If I could give 10 stars I would. We stumbled upon this culturally rich and vibey black-owned…read morerestaurant today. The ambiance was beautiful inside and out. The Tuskegee Airmen mural on the side of the building told me that I was in the right place. Upon entering it reminded me of both my NYC and southern roots- from the beautiful woodwork, to the vibrant artwork, to the immaculate service from Estelle and her husband. They gave us a tour as well as a history rundown of the business and its owners. Now- on to the food. CHILEEEE!!! We started off with the spicy empanadas. They were delicious and not too spicy. They were juicy and seasoned to perfection. The sauce that comes with it is delicious! Me and my best friend had the boss lady- I had it with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese grits and lawd that is the best catfish I've ever had. It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly fried. Reminded me of my nana's cooking! She had her grits with gruyere and she said it was phenomenal. Now my man had the burger and that thang was beautifully plated and he said it was delicious and cooked just as he asked! He also ordered the roasted potatoes and that boy took his time with them thangs, okay?! This meal was eaten in SILENCE (IYKYK). Lastly, we had the peanut butter chocolate cake. When I tell you I wanted to take my bra off and sit in a secluded room with that whew. I can't wait to go back with more family and friends.

The last item to come out was the fruit, which should have been the quickest out. Luckily, we were there for a girls' day and weren't in a rush, but be prepared. Food was clearly made to order and made with love! Egg on the burger was a little overcooked for what I asked for and same for the special peach cobbler french toast, but both were flavorful. The house was built around 1913 and was renovated to keep that calm elevated aesthetic. Chairs were very comfortable! There's artwork for sale to support local even more. Once a month they do a special dinner pairing with music. I'd give it 4.2 overall.

I think the same server usually waits on us and I wish I could remember her name but somehow she manages to keep track of what everyone is eating and drinking and that's incredible because there are usually 15 - 20 of us. I wasn't able to get pictures of everything that our group had but it all looked great and our server took amazingly good care of all of us. The owner, I believe, came over at the end of our meal to thank us for visiting. We should try to visit Dodge City some evening because the menu changes from a more lunch-oriented / sandwiches / salads one to a more supper-oriented / entree-type one.

My waitress (Danyell) immediately took my order of shrimp cocktail and the prime rib special. The food is where the experience soured. The shrimp cocktail (6 pieces) was cooked well and arrived chilled. The issue I had was with the garlic aeoli, cocktail sauce, and old bay seasoning dust that was generously sprinkled on top of the shrimp. Both sauces were under seasoned and the dry old bay seasoning added an odd texture and taste that detracted from th flavor of the shrimp cocktail. The prime rib was extremely tough, had no flavor, and was missing the cap. This was a big disappointment as I expected more from award winning chef Dougie Krick. The meal included mashed potatoes, however, as they do not offer a baked potato, I substituted for steak fries which arrived greasy. Total with tip was $85. Given the quality of the meal served, not a value. The server was very attentive and frequently refilled my drink without asking.

Although we were able to take a seat immediately at the hightop table which we chose to do. As we peruse the menus, we were greeted promptly with glasses and a fresh carafe of water. Waitress came by within three minutes or so to take our orders for coffee and brunch. We both appreciated the larger sized coffee mugs. I had the Ethiopian Gucci French press, which was absolutely delicious. My girlfriend had a latte which was equally delicious. I opted for the rise and shine with poached eggs, dress greens the waffle and ham. The eggs were absolutely perfect. The greens were good, except there really wasn't any citrus dressing on them, but it worked out with my meal. The Belgian waffle was light and fluffy came with butter, which was more than enough for me. My friend appreciated the hollandaise on her Benedict. She said it was very good. Overall the meal was very satisfying. We had prompt service. The food came out rather quickly. It was hot. The waitress checked on us periodically without being overbearing. We were able to pay via QR code from the receipt, which was nice. We were in and out in about an hour. Has ample parking. Easy in and out of the lot onto 11/15 . There is seating inside while you're waiting for a table and a little bit of seating in the vestibule. They make a quick turnaround of tables. I would recommend it for brunch. Definitely try to get there earlier than 10 o'clock. Overall was a pretty good dining experience.

