Friday Night Date Night is a sacred tradition in my world, usually involving a solo adventure and intentionally spoiling myself. And on this particular Friday, I was craving a burger. Badly. When I stumbled across THEA's Bacon Brie Pear Burger, I knew exactly where I was headed. THEA was probably the last place I expected to visit for a cheeseburger, given its upscale reputation, but that burger was calling my name! So I made a 5:15pm reservation for one and prepared to pop my fancy THEA cherry. I arrived to a nearly empty parking lot, snagged a spot right outside the door and settled in for dinner. Despite the upscale atmosphere, I felt perfectly comfortable in my jeans and leopard print sneakers. Some guests were dressed up, others were casual and nobody seemed to think twice about my solo dining adventure. I ordered a Diet Coke, the Bacon Brie Pear Burger and upgraded my side to the Crispy Brussels Sprouts for an additional charge. THEA's burger features Wagyu beef from Eleven Oaks Farm, roasted Bosc pears, Brie cheese, arugula, fig jam and a rustic roll. This burger absolutely screamed, "Fall is here!" The beef practically melted in my mouth, while the thinly sliced pears, creamy melted Brie and fig jam created this incredible combination of sweet, savory and cozy fall flavors. It was everything I love about a traditional burger, just dressed up for sweater weather! And the bun? Fantastic! I'm not usually a bun enthusiast, but this one was tall and fluffy with a slightly crusty exterior and wonderfully soft interior. The perfect complement to an already phenomenal burger. Hands down, one of the best burgers I've ever eaten! The Brussels sprouts were equally impressive! Crispy fried baby sprouts drizzled with a citrus honey chili glaze that was perfectly sweet and tangy without being spicy, then generously topped with big chunks of crumbled feta. Skipping the fries was an excellent decision! At one point, I caught myself sitting there in this beautiful, upscale restaurant, wearing my leopard print sneakers, eating a cheeseburger and doing my little happy food dance. Just me, in my own little world, enjoying one heck of a Friday Night Date Night. I could only finish half the burger and Brussels sprouts, so my fantastic waitress happily packaged everything up for me. She was friendly, attentive, chatty and clearly enjoying her work, which made the experience even better. My total bill was approximately $32, which I thought was incredibly reasonable for the quality of the meal. Especially since Future Me gets to enjoy the leftovers! I checked out the dessert options, but nothing caught my attention this time. Apparently, they change regularly, so I'll keep an eye on those during future visits. Pro Tip: My 5:15pm reservation was perfect! Parking was plentiful when I arrived, but by the time I left shortly after 6pm, the restaurant and parking lot were packed. THEA absolutely exceeded my expectations. I went looking for a great burger and discovered one of my favorite meals in a very long time! And I don't care how fancy the restaurant is. Probably the funniest experience I had while visiting Mechanicsburg. My waiter comes to the table, and I ask for a drink menu. He looks at me and says, "Thea is a BYOB restaurant." Before I start to process that statement, the table next to me says, "Don't worry! We have a few bottles of Napa Valley wine. Here, take a glass!" Now that is some City of Brotherly Love vibes! And Thea itself is a beautiful restaurant. Very contemporary, stylish, and modern. But honestly, the hospitality from the table next to me is what made the experience unforgettable. It's late, I have a glass of wine and it's my last night in Harrisburg. I want to have a good meal in a nice restaurant. For my dinner entree I order the Carne Asada Hanger Steak. Man.. Chef AnnMarie cooked that steak to perfection! Tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly right. Every bite was packed with flavor which defines Carne Asada. A grilled hanger steak prepared with traditional Mexican-style seasoning and a blend of citrus, garlic, herbs, and spices. My husband and I stopped in after our son's soccer game in the area, and we're so glad we did. As someone who's particular about food sourcing--especially with beef and lab-grown meat concerns--finding a genuine farm-to-table spot like this has been a challenge. Thea delivered on every promise. It's a smaller, cozy spot, and it's BYOB, which was a nice touch. They also had patio seating with live music the night we went, which made for a great atmosphere. The service was stellar from the moment we sat down, attentive without being intrusive. We split the lollipop lamb chop appetizer and the blackened halibut tacos, and both were incredible. The lamb was some of the freshest I've ever had--tender, juicy, and not gamey at all. The halibut tacos had a