    Dubai chocolate cake

The Yemeni bean is located in a little plaza across Klein high. When I stepped inside I could hardly believe it was in Klein because of how beautiful the interior was!!! Feels like an authentic Yemeni coffee shop that belongs somewhere in downtown Houston. The lighting is bright yet ambient and there is so much comfortable seating with small tables near outlets to get work done. There is also a glass room which is decorated with a big teddy bear and lots of sofas for a tea party or just to socialize and lounge around. When I went up to order my drinks I was greeted really kindly by the staff and given lots of recommendations. They even offered to make off the menu drinks like a pumpkin chai. I ended up ordering the cinnamon cloud (hot) which came in a cute teacup and design on top! Their cloud drinks have a layer of sweet foam on top of their yemeni/turkish fusion style coffees. The drink itself was quite strong, I would have preferred a little sweeter but it was still good. They dust the top with a layer of cinnamon which I think was a bit too much cinnamon (this is coming from a cinnamon lover). My friend ordered a croissant sandwich which was really flaky and good, and a banana matcha which was topped with a very sweet banana flavored foam and dried bananas. I liked her drink better and the matcha was really good quality. The banana flavor was pretty prominent as well, so if you like banana syrup you'll love this drink. Lastly, towards the end of our study session we were gifted with a Dubai chocolate cake for free since it was night time. I usually don't like chocolate but was pleasantly surprised by the nice crunch of the knafeh pistachio layer in the middle and the moistness of the chocolate cake base. It was just a little hard to cut into because of the fudge topping but honestly can't complain bcs it was free. Overall, beautiful presentation! I'll have to try more of their drinks to have a defined opinion. I definitely will be here a lot to study anyways since they don't close until 12!

The lady who was working, was sitting on the sofa, listening to her phone. I came in and she got up and turned on the tv which had the menu. I placed my order and waited. And waited. And waited. It took forever. The scene from behind the counter was bad. Did not clean. Things looked unorganized and just plain messy. The lady finally had my drink ready. I took one sip and it was awful. Just horrible. The "barista" offered to fix it so I gave her my drink. This is the part that ticked me off... The straw which I had put my mouth on, she removed it when her hand and kept it on the coffee machine. That same straw, she picked it up- after attempting to fix my drink- and was about to place it back into my drink. I told her that I am suppose to be getting a new straw. Got my new straw and took another sip. It was crap again. At this point, I just wanted to get out. Got out, and tossed the drink. A lot of changes need to happen here before I come back.

I was recovering from a cold so I decided to order a hot herbal tea and was happy to see that they had such a huge selection of loose leaf teas to choose from. My friend also got one of their lattes and we couldn't resist getting a tiramisu before leaving. Overall, we liked everything and I think this place is worth a visit for that Kafeina latte. - Kafeina Latte (4/5): The lady told us that this latte was half white chocolate and half pistachio and we could definitely tastes both flavors. I really liked how they put a lot of pistachio pieces in the drink, giving it a crunchy texture. This drink is definitely on the sweeter side though, so keep that in mind. - Nutty Almond Cream Cinnamon Herbal Tea (4/5): I was very happy with the flavor of this tea. Like the name suggest, it tasted very almond-y and had a good amount of cinnamon flavored. There was also a tangy fruity flavor that followed and reminded me of spiced cider. - Tiramisu (4.5/5): I was really impressed with their tiramisu. The mascarpone layer was very nice and custardy, yet felt so light and refreshing. I also loved how strong the coffee flavor was which helped balance out the dessert and made it not too sweet. Service/Ambiance: Upon entering, I was really surprised by how pretty the interior was with the mixture of gold and wood. I'm not sure how pack this place usually gets because I came at an off time ( like 1 pm), but they had a good amount of tables and seating available. I did see a handful of people studying, so I think this would be a good quiet study spot.

The baklava was sweet as it should be. The sweet syrup soaking the bottom of the nut and Pistachio crust was really light and tasty. The phyllo was very flaky and tasty. I ate in the shop so I got to enjoy the real ceramic mug, saucer, plate and metal flatware. Very nice touches to reward you for staying in the shop. The jazz music was a nice volume and pleasant. The staff was very nice. The barista suggested the latte and the other staff delivered the latte and pastry to me where I was seated. Also, a nice touch. Overall, excellent experience!

I understood they were having power issues and were operating on a generator. Their tablet system appeared to be working, as I could see my order while placing it. I was making a large order for my coworkers and needed an itemized receipt. When I asked for one, I was told they couldn't provide it due to the power outage. I then asked if they could pull up my order on the tablet so I could take a photo of it, and I was told "yes, one second." However, after my order was ready and I followed up, the staff member seemed irritated and repeated that they couldn't provide a receipt because of the power issue. I clarified that I only needed to take a picture of the order on the screen, which I thought we had already agreed on. I also didn't realize that every add-on they offer comes with an extra charge. For example, when asked what kind of milk I wanted, it wasn't mentioned that 2% milk (which is typically the default) had an upcharge. Additionally, when a soft top was offered for an iced drink, it wasn't disclosed that it was a $1.50 extra charge. This was frustrating, as these add-ons were suggested by staff without clarifying the additional cost. While the issue was eventually resolved, I left feeling unhappy with the overall experience. I did return once afterward, but between the inconsistent beverages and the lack of transparency around pricing, I don't think I'll be coming back.
