Dr forgot to call in my antibiotics for bronchitis twice. Dr said, "no news is good news" and then a few days later left me a voicemail saying she needed to go over my test results with me and I've now been waiting 4 days (7 voicemails, spoke to on call dr, answering system, AND receptionists) and still haven't gotten a call back to find out my lab results and now it's the weekend. AWFULLLLLL feeling!!!!!!! Then, when I called to see if my medication (insulin, type one diabetic) could be transferred to a different pharmacy closer to me that was just refilled 3 days prior I was told by a different Doctor here to "go to a clinic" to get my diabetes medication (even though it was ready at my normal pharmacy I just needed it to be transferred to a different one closer to me??) and then the receptionist hung up on me AND said she would have Dr. Stark call me and he never did (my pharmacy was able to transfer it to the one closer to me, so I got my diabetes meds without their help. And with no communication from them). When I had my mom call on my behalf after leaving 4 voicemails about needing my insulin ASAP the receptionist (Ali) told her confidential information about what I had done at my last visit that had absolutely NOTHING to do with my diabetes. With that being said, I filed a complaint for the hipaa violation for breaking confidentiality with the civil rights department of human services and filed another complaint with the board of medicine for telling me to go to a random clinic instead of just assisting with the diabetes medicine transfer like Enloe pharmacy happily did for me. So disappointed to pay so much money to not have my calls returned within a weeks period, to be hung up on, medication forgetting to be called in, confidentiality broken, etc. I truly have never had an experience like this in my life. I've had diabetes for almost 15 years and have had insurances like Kaiser, even MediCal when I was a minor, and I have NEVER ever seen a place more unprofessional. Have two prescription renewals pending and still haven't got them. I tried for two weeks to get one. Their voice mail is insulting when they tell you to contact your pharmacy. This is the second time this office has done this to us. Mad as helicopter too. NO phone call, email, or letter informing us that our PCP-PA is no longer with them. I sat in their dark office for over an hour last year waiting for someone, anyone, to check me in for my scheduled appointment with Dr Turek. I finally approached a receptionist for an ajoining PA, who informed me that Dr Turek was no longer there. My husband had been an by Stuart Mishelof 3 days prior, so I requested to be transferred to him. Oh no. Stuart wasn't accepting New Patients. What? We had to petition for them to add me on with my husband! Today I called to confirm an appointment in September. No notice, no email, phone call, letter, nothing! Stuart Mishelof is no longer with Argyll Medical group either! We NOW have to complete New Patient Applications for Mission Ranch Primary Care, where Stuart has transferred to. None of our appointments or records transferred with him. The receptionist for Mission Ranch was so understanding and kind and above all, apologetic for Argyll's treatment of their patients. Is this a California Thing? Well, it IS insane, so maybe yes. Shame on Dr Roy Bishop. Not a way to run a practice. Bad. Just incompetent and bad. read more

Nurse Practitioner Ann, is the best!!! She took care of me. Took the time to assess what I needed and made time for me and my situation. I came her multiple times and every single time, the care I recieved was excellent and I couldn't have been happier. They were extremely fair priced and I saved so much money by coming here. I saw Laura De La Cruz, FNP, for an initial session to address sciatica. After going to different doctors in and out of town with poor bedside manner and other negatives, I was frustrated and eager to find quality medical care. Laura was so personable, professional, and, best of all, thorough! She took her time discussing all my concerns and performed a comprehensive physical exam to make sure nothing was going on that was an emergency. Laura is caring and knowledgeable and I am so glad I found her as my new FNP. I also appreciated Julie in Dr. Stark's front office and Bonnie, as both were delightful and very helpful. Stuart is amazing. I once told him, "You are kind of an old lady with your concerns aren't you?" He agreed with me and it was a GOOD thing. He is the only one who caught my wife's heart condition. She would have died otherwise. This is NOT an exaggeration. No other physician cared about her "minor issue" but Stuart made kind of a big deal out of it and saved her life. I went to Stuart and complained about a chest pain. He freaked out (okay, not exactly but he treated it as a major thing) and he sent me for other tests. I had a Pulmonary Embolism. I could easily have died. He put me in the hospital RIGHT NOW and was right to do so. Holy Crap! Stuart will take care of you. He wants to know WHY you have poor test results. He really freaking CARES about you. That's not "normal" these days. He's like the old-time physician who really cares about his patients and will go the extra mile to make sure you get the best possibly care. I really can't say enough good things about him. My wife and I are soooooooooooooo lucky to have found Stuart to be our health care professional. read more

