I came to my hometown for an extended stay around Thanksgiving and needed to find somewhere to workout. The yelp reviews of the Yoga Loft led me to purchase a 5 class package. I enjoyed the ease with which I could go online and reserve my spot in class and pay right there so when I showed up I didn't have to worry about having cards/cash or there not being room, etc. I will briefly talk decor before I go into my experience with the classes. I have done yoga at places all over the US. Where I go now in Chicago is a chain and is more like a gym. It is a new space, has big bathrooms with showers, etc. Yoga Loft is more what I have experienced at local yoga studios. The space is a bit older (downtown Bethlehem on top of a hardware store), but it is homey as opposed to gym like. The reception area has old couches to sit on, the floors are all older wood. The ceiling is popcorn panels which isn't great, but oh well. There are lots of windows to let in natural light. I arrived for my first class and was greeted by the receptionist and given a quick explanation of where things were and how the studio worked. I have taken 3 classes so far and enjoyed them all. I am used to yoga that is flow and designed more for a workout rather than the spiritual or mental health side of the practice which is where the Yoga Loft leans a bit more but I also got a great workout. I started with Level 1 as I didn't know how my yoga experience where I go in Chicago would translate. It was more basic poses and broken down to a slower pace, but we stayed in the poses for a bit longer which made it more of a workout. The classes are also all over an hour which adds to the endurance needed while I am used to 40 - 60 minute classes that are more intense. The second class was a Level 2 class that offered more advanced poses that I am used to. Like the Level 1, poses were held for a bit longer which added to the difficultly. Doing Level 1 then Level 2 on back to back days definitely left my legs and triceps sore, in a good way. The third class was actually on Thanksgiving and as it was open to all, it was more like a Level 1 class, but alternatives were offered to makes poses more advanced as the room's skill level varied greatly (there were around 50 people there!). I really enjoyed this class, especially the partner poses which were new to me. I can't wait to use my last 2 classes in the package and will definitely be returning when I am in the area. read more

Very skilled, knowledgeable yoga instructor Miriam who takes a personal interest in every student, gives the "why" of our movements as well as accommodations. Added bonus is that Miriam usually begins each session with a verse or perspective that is thought provoking! The other yoga loft personnel I have encountered are warm and welcoming. read more

Great atmosphere and excellent instructor. The studio is very big and was completely full. The practice was very comprehensive including poses that addressed stability and full body strength, as well as focused meditative time. My only slightly negative comment is that there is a slight smell of exhaust fumes, which could be because it's an older building and above a hardware store. It passes quickly and it does look like there is a heavy duty air purifier, so would not deter me in anyway from returning. read more

I am super impressed with this studio. Very large, open, clean space with great vibe. Carrie Morgan @carriemorganyoga does an exceptional job of teaching the correct way to do and transition into a pose using the right alignment and muscle activation. I have been doing yoga for a couple years and with her guidance have learned how to do poses that I have never attempted in the past. The other teachers are great as well, but Carrie's progression with teaching really strikes the perfect chord with me. read more

Nice variety of classes and welcoming environment! The instructors are positive, fun and helpful. I especially appreciate when feedback is given. So far I have taken classes with Scott, Carrie Morgan, Miriam, Rachel, Lori, Lisa, Alka, Larissa(online), Paola(Pilates) , Carrie Hill and Melanie. They have all been fantastic! I am hoping the Fire Flow class with Scott Moss returns on Tuesdays for the Winter!I feel that kept me fit during the colder months and was a lot of fun! I try to get to Ashtanga on Saturdays with Alka as often as I can. Due to my current availability, I go to Scott Moss' and Carrie Morgan's classes on a weekly basis. I like to do a variety of workouts each week. There are also online offerings if you cannot get to the studio, which is great! read more

Aside from climbing up 3 flights of stairs, which I need...lol, (there is an elevator if needed). I love the wooden floor and large room it has a very peaceful feel to it. The owner and Scott make you feel very welcome and are accommodating. read more

The instructor, Scot, is really great. He made the class fun and relaxing while still managing to provide a great workout. I'm an amateur yogi, hoping to gain some flexibility and some strength. You'll definitely at least get some cardio climbing the very long 2 flights of stairs to get up to the Yoga Loft! They offer free intro classes once per month. They are reasonably priced in comparision to other yoga places in the Valley, and I've found everyone to be really friendly. I'm not much of a hippie, so all yoga places are a bit uncomfortable to me. I'm doing yoga for the health benefits, and I could really care less about the cow sanctuary in Bangor or "feeling my inner spirit." I'm taking yoga basics with Peter. He's very friendly and great to work with. Let him know what issues you're having so he can help you find ways to make yoga practice your own. As someone with some limited flexibility issues, it's been great to work with him. read more