nice kick of spice, and the fish was cooked perfectly, with none of that frozen or processed taste you sometimes get. It's been about a year since we were at Thea's so we decided to dine there again for our 10th anniversary. And again, the experience was absolute heaven. AnneMarie actually remembered us from last year and came out to check on us several times. This time I had the veal saltimbocca, the Mrs. had the crab cakes, and the son had the shrimp and pasta. All of these were the best we've ever had. In my humble opinion AnneMarie is the best chef in the world and one of the kindest people on this planet. She had even written a happy anniversary card for us. Our server, Fotini, was excellent as well. Friendly, professional, and took very good care of us. And dessert, gadzooks! AnneMarie put the raspberry cheesecake on a large platter and spelled out Happy Anniversary in the raspberry sauce (see photo). The son and I had the peanut butter oreo pie. All are fantastic. Went to visit our daughter and son-in-law in Pennsylvania and took them to dinner at Thea their favorite restaurant. There were 5 of us. It was on a Saturday so we made a reservation because this place gets busy. Chef AnnMarie stopped at our table to make sure everything was okay. A few of us have food allergies. I'm updating my review but not lowering the rating. We've been here a dozen of times and pretty much always had a good meal. However, I've recently noticed their health score is not good. My daughter and I decided to go out for dinner and just order appetizers. We tried the special which was a crab and corn dip. What we liked about this dip that it was not full of melted cheese like other crab dips. You could see the kernels of corn and the large chunks of crab along with some bacon Pieces. I believe our server was Emily? She was new and did an amazing job. Attentive when needed. We came here to celebrate our Anniversary. This was our first time. I made reservations which I recommend. (A group of three were you able to get a table without any) The menu had a lot of good sounding options. We usually get an app and an entree and share but this time we ended up getting four apps. 3 initially and then reordered the steak medallions. Service was pleasant and good. Shea Quinn was singing. The fries were awesome and a large amount for the two of us. The stuffed peppers were good and the steak medallions we loved and ordered twice. I wish we had asked about desserts earlier. They sounded fantastic and we will have to try them next time. There seems to be a decent amount of parking available. This restaurant is BYOB. The burgers and some of the other entrees all sound good. Really enjoyed how everything tasted. If I had one suggestion it would be nice to have some additional sauces for the fries. Like sriracha mayo or spicy ketchup. I asked for mustard or something else and was able to get Tabasco with ketchup. I recommend this place but not just for special occasions. The atmosphere here is simple elegant. Nothing over the top. Service was good. And the food was good. However, I felt the mussels marinara were a bit heavy in sauce. The muscles themselves were delicate. The beet salad I had was good, but lacking in flavor. My husband's mango salad was delicious. I didn't see anything on the website to suggest that this was BYOB. So patrons be aware. We made a reservation for 4:30 and arrived on time. There was only one other table seated when we arrived, but they seated us at the front table by the hostess desk instead of into the restaurant. When asked if we could be seated elsewhere we were told the restaurant was booked. Honestly, they didn't get busy until 6:15. It would have been nice to have been seated elsewhere. We were leaving before the place was booked up, and frankly there were 6 other booths available when we left. I felt cheated out of a decent table. Although we didn't have a reservation the staff went out of their way to squeeze us in and treated us like royalty! The dining room was beautifully decorated and would make a great location for a special evening. The service was top notch and the food was amazing!!! I highly recommend the shrimp and crab pasta. It ranks up there with some of the best I've ever had. I don't know the procedure for recommending a restaurant for a Michelin star but this place deserves a look. The Salmon with squash ravioli special was very tasty. The salmon was cooked correctly(not over done), the ravioli were excellent, the kale and pomegranate seeds were a bonus for the squash sauce. I might point out that there were several groups of 6+. Calamari was very tender & generous portion, just bit too greasy w/oil pooling beneath it. Green beans, however, were undercooked & frankly overgrown & sadly only option w/o upcharge for veg. Salmon was tender, but could've use a bit more seasoning, or a sauce. Thea is a great restaurant to go to for a sophisticated night out. They are BYOB and often have live music. It is my go-to restaurant when I am celebrating a special occasion. