I was very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Mishelof and Mission Ranch. While Dr Mischelhof was fairly attentive during office visits. There was absolutely no follow through. The office staff is so incredibly unprofessional and distasteful to work with I found myself frustrated and offended every time I had to make multiple follow up calls to receive medication's or further care. Specifically, Annette his medical assistant is abrasive and unprofessional. Her demeanor comes off as though you are lucky she is taking your call. Which led to many protracted and inefficient exchanges in an effort to complete the care that was promised. This situation even caused us to be without medically necessary prescriptions. If you have a tele-med appointment, expect him to be at least an hour late every time. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for quality care. read more

Only place I have been where the staff up front is bad and the Doctor is great. I guess that is better than the other way around . The Doctor I see has been great but the front office is the worst I have dealt with so far. Trying to get me to split appointments up so they can charge twice..... Unhelpful over all and not who I want on my health team. The doctor has been great, I never mentioned the staff wanting me to come in twice as I had two issues, the doctor asked me after we were done with the primary issue if there was anything else going on, and I told him, he handled it right away. I have just left my appt with Diane Carlson. I walked out after her comment to me of 'don't put words in my mouth'. I began to see her as a patient after my doc of over 35 yrs retired. I have seen her 3 times and each time she has been rude to me. She has not answered the questions I've had. She's canceled appts with me and I had to wait another month before an appt to go over test results that she never explained why I needed. I will never go back to her. My elderly mother is under the care of Tiffany Carlson. I am a registered nurse and I can tell you from a clinical and medical standpoint this clinician is top-notch! She has been caring for my mother for quite a few years and my mother recently had an acute hospitalization and was followed up again, post hospitalization, by Tiffany Carlson. They have a recording to answer their phones, they never answer. They have an answering service that they never use. I tried for 2 weeks to get a lab slip for blood draw and they had the nerve to ask me for the fax # for Quest. Really???? Said that I did not know so they didn't send it. I had to go to the office and pick it up myself. The girl at the desk then filled it out wrong...wrong name, wrong codes. WTH is wrong with that place? Maybe hire some people that can run the front desk. Will be finding a new doc. read more

I have gone to Mission Ranch for many years. I have been treated by several doctors there, but primarily with Dr Nelson. Every visit was professional and several times probably saved my life. I cannot recommend this professional group any higher. I've never experienced rudeness by main office staff or on the phone as I don't expect the doctor to pick up my call immediately. In fact, at the end of a busy day I would get calls directly from my doctor as she takes the time to listen to and respond to her patients. Of course she defers some calls to her Medical Assistant to the next day if it is warranted. If they had problems with front office staff, that staff is counseled and/or released. I wish you good luck if you try to find a better, more profession group of doctors in Chico. read more

This physicians establishment does NOT answer their phone!! After you call, the message prompt will tell you "all operators are answering other calls" BS. There are 3 ppl to answer phones... that being said, you cannot even schedule an appt for yourself. My physician is there, and sadly he is not as competent as he could be. He lacks!! I absolutely love Mission Ranch Primary Care. I see Shirley Huffman and she is probably the best medical care giver I have ever had in my 77 years! She is patient, explains everything in terms I can understand, is extremely compassionate and extremely thorough and competent. She absolutely follows through on everything and if she is worried about you, she actually calls! The office personnel are all very professional and competent. Another great convenience is that they have a lab on the premises, so I don't have to make extra trips elsewhere for this. I highly recommend this medical care office They are the best! read more

Took a while for me to learn to work with Dr. Jeffrey Carlson. I think he is just very, very intelligent and tries not to be condescending-that I misunderstood. Now that I have gotten used to his style, I think he is a great doctor. He knows what he is doing and is a really nice man. read more

