It was right up there with the very worst experience I ever had. I went to have a hair cut on short hair, and highlights. I noted twice that I wanted when someone looks at me to experience blonde. I came out of there, apparently not having been heard, with dark hair a horrible color and not at all what I wanted. And the cut? Well it was a chop job, no notice taken when I stated that I had two crowns and cowlicks ( I would expect a stylist to take those into account but no). I said that I did not like the color and that it was too dark and she argued with me! Am I not the customer here? So I decided to contact the stylist for a color correction only to be told that it would be another $200 on top of the $300+ I already paid. Are you kidding me? And again arguing with me!!!!!!!!! This is my wallet and I am horribly dissatisfied with both the color and the cut. In my opinion people need to know what they are getting themselves into here! I will never ever darken their door again!

The stylists are quite good at what they do but the professionalism is lacking (starting service 15 mins past the appointment time, taking personal calls on their cell phones while performing services, and sometimes sharing really personal information). I often take the day off work and schedule my hair appointments first thing in the morning when the salon opens because the salon is so far from my house and it turns in to a day event. I'm fairly punctual and always arrive 5 mins before my appointment time. Each time I have come in for a service there is never anyone there before me and I have to wait in the hallway until a stylist shows up at 10:00 or 5 mins past. Not the worst thing, but a bit annoying. Today I booked an appointment for 10:00 am on Friday before a long weekend and the same thing happened again. No one was there. Another employee showed up a few minutes after 10:00 and let me in but explained she did not know where my stylist was. I waited in the salon for 20 minutes while the other employee tried to get a hold of my stylist and the owner. The owner finally called and said there was an emergency and the stylist would not be coming in. The employee started to cry and asked if I could come back later in the afternoon and unfortunately I was not able to because of other appointments I had scheduled. I left my name and number for the owner to call me when she got in and left the salon. 6 hours pass and still no call from the owner. I call back at this time and the owner answers. I explained that I was upset with how this morning went down and that I understand that emergencies come up but I was very inconvenienced by taking the day off, driving across the city and not being able to have my service done. I explained that I booked the day off to get the service done because I have family coming in from out of town for the holidays and then I leave for vacation on the next business day. The owner apologized but took a bit of a defensive tone and explained the stylist was in the hospital and there was nothing she could do to foresee this happening. I said I completely understand that and asked if there was anything the salon could do to compensate for my inconvenience. The owner said she can't offer me anything over the phone but could discuss the possibility of a free service next time I come in but it would have to be in the next day or two. I explained I had family coming in from out of town and was not available for an appointment until I return from my vacation in 2 weeks. The owner said she can't really do anything for me in that timeline and again that she has no control over an emergency. I felt a bit frustrated with the response from the owner as it felt really unprofessional and defensive. I completely understand that emergencies come up but I am expecting service to be done at my appointment and felt like an apology should have been made and the salon should have tried to accommodate my schedule to make up for the missed service. No other stylists were available at the time and I just had to leave. It's a really beautiful salon but I will not be returning after this experience.

MVP's core market is men, and they seek to please their core market however possible. They provide an array of televisions and video game consoles for your entertainment while you wait, an assortment of magazines to read, an internet connected computer, and a foosball table (seriously). Additionally, each station has a TV which you are provided a remote control for. As far as entertainment goes, definitely the best experience at a salon for me. But how about the cut? Although I've had a couple of bad experiences with new hairdressers, most of my visits to MVP have been successful. Most of my cuts were done by Lubna (who I strongly recommend), but some of the other staff had a hand once and a while. I particularly enjoy the head massage and hot cloth on my face, and of course the haircut!

Please make sure you view my photos & Screen Shots…read more I came in and asked VERY clearly that I wanted platinum blond hair (my hair was already light blond, just had root growth). I said I wanted my under hair all back to my natural color, no highlights. I wanted it to be this way so I wouldn't have to touch it moving forward. My plan was only to do 1/2 head of highlights in the future. The "blond specialist" told me I would see the dark. I said YES that is what I want. I told her not once but 3 times I did not want it natural or blended. When I do braid tails I want to see the difference. So she puts my hair in foils and I'm thinking ok she's doing highlights on top and dark low lights on the bottom. NO she was putting highlights on the under parts too and a few lowlights that didn't even go to my ends. Completely dismissed what I asked for and did her own thing. Aswell she put in a 10 developer which DARKENED my blond hair. I didn't get anything close to platinum or what I asked for. Furthermore my haircut was completely uneven. I had so much gold in my hair. She also didn't do the highlights close to my scalp... they were uneven in many parts so of course I would have to come in sooner and spend more. It's a dirty trick some places do. I had an inch of roots by my part. Also the very few lowlights she did she didn't even put in evenly. I have panels and the ends didn't get any of the color. I have spent everyday hating my hair and felt ripped off spending almost $700 on a hair that wasn't close to what I asked for. On top of this they are jacking up product prices a lot. I got R&Co which they added an extra $20 more than the the company sells it for. After a few uses the cap became clogged to I contacted R&Co with a video showing the faulty product. The product is supposed to be a fine mist and as you can see it come out thick and not a mist. The company emailed me back telling me it is their policy that all salons that buy from them must either refund or replace the product and it would be MY choice which I preferred. I contacted Ari & Blair letting them know I contacted the company and what their policy states. I copied and pasted the email. I asked for a refund to be put on my credit card which they have on file. They refused and told me I could come in and get a replacement. I responded with no, I asked for a refund. It also costs me more money to hop in an uber as I do not drive. Again they are very dismissive and do what they want. Since they ignored AGAIN what I requested I decided to contact R&CO and tell them they are not following policy. This bring me to this negative review which I was on the fence about writing but after their dismissive email I decided no this experience is beyond bad. They are over charging, jacking up product prices, don't listen to what you ask and you will pay more than Vancouver prices for awful looking hair. Good thing Calgary has other places and I have already booked somewhere else to fix the awful hair they gave me. To be honest this has to be the worst hair color and cut I have ever had and the most expensive. I'm actually on the fence about contacting bbb about this.
