For starters the coffee can be hit or miss. My roommate and I decided to only order iced drinks because there's less of a chance of them being messed up that way. The location is great, it's close to work and home so I do find myself coming in often... but for as much as I'm in there, I'd love some intentionality from the baristas. It's not that they're unkind, it's just quite perfunctory. It would be nice if you felt seen and recognized (or at least chatted to) as your waiting on the cashier to finish pouring your drink that the first barista started. As a former barista at Starbucks, I really appreciate the effort given even by a big chain to making each customer feel seen-it's pushed by corporate and you feel if the world over. I would love for the Theory baristas to know my name, my order, maybe ask a little something about me and look me in the eye. #Starbucksthirdplace The acoustics, as others have mentioned in their reviews, definitely leaves a lot be desired. It's LOUD. And because it's popular and tons of Bethel students go there (Starbucks no longer offers outlets, ya know and Theory has plenty ) it would be cool if they made it more 1:1 friendly. I do appreciate the back patio and tables outside the front door however. The food can be a bit pricey, sometimes bland, sometimes delicious... but definitely a wait. All in all Theory adds value to dtRdd, I'm glad to have them. read more

As an Oregonian, I love quality coffee and aesthetically pleasing coffee shops. Theory provides everything to make my little PNW heart happy. I love the atmosphere of the shop and the feeling of community that it holds. It's the perfect place for meetings, dates, or to just get work done. The baristas work quickly to get the drinks made but that's doesn't sacrifice the quality of the coffee. They have an amazing selection of products such as coffee, chai, beer on tap, homemade kombucha (Mama Shari's kombucha is the best you will ever have), and an excellent breakfast and lunch menu! Theory roasts all of their coffee in-house and offers bags of beans to buy to take home with you. I would highly recommend Theory to those visiting Redding and conference-goers. read more

Theory Coffee Roasters is a gem! The atmosphere is so open and inviting, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The coffee is exceptional--rich, flavorful, and crafted with care. I love that they offer plenty of alternative milk options like oat milk, which makes my lattes creamy and delicious. The food menu looks absolutely mouthwatering, with tempting pastries and savory bites that are hard to resist. My only wish is for more gluten- and dairy-free options to round out the menu for those of us with dietary restrictions. Still, this place is a must-visit for coffee lovers! I absolutely love this coffee shop! Their coffee is always fresh and flavorful, and the matcha latte is one of the best I've ever had -- perfectly smooth and not too sweet. The shop has a really comfortable study area with plenty of space and outlets, making it a great spot to get work done or relax for a while. I love Theory! I've never gotten bad coffee here. It's a great place to sit & do homework, meet with friends, or just to grab a drink to recharge. I love the way they are involved with the community, too (Monday night football is a fave, along with having local businesses provide pastries)! Such a great addition to Redding. The only bummer part is the parking. It can be difficult to find a spot in the parking lot, so sometimes it's wise to park down the street and walk. read more

I don't usually go for any sort of sweet drink, BUT I love the ginger beer and espresso. Usually I go with a black coffee and enjoy a refill (which is a perk) while hanging out there. Which you should know that their regular drip and iced coffees are fantastic. Oh, and I love the atmosphere - it's hip and fresh without being intimidating. Theory is a groundbreaking establishment for the City of Redding. Their espresso is phenomenal, their pastries are to die for, and their aesthetic is far beyond any of the other coffee shops in town. The only con when it comes to Theory is the issue with parking. If you're not a local, it would be wise to park on one of the side streets around the building and walk. read more

This is my favorite coffee in Redding. It's spacious and full of light. You can always find a time when there's not too many people and relax or even so when it's crowded it always feels like family. The events they put up are so cool and the collaboration with other local bussinesses and artists has improved this city so much. And the coffee of course, is addictive. read more

My son's (2.5 years) favorite hobby is trains. Mine is coffee. So finding this gem downtown with an outdoor patio facing the tracks quickly became our favorite spot.