I adore Dr. Afsari! I hadn't heard much about Argyll except the spotty Yelp! reviews, but I really wanted to establish care and she seems to be the only PCP accepting new patients. So, I scheduled appointments for my husband and I. On arrival, we were greeted sweetly by Dr. Afsari's staff. The secretary was efficient and kind, as was the RN. The paperwork was thorough and all pretty standard. On meeting Dr. Afsari, she greeted us with a genuine smile, handshake, and open ear. My husband and I both did a lot of talking and I really appreciated the fact that she asked to hear more from my husband - evidencing a clear dedication to her patients' concerns. She was open to discussion of a variety of topics and is obviously well educated when discussing her recommendations. I felt we both were completely listened to, not just heard, and she didn't rush us in the slightest. My husband and I both appreciated the fact that she is pleasantly conservative with medications and supportive of alternative therapies like herbal remedies and breath work. Too often I feel like we are rushed and forced into pill popping when finding a simple cause and making basic, healthy changes could be the better fix. Dr. Afsari was fully supportive of a need for more exercise and well-rounded diets, which is another excellent sign of a practitioner who cares about patient HEALTH vs. problem treatment. Though she was conservative with medications, she was responsive and open with diagnostic labs, tests, etc. and seemed to really want to find answers to our concerns. As an RN, I went in hoping she'd order a few things and she did that and more. She also didn't fall short on patient education, which others tend to ignore. Overall, I am thrilled to have met Dr. Afsari and am pleased to call her my primary care provider. It's nice to know my husband's in such good hands. This man is amazing. There is a reason that Stuart was named Best of Chico health care providers and it's Stuart's warmth and care. His staff is obviously as dedicated as Stuart is. We never feel rushed and she is very thorough. She is always available for follow up questions and help. I found that filling prescriptions now is no longer a problem. The front desk staff and medical assistants are very friendly and competent as well. I was actually surprised how comfortable the office is and how little time we have to wait for our appointments. Stewart Mishelof is fantastic. I've seen him multiple times over the last 4+ years and he has always been professional and courteous. A different specialist doctor misdiagnosed a condition and prescribed medication for it. Mr. Mishelof was extremely thorough and turned over every leaf in order to give the proper diagnosis and prescription. This is a mixed review: Zero stars for Shirley Huffman, PA. She is horrible!!! No personality. She's all down to business and doesn't listen to her patients and has made mistakes on prescriptions. I was seen three times by Laura Taylor, P.A. At each visit, I requested copies of Mrs. Taylor's notes, as well as any lab work. They said it would be no problem. To this day, I still haven't received anything, except the invoices for each visit. The communication between staff and patient has been ZERO for me!!! When I call, they say they have to take a message and pass it on, and that someone will get back to me. That has never happened. Not once have I gotten a return call, in regards to my requests. The place seems so unorganized. Someone in the office also mis-communicated my medication instructions when they sent it to the pharmacy. If I hadn't already known how this certain drug is dosed, then I would have never discovered the error. When I called their office, they acted like it was no big deal. I decided to go somewhere else. The doctor I'm going to requested my records from them, on June 11th, and they also haven't gotten a response. I don't want to pay to repeat lab work, but at this point, it appears I have no choice. This place has been the most unprofessional medical office I've ever been to. I would not ever recommend going there. I have also tried to contact the person in charge there, so I could discuss this issue with him/her. When I asked the receptionist who to direct my complaint to, she said, "That's a complicated issue." What is that supposed to mean??? I've had enough!!! read more