Would never recommend Diane Carlton! She must have gotten her degree out of a Cracker Jack box if she even has one. First off you have to fill out a patient profile, send it in and then it can take up to 5 weeks for them to decide if they want to "Accept" you as a patient or not. 5 months later you find out you're "Accepted" as a patient and have to wait another 3 months to be seen. I get to my appointment and the CNA treats me like I'm a leper. She stays as far away from me as she possibly can while taking my weight and my blood pressure. Then Carlton walks in the room triple masked, with full face gear on and sits as far away from me as she can. As she is asking me questions about my health history, every other sentence she says, " I need you to pull up your mask." . (My mask was falling a little bit below the edge of my nose). She proceeds to read everything I've already filled out on my paperwork asking me the same questions again. She asked me if I've been vaccinated, and when I told her no, she yells at me" Why,? You know if you get COVID, you're going to die!" ( I was so dumbfounded that at this point I didn't even feel the need to tell her that I had had COVID and survived). I wasn't even sick when I went in but needed established care and I needed her to check out some lumps that I was worried about on my head. When I asked her to look at them she barely touched my head to feel one of them. This is only the second time in my life I have fired a doctor. I will never go here again and I would recommend NO ONE to Mission Ranch Primary Care. There is no care here and Carlton couldn't wait to get me out the door and said to me, "This will be the last time that we are seeing patients until further notice." Oh and since this visit I have found a wonderful primary care physician who had to change many things in my chart that was sent over by Carlton as she had listed illnesses and surgeries that I had never had. I love my PCP Shirley Huffman! I will follow her anywhere. I have only had great experiences with her as a provider. I work in the medical field and have the same office hours so it is difficult for me to get anyone on the phone. Anytime I have left her MA a voicemail she has responded in a timely manner and has been extremely helpful filling medications and getting my lab orders to me. The staff at Mission Ranch have been very friendly every time I have been in for an appointment. There is always parking, I never have to wait long, I am grateful to be in the care of a loving individual that loves her patients and her profession. read more

I went to Diane Carlson to get help with my fibromialgia pain. The only thing she offered was an anti depression medicine, and she treated me like I was making it up. She rolled her eyes at me when I described the pain. I called to ask to get a prescription to have my blood tested for covid antibodies. Dr carlson was rude, treated me like I was beneath her and stupid. She said "you can't test for the antibodies to make a decision about whether you want to be vaccinated or not, you need to just go get vaccinated". As a dr. You do not force your beliefs on a patient ever. That was the last time I called that office. She's extremely unprofessional, RUDE AF, I do not recommend her. Do yourself a favor and find a different practice. I filled out my new patient paperwork in November and the earliest appointment they had was March. Then 20 min before my appointment I get a call telling me they need to reschedule me out another month and a half. Finally on the day of my rescheduled appointment I show up and the front office staff was rude when the told me they had given me the incorrect time for my appointment. They were unapologetic about their mistake and the soonest appointment for reschedule was a month and a half out. So 6 months later I still have not been seen. This 5 star is only for the gal up front Delani. She goes way beyond what someone would expect from her. She will help you out anyway she can. It takes forever to get any of the medical assistants to get back to you or the doctors. I was a patient of Dr. Parrish whom I really liked. She was replaced by the two Drs. Carlson. Initially I went to Diane Carlson and would never ever recommend her to anyone. I needed some tranquilizers after the Camp Fire destroyed my home. When I asked her for the prescription she made me fill out a form swearing that I would not ask any other doctor for opioids. I wasn't asking for an opioid! She wasn't happy about prescribing anything that was controled (even tranquilizers) and switched me over to Jeff Carlson, her husband. I am SO very glad she did. Dr. Carlson is wonderful, he takes time to listen and discuss your conditions and your options. I would definitely recommend him. read more

This is my first time writing a Yelp review but I've never stormed out of a doctors office until my visit with Dr. Diane Carlson. She is truly the worst doctor I've ever experienced and I highly advise finding another one if you're searching. She was the only doctor accepting new patients when I needed one (I wonder why) and it took four months for me to get an appointment. When I finally had my first appointment, Dr. Carlson was wildly off putting and offensive. She was combative and couldn't care less about what I came there for. She will argue with you and refuse to expand on the things she's saying. It's like pulling teeth but you're the stupid one for not understanding professional medicinal practice. Her communication skills are lacking to say the absolute least. During my second visit that lasted no longer than 5 minutes, I was looking for a referral. After much attitude she advised that I "manage my expectations" and then randomly sent a referral. When I asked where and to whom she'd sent it, she "couldn't remember" who she had literally just referred me to seconds before. It was just bizarre. She continued to be purposely short and withhold information from me. I grabbed my bag and walked out mid appointment as she stayed silently typing on her laptop with no intention of resolving the tension. I hope other patients searching for reviews know that they're not alone in experiencing this doctor. She is in the wrong profession for someone with zero compassion or communication skills. She is seriously doing Chico a disservice by being a doctor. The other employees have been pleasant and from what I've heard most of the other doctors are as well. She seems to be a bad apple which is unfortunate because it's definitely costing the office business. read more