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and nice. The ambiance is a sultry dark american-italian place. The food is also consistent and delivious. I would recommend their brie brulee, crab dip, blueberry cheesecake, and blackened halibut. Came here for our anniversary. Food was bland, we got a ny strip and asked for medium rare and got medium. Our waitress was MIA most of the time, then as we got the check she laid her oh is there anything I can get you lol. It was noisy, they had this couple singing in the lobby area of restaurant they were awful and restaurant was loud. They say us by the kitchen, very inconvenient. Ny strip was $62 and not worth it! We visited Thea last Friday and had a nice dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed the mussels and thought we got a really nice sized portion for the price. I ordered the crispy Brie salad with chicken and loved it. The flavors were excellent and the crispy Brie was absolutely delicious. My friend got the shrimp and crab pasta and also really enjoyed it. I really wanted this to be a five star experience but there were a few things that were less than ideal. First the parking situation. The lot is very small for the number of businesses utilizing it. This is not Theas fault but it is something to be aware of if you come to eat. My husband had one mussel that was grainy was was disappointing. He was really looking forward to his burger as was his friend. Unfortunately, both burgers were dry despite being ordered medium. The burgers seemed to be cooked as ordered with some pink in the middle but overall the dryness was disappointing for both of them. To be honest, we've had better burgers at Red Robin. Not worth the price here Our waitress was excellent stopping by to refill our waters frequently and checking in to see if we needed anything. Enjoyed a fabulous dinner with friends at this lovely restaurant in a newly developed area of Mechanicburg. The menu is creative exploring new interpretations of some classics and presenting new innovative dishes. We enjoyed fried Brussel sprouts, as light as feathery butterflies. Drizzled with balsamic and feta cheese. This is one of the 2 recommended appetizers. The other is truffle fries. Also shares a spectacular Brie brûlée, melted Brie served in a ceramic dish accompanied by fruit jam and slivered pecans, served with toasted slices of French bread. This was delicious. Following that we had a lovely summer salad with watermelon and feta. For entree we had the veal parmigiana with pasta and our friends enjoyed the crab cakes. For dessert we shared a refreshing raspberry sorbet and our friends had a warm bread pudding with ice cream. We had the honor of meeting the chef and owner Ann Marie who named the restaurant Thea as she is Aunt to all. Come enjoy this lovely restaurant and the unique and delicious food in a lovely venue with indoor and outdoor dining. Wow, what a cute restaurant! The interior was very clean and new - it sort of felt like a new house. High ceilings, nice furniture - the aesthetics are there. As for the real part you're here - the food. The food was amazing. I ordered the crab cakes - which were really yummy. I couldn't finish both, they were huge. A person in my party ordered the seafood pasta dish and she loved it. I had a bite and it was very good. Lots of seafood in every creamy pasta bite. A little note on the restaurant's name "Thea" - it's named after one of the chefs and a part owner. It means aunt in Greek. She shared this info with us when she came out to talk about the food. I eat here often, both lunch and dinner, and I don't even live in the neighborhood. The food is always good. The prices are definitely high for many of the dinners but there are also items you can order that are less expensive; salads, handhelds and yummy appetizers. Either way, you can't lose. I had a late lunch here with a friend on Saturday. We arrived at an awkward time where it wasn't quite lunch time and not yet dinner time either, so we didn't end up having to wait to be seated at all. My friend ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with a side salad and I went with the blackened chicken Caesar salad with polenta croutons. I ordered the house-made lemonade as my drink. My friend also ordered the truffle fries as appetizer for us to split. The fries were amazing. My salad was huge and was not that great. The chicken seemed to be a bit over cooked and I didn't think it was seasoned that well. I also was not a huge of fan of the polenta croutons. The total for my meal came to about $30. I think I will try something else on the menu next time because I know this place is quite popular. read more