I was diagnosed with ALS at UCSF in January of 2018. Since that time I have totally lost my speech, had a feeding tube put in since I couldn't swallow and am quickly losing my mobility. The diagnosis is not at all comfortable, but it is what it is. In early April I spent five days in the hospital because of vomiting and pain in my stomach. I improved so I was released and asked to see my primary care physician in a week. We lost our PCP about three years ago when he moved from the area. We spend much of our time in Idaho and that is our primary residence. The doctor at Enloe was kind and made an appointment for me at Argyll Medical Group. The one we were to see was Maureen Breese. She is a PA which was fine with me. Three minutes into the appointment she said that UCSF frequently made poor diagnosis and she felt that I had Lyme Disease. My husband told her I had been tested for that and it was negative. She wanted me to get three different antibiotics, take them for ten days and then get a special blood test. Also wanted me to take organic food, puree it and use it instead of the Formula I have taken for 15 months. She never mentioned my 5 days in the hospital or anything about the ALS center at UCSF. We left and will never return. When I got home I read that she specializes in tick diseases and nutrition. I refuse to go to someone who thinks I'm in her problem area. There is NOTHING that indicates it isn't ALS. This appointment was all about her and not me! read more

Dr Meyer... You are a great Dr, but please oh please do something about your staff. Otherwise I will find a new Dr. I get billed continously over and over for medical I had paid for two months ago. I repeatidly have to call and only to talk to your rude staff. They DO NOT return refill authorization in a timely matter. Pharmacy & myself has to keep calling your office only for them to blame the Pharmacy that they did not get the fax???? I have seen for myself from the pharmacy, date and time when and where they had sent the authorazation. The staff at Dr. Myers is rude. The Doctor himself is rude. They make you wait over an hour for an appointed time and on top of all of that, Dr. Myers pushes some seriously expensive MLM vitamins that he says are an "absolute necessity". It was uncomfortable from the start and borderline abusive. They also want to make you believe that he is the only endocrinologist in Chico. That is a flat out lie. I am very happy I found a new place to go for my daughters Type 1 diabetic needs. Don't waste your time with this doctor who is on his way out. He should have retired years ago. read more

Dr Stark was first recommended to me in 2016, and at the time he wasn't taking new patients but made time to see me. Since then he, and everyone at Argyll, have been the most compassionate and thoughtful providers I've had in a long time. I have complex care needs and Julie, Ali and Ed have been amazing. A good doc is hard to find, but a good doc with great staff support is even rarer, and it's really his whole team that helps carry me between visits. I never wait on hold or have to deal with rescheduling issues, I don't wait for an appointment, my meds are always ready, billing is always transparent and correct, and Dr Stark is ready and willing to listen to my concerns and support my health and wellbeing with practical solutions. I'm listened to and cared for with compassion by everyone I've met at Argyll. The office is run efficiently and kindly, and that's rare. Thank you, Dr Stark, and everyone at Argyll. Lifting my rating back to my initial impression of Argyll, as a whole. With the situation that prompted me to write the below review- I stand by an initial rating of a 2 (that's being nice) for Dara McKinley, NP**** My rating is not specifically intended for the group as a whole, I have seen a few of the providers at this location and had no issues or qualms until one amazing provider left and another took over his practice- Dara McKinley, NP. Beware!! Her bedside manner is terrible, she was blunt, rude, and not empathetic at the least. One time, she blindly approved an authorization for a refill early on a medication and when I called to let her know that I really needed it filled- my pain levels were higher than usual due to unforseen circumstances- i was also on a very low dosage...her staff went from promising the refill to proceeding to "take back" the Auth and stated I would have to come in for an appointment. Fine...New condition- I can do that- would have been nice to start there instead of it taking my pharmacy to let you know your patient needed a refill a couple days early. The first sign should have been being asked to sign a pain contract for 30 day supply of low dose T3....okay... i will sign it. No biggie. Weird since ive seen you twice and have been on this for months, but okay. I was taken off guard when I came in for my next appointment where I was offered a cup to test my urine. What?! This was a first in my life- ever....that made me feel like she thought I was a drug seeker... totally not the case! At that time, i had chronic neck and shoulder pain causing serious tension headaches and migraines. She made me feel like my symptoms were not real and only in my head. I had been coming