First Watch's seasonal Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast delivers a well-balanced mix of sweet autumn spice…read moreand hearty savory elements, making it an easy favorite for fall. The star of the plate is the giant pumpkin pancake, which spans nearly half the dish. It features a golden-brown finish, light texture, and just the right amount of cinnamon and nutmeg warmth to complement the subtle pumpkin sweetness without feeling like dessert. A scoop of whipped butter right in the center melts smoothly into the warm cake, keeping every bite tender.  On the savory side, the Jones Dairy Farm chicken apple sausage patties bring a great contrast to the sweet spice of the pancake. They are cooked with a hard sear that creates nice crispy, caramelized edges. The subtle hint of apple in the sausage works surprisingly well with maple syrup and spices, offering a lean, savory bite.  The cage-free eggs round out the meal simple and soft-scrambled, cooked with clean, fluffy curds. They serve as a reliable, neutral protein anchor that keeps the plate grounded. Overall, it is a deeply satisfying and well-portioned seasonal breakfast that executes classic fall flavors without overwhelming you with sugar.

Staff were also on top of things as they brought out drink refills before we needed them. My Wife got the stuffed French toast and she said it was delicious. The French toast was cooked really well and it was loaded a lot of cream cheese and fruit. When I asked my Wife if anything in particular stood out, she said it tasted like it was home made. I went with the baked oatmeal, which had coconut flakes, raisins, cinnamon, and had slices of banana and strawberries. I thought it was pretty tasty, but there are bottles of syrup on each table and drizzling some over it really hit the spot for me. This is definitely a spot that we'd go back to, especially since the is sizable. The menu offered a lot of other options, including crepes, and I feel confident that their other items would also be good.

I've been driving past Morning Fuel on the Carlisle Pike for the last few months. I'm a frequent…read moredriver out that way and every time I passed it, it always looked closed. So I wasn't sure if it was one of those businesses that kind of flopped and nothing had replaced it yet. Alas, I recently found out that it is, in fact, still open. And you know what they say: don't shop on an empty stomach. I was on my way to karns, and I concur. I decided to stop at Morning Fuel so I wouldn't make any hasty purchases while shopping. So I walk in, and the first thing I notice is the music. It's blaring early-2000s-ish rock music. Think Evanescence. Pseudo-angsty music, basically playing at the volume you'd expect in a club. The decor is like a really corny First Watch (live laugh love signage and pictures of measuring cups filled with grains) perhaps with little more edge. And there are straw wrappers and bits of food on the floor, kind of like the Texas Roadhouse peanut situation, except it's not peanuts. Shortly after I was seated, they swept the floor, so I'm assuming it wasn't intentional lol. So, yeah. First Watch on crack? Maybe? First watch's angsty step sibling? First Watch with obnoxiously loud music and a little harder of an edge. And honestly, First Watch and Morning Fuel are part of the same genre. You know what you're getting. And the genre is over priced diner. As far as the food goes, I got the stuffed French toast with blueberry drizzle, and it was really good. It did its job. Nothing spectacular, but a perfectly good breakfast. Overall, I'd say Morning Fuel is pretty average, but these places are kind of a genre unto themselves, and I can see why people like them. It was also a little cheaper than First Watch, which I like but don't really go to. This would not be a recurring haunt for me by any means, but I think it will be for some people. So if you like Evanescence and nu-metal more than you like the Jonas Brothers and other corny folky music, that's what they're playing at Morning Fuel. If you like black floors and a little less of a rustic vibe, that's what Morning Fuel is about. If you like the product that First Watch serves but don't necessarily like the First Watch vibe, you can go to Morning Fuel. Similar kind of product. Packaged differently. Maybe a little cheaper.