Called to see if I could be a patient and they said they were taking new patients. The receptionist asked which insurance company I was with (not anything else, just how I was going to pay) and I said I was "self pay" and had no insurance. She then said "we're not taking any private pay patients". So, its about billing the insurance companies high prices, and not taking care of someone's family medical needs. I even said I would pay the full bill at the time of the visit. Didn't matter. This is why we have a crisis. This professional medical group is unprofessional. For 1 month they mislead me to believe I could be a patient of this medical group. I filled out a new patient packet and returned it to them. They told me they had 2 new doctors starting September 1st. On September 15th they said that all of the doctors at this medical group said No without any explanation. I fail to understand the bad reviews, Dr. Nayduch has always given me the time needed, never rushed and always listens. Julie is simply the best! Yes the front staff could improve they barley make eye contact let alone offer a smile but they have never been rude or unprofessional. Mission Ranch is a well run and professional medical office where I've worked with two physicians, one great nurse (Julie) and numerous office personnel. I'm generally healthy, so I don't go in very often but they've been my primary care facility for ten + years. They return my calls and have a lab on premises that is convenient and friendly, too. read more

Was assigned this place by my insurance company. Called to schedule a checkup, was told I had to fill out new patient paperwork. That is normal and expected; however, they force you to come in and pick up the packet - so now I had to drive there and stand in line - other offices let you download and mail it in or will mail it to you - but anywho, I return the paperwork and then am told "we will call you once we 'clear' the paperwork...." I waited three weeks, then called, am told it will be "..after the holidays" that they'll call me. Five weeks later, all the paperwork done, still no appointment. This place is a joke! Finally, I get an appointment for a routine physical. I hadn't had insurance for a few years, so I wanted to make sure I get a physical exam for anything that could go wrong sight unseen. The nurse does the routine blood pressure and weight check. I then wait for the Doctor to arrive. Dr. Furst comes in and brings a laptop. He does not once touch me but ask me questions about my eating habits, diet, and exercise. He asks if there is anything wrong or if I want to have anything checked. I tell him that I am not aware of anything and he hands me a checklist of lab work to be done and is on his way. Whatever happened to actually conducting a physical exam? I think doctors should do a head to toe routine physical, and check any areas of the body a patient cannot see themselves, is common to have complications, or hey - the patient could be too embarrassed to bring up that rash down under (I don't have a rash, but you get my point?). You want to trust your doctor and their judgment, so when things go wrong and you're too embarrassed to bring them up, an ACTUAL PHYSICAL TOUCH by your doctor can bring forth a wealth of information and build trust. Overall, I was disappointed. I could have just filled out the questionnaire by myself and given the blood work authorization from the nurse. No doctor necessary. read more

This place has turned into a patient mill. By that I mean, they have too many and try and process them through like cattle. Appointments are booked weeks out, and even with one, you will be sitting awhile before they get to you. Dr Lim is knowledgeable but overwhelmed. He jumps from one room to the next trying his best to clear people out. Waiting an hour to see him and having a five minute visit is the norm. with my regular great doctor out I was told I could see Dr Furst. Not only was he condescending, did not introduce himself and did not smile. He told me I just a cold and there is nothing he can do for a cold. I obviously thought it had turned into something worse or I wouldn't have spent the money to set up an appointment, I don't have insurance and so do not go to the doctor unless I am very sick. Wow. I have been using MSPC for a few years and have nothing but high praise for the staff, and my doctor, Dr. Jennifer Parrish. I have always gotten my appointments when I needed them, had a very short wait when I show up and they are all great at follow-up and calling me back when necessary. Called and was told that 2 doctors were accepting new patients and that I would need to come in for paper work. I made a special trip in and was given the extensive paper work to fill out at home. Made another trip to take the paper work back and because of some of the posts I read here, I ask the receptionist when I would hear something. She said it would be 4 to 6 weeks as they had a lot of "applications". After about 3 weeks I got a faded form letter in the mail saying they were sorry but they couldn't accept me as a patient. No reason given. I've got minor health issues and Blue Shield insurance. I haven't a clue as to why they make you do this and what will qualify you as a patient. Very unprofessional and uncaring way to sift for patients. A total waste of my time and energy. read more

They don't value a patient's time. The reason I make an appointment is so that I can plan my day appropriately. I understand they have things come up but some simple communications would be all that is required to ensure the patient is informed instead of leaving them in the patient room for 35 minutes with not a word from the staff or the doctor. When I left the room and spoke with the doctor, I was rudely informed there was an emergency, which I can understand. But apparently nobody in the office could take 30 seconds to at least inform the waiting patients that there would be a delay.