to this practice for nearly two years. She made me feel belittled, uneducated, and uncomfortable. Prescribing blood pressure medications to a person that has symptoms due to low blood pressure to try to curb headaches. I understand it can offer relief in some patients- i have read the studies; however, I get low blood pressure... If it can be avoided I have no desire to take medications... I have my MBA and many years of experience in healthcare- I have done my homework, yet i have always been open to trying new routes to improve my health. Prior to seeing her, I had a couple CT scans, EMS tests, Xrays, blood work, physical therapy, went to an endocrinologist and neurologist. While I was seeing her I was going to a massage therapist, chiropractor and acupuncturist to help manage my pain- all of which are not covered by my insurance. Cash practices- I was in no way faking it. The break up--- I received an appt reminder call stating that if I did not call back to confirm that my appt would be cancelled. So I did not call back and was sent a bill for a no show fee. Prior to receiving the bill, I attempted to remain with an awesome practice and schedule with the Doctor. I left a voicemail stating that I was not comfortable with Dara and would like to see him directly. I didn't recieve a call back. I called to followup and was advised on the phone that Dara had released me from care due to no show appointments and not following her advise. That I would recieve a letter with more details. I never did recieve the letter; however, I am grateful that I have found a provider that does not throw drugs at their patients or speaks to them like they are idiots or slow. My prescriptions are no longer a rotation of try this or try that. Watching what I eat has cut back migraines to maybe 1 every couple months- before I was at 5 a week...I really hope Dr.Stark finds a better NP to work with his patients....As I cannot imagine that I am the only one that left...There are many talented and empathetic physicians here that dont make you feel like cattle being moved in and out of the exam rooms just to get a pay check. Scheduled an appointment with a provider, showed up and was told there was no appointment on record. They of course have a record of my call, registration information, etc but no appointment. After my initial call I immediately requested time off and blocked out my calendar the day I made the appointment. Was told I would have to basically wait two more months to see anyone. I wasted my time by leaving work early. Also I gave them personal information for no reason (since they have that record with evidence of my call). Some one clearly screwed up which screwed me out of time and money. Maybe the providers are great, obviously can't say. The only reason I give the business two stars is because reception was basically nice. Wish I would have written down who registered me but at this time it's a moot point. My suggestion is double check to ensure they haven't lost your appointment. read more

Dr. Kong-Siball is my regular M.D. I like her very much. She is very knowledgeable, never rushes me, listens, and really spends time to help me with whatever the problem is. Her staff are very warm, friendly and generally efficient. Everyone strives to make you feel comfortable. The only negative: whenever I have a question when I call, I'm told by reception that I have to come in. It doesn't matter what the question is - I have to make an appt. I understand that there are questions that need consultation, but there are some that really don't. Other than that - I am a fan! Dr Meyer is my endocrinologist. I see some reviews saying that he's rude. He's not warm and fuzzy, but he is very knowledgeable and will do everything possible to find out how he can help! He really is focused on taking the time to solve your problem. (He does however have an offbeat sense of humor if you're paying attention.) He spent considerable time filling out a lot of paperwork so I could get the medication I needed which was very important to me! read more

I had to change doctors, picked DR Villasenor, was only there for about two months now he is gone and nobody there wants to take his patients. I have called several times with questions and the people seem like I am inconveniencing them. My advice do not go here unless you need to be treated like cattle. I made an appointment in mid April with Dr Villasenor. I had to wait till the end of May for an appointment. Which is fine. I took time off work to go. When I showed up the lady at the desk told me my appointment was canceled and to call back in a week to reschedule. I told her I already waited over a month. She shrugged her shoulders.... Did not offer to take my number, rescheduled while I was there or anything. I did not receive a courtesy call that the appointment was canceled. She claimed they didn't take my number down when they made appointment. Wasted a day and lost a days work as well. And was treated like it was my fault. I'm very