I went to the Yoga Loft for the first time last weekend for a free intro to bellydance class. Firstly, the facility seems to be in an old factory which is cool, except that the floor is uneven - not ideal for dancing, especially in bare feet. The bellydance instructor was fun, relaxed and knowledgeable. They offer a variety of courses including several different levels of yoga, tai chi, and bellydance. Prices seem reasonable. read more

I decided to go to this studio on a Saturday morning. I'm no novice but I'm definitely not an expert by any means so I opted to do the Community Class thinking it was more of an all levels class. It ended up being more of a beginner class but it was excellent! The instructor always offered modifications if you wanted to do a more challenging pose or for more experienced people. I found parking to be a little tricky because there aren't well marked signs leading to the lots behind the building. Be sure you park in the lot that has the Yoga Loft sign at the entrance (the sign is little so it's hard to see). I will definitely be back! read more

I have not practiced yoga in a few years and being new to the area I was not sure where to go. I decided to enroll in the beginners series at The Yoga Loft. I am so glad I did. I have never had a yoga instructor explain everything the way Kerri did in our first class tonight. Would highly recommend the Yoga Loft. Visited many times as part of a work fitness plan. Our group of very new yoga participants has private classes with Alysha and I can't imagine a better beginner instructor. The classes are very welcoming, easy enough for beginners, paced just right for our group and still very engaging and educational. If someone is new to yoga or needs relatively low impact yoga, this would be the place to go. As I'm new myself I can't speak to the upper level or more advanced levels, but I would be confident to try it here. As far as the location itself it's located (unfortunately) on the top floor of the building, there are many places to change, and the rooms are spacious and warm. They have all the props and mats you'd need for a group available to you. read more

I searched for 2 years after moving here from California to find a yoga class that even approached the one I had in San Diego, and this one comes closest. I discovered The yoga Loft when my favorite yoga instructor, Jeannette Alosi, decided to teach there (she also teaches independently a Thursday night class in Coopersberg - if interested, you can call her at (610) 282-3492). The Yoga Loft is located above Cantelmi's Hardware store and up a few long flights of stairs, but the trek up the stairs is well worth it. They offer a lot of classes, so do check out the website or call them if you are interested. They also offer other interesting things, like a Zen film series presented by Blue Mountain Zendo. My favorite instructor there is Jeanette Alosi, who teaches Gentle Yoga. She explains things as she goes, always checks to see if you have any physical problems that she needs to be aware of, she pays attention to each student and gently guides you if you are having problems with a posture, always ends with a relaxation/meditation period (which I've found so necessary to complete a session properly and to my surprise not all instructors do it), and she brings a pleasant touch of spirituality to the class, which adds immeasurably to my enjoyment of it. I've tried yoga classes in several locations around the Lehigh Valley, and this is by far my favorite. The prices are reasonable, the offerings extensive and varied, and the people very pleasant to deal with. If one instructor doesn't suit you, there is a long list to chose from. There are many kinds of yoga classes available - Pilates, Pre-natal, Family, Mommy & me, Kids Yoga, Kundalini, Tai-Chi, Belly Dancing - and the list goes on. There are changing rooms and restrooms available, and they sell a selection of clothing, books and other yoga-related stuff. read more

Beautiful, naturally lit space. Teachers are excellent. Class offerings are diverse. Two changing rooms and separate bathrooms, so OK to come for class right after work or whatever. Street parking or lot parking, just don't park at the Ace Hardware lot downstairs. read more

I discovered Yoga Loft during a month long stay in Bethlehem. I love it! I've been doing yoga for years, but had drifted away from regular classes back in San Francisco. This place has got me hooked again. The classes are small, and the teachers are first rate, so I've had the opportunity to practice poses I don't normally attempt. The studio clearly encourages teachers to develop long term curricula for their classes, which gave me a goal to work toward and allowed me to feel myself improve over time. The studio itself is nice and inviting, with wood floors and tea! I'm totally going to miss Yoga Loft when I go back home. read more

I tried the Yoga Loft this morning while visiting from out of town. I've taken many yoga classes in the DC metro area and,in my opinion, this studio rates just as high. I took the Flow class with Laurel. She was a great instructor! She gave great adjustments. The class was a perfect blend of fitness and yogic theories/philosophy. The studio is in an old factory with the original floors. They have a great yoga shop, dressing rooms, restrooms, and large, bright studios. I really liked taking yoga here. I had never done yoga befor and Was curious if i'd like it. I was just going for one session and I liked it so much I ended up joining. It was a really great triaI I had the first couple times. I had wish I had tried it sooner. This is such a great way to start the day or wind down in the evening.