disappointed because I heard Dr Villasenor was a good doctor. Just a horrible experience dealing with his office. I have been a patient of Dr. Roy Bishop for 12 years now and I have to say he is by far the best doctor in family practice that I've ever gone to. Since I have multiple health issues, he has a lot to keep up with and has done an excellent job over the years in making sure that he keeps close communication for any health issues should they arise. He has literally saved my life on more than one occasion and I have no doubt that if I had not had him as my doctor at those times, I would already have died. This is not an understatement! As a long time patient, I find it most useful for any other patient who has more than one complaint, that when they go in to see their doctor to write down any questions they may have or concerns. That way, your doctor is better able to serve your needs as well as be alerted to anything that may be potentially serious. Your doctor is not a mind reader and if you go in and just say something like, "It hurts when I do this or I've been feeling ill," that does not tell him or her details. Another thing is if you have multiple complaints, then when you make your appointment, a more appropriate time can be scheduled to handle those complaints. For instance, if you go in for just a head cold, then maybe you're looking at a 10 minute appointment time, but if you're going in with two or more things to be addressed, then let the receptionist know so that they can schedule more time to address your concerns. It boils down to good communication between you and your doctor and as far as being the patient, one must advocate their needs or if they are unable to do that, have someone go with them who can. I hope this helps any future patients who think there doctors are trying to maximize their profits by hurrying them in and out of their office. i know in this group this is not the case as they operate with very high ethics and that is a difficult thing to find anymore as far as I'm concerned. Honestly, I think this group should rank much higher than 36 then the hundredth and something i saw on another page out of all the area doctors. I'd give them a rating in at least the top ten.. I am sure there are many doctors here, so I cannot speak for every individual one. However, Brandon Stark and Larry Collins are the two I had visits with. First off, there staff is absolutely terrible. The main secretary is disorganized,has a very rude demeanor and no people skills.She would lose paperwork, schedule appointments and then say I had none, would try and force me to pay before I had service and was even due to pay. It was very obvious they only cared about money, and not concerned at all with human decency and the desire to help their patients. These two doctors are very unprofessional, they would not return phone calls, or keep their commitment to schedule proper follow up appointments. All the blonde high school minions who claim to be the medical assistants, are the snottiest bimbos I have ever come across. They made me pay for them to do paperwork after hours, which is unheard of. Isn't that just doing your job? This place is strange in the fact that it seems more like a scam than an actual professional medical facility. The first initial visit, they sold me on buying into what they were offering, claiming it was a necessity. However, after a couple more visits, I realized how they didn't care at all about my well being and health, only that I had money and boy did they get a lot out of me in that short time. I regret ever going here. I advise you to do your homework, and make sure you do not frequent here. This place will treat you as an ATM and nothing more. Please save your money and go to a place that has great word of mouth,outstanding reviews, and do your research! Not all doctors are the same, and neither are the staff! This review is long overdue, unfortunately. I was lucky to become a patient of Dr. Bishop's years ago and I can unequivocally state that I am still alive right now thanks to him. He is very sharp and listens to what you have to say - and that is saying a lot for me because I have multiple issues to discuss. Unfortunately, my health and care are quickly deteriorating, but that is due to government sanctioned torture of patients, greedy insurance companies, etc. and not the fault of Doctor Bishop one iota. He has been the best PCP I've ever had and I've been dealing with serious health issues for decades now and have been seen by other doctors that don't listen and try to tell you it's "psychosomatic"...... until I was finally, and unfortunately, proven correct by way of diagnosis of incurable conditions. Dr. Bishop's staff, Teresa and Vivian, have also been very helpful and compassionate. My biggest anxiety associated with this practice is Dr. Bishop leaving or retiring. It's definitely NOT easy to find a PCP of this caliber in Chico and nearby surrounding areas, especially in the current healthcare climate. read more
