Had a great experience at Yardbird in McAlester. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was excellent, perfect flavor and forgot how much I like Kaiser buns. The fries were also really good, crispy and seasoned well. The owner and waitstaff were all super friendly and made the whole visit feel welcoming. It's a cool little spot with a laid-back vibe, definitely the kind of place I will return to when I come back. Oh and the records being played was a nice touch. read more

The Yardbird in McAlester understood the assignment. The homemade honey mustard? I'd drink it if that was socially acceptable. And the fries... absolutely UNREAL. Crispy, seasoned, and totally unique -- not your average side, they're the main character. Already planning my return. read more

These guys are scammers. They sell you broken junk as "working" take your money then block you on social media. This equipment is not something that can be tested on site so she fed us with this false sense of professionalism and positivity. We thought they were trusting people but that turned out to be quite the opposite of what they are. We are now forced to go back to McCalester to file a lawsuit in small claims court. We'll be seeing you again soon, but this time it will be in court in front of a judge. read more

We had the grilled chicken, southwest egg rolls, and a Cobb salad. the grilled chicken was the best I've had anywhere in a very long time. Service was outstanding and the vibe is amazing. Such a fun spot! They play records when they don't have live music. There's a pool table, they serve wine and beer (some packaged some draft), and have both a lunch and dinner menu. Joe, the owner, was tending the restaurant and bar along with another lady. They were both super welcoming and fun to talk to! The chicken is smoked every morning and is super tasty on the salad. My peer and I sat around for a couple hours chatting and doing homework. 10/10 recommend. read more

This restaurant offers unique dishes at a reasonable price. You won't find anything comparable in southeast Oklahoma. Everything I've tried has been always been delicious! I have eaten here several times for lunch and dinner. It's a lively, casual atmosphere with excellent food and service. Last night we started with the Irish nachos, which are amazing and then moved on to the seared Ahi tuna served with a baked potato and salad and the flatiron steak with the same sides. Every item was cooked to perfection and served in a timely matter. A live band was playing and we had a great night with friends! Other times Joe will put an album on or pull out his guitar for an impromptu performance ! If you're really lucky some of his family might join him! The food here is good! We have eaten here several times and it's always good. Sometimes the chicken seems to be precooked chicken instead of rotisserie or homemade.... So that's my only gripe. Other than that very cool atmosphere and sweet servers! read more

What can I say, I love some good chicken! Packed full of flavor with great diversity. Who knew you could do so much with chicken sandwiches and sliders. A little nostalgic paired with a lot of deliciousness. Today our table started with a seasonal special of fried squash paired with fried okra. So fresh and definitely hand battered for a perfect crisp. This place is well known for its limited offerings of tasty specials so of course I ordered the special, called The Wilbur. Its a sandwich served on toast and stacked high with hot links, pulled pork, fried bologna, and drizzled with a tangy bbq sauce. I paired the sandwich with the creamy yet slightly spicy skillet Mac for a home run combination. The meal was huge so plenty of leftovers to savor the tastiness again and enjoy more bang for my buck. As always the service was amazing, quick, and courteous. I frequent this place often for lunch and have always enjoyed the vintage feel complete with the record player spinning vinyls and filling the air with good music. My all time menu favorites at this local hot spot are the biscuit sliders and the skillet mac. The dirty bird is the best, but get the trio of biscuits and try one of each to find your own favorite flavor. read more

Definitely a hidden gem in McAlester! Joe and the young waitresses are very personable and top-notch service. The dirty bird salad is outstanding and also the club, which I thought I was ordering a salad but it turned out to be a sandwich. My mistake was definitely my gain . Yet another disappointing dining experience in McAlester. We have basically given up on eating out and supporting local in this town because every restaurant is just underwhelming and overpriced. First, there is no phone to call in orders. Weird and kind of a turn off. I just feel like that's so much business lost, many people only get 30 minute lunch breaks, etc. The parking situation is sparse. My grandma had a hard time making it in and out. The most important thing, the food, was a huge let down. I've never had green beans that were too salty but these were so salty that we couldn't finish them. The chicken fried steak was mediocre and the breading slipped off. The biscuit was really dry. I don't understand why every restaurant in this town has such weird hours. This town needs restaurants that are open in the evenings and on the weekends, including Sunday. McAlester needs more variety. read more

We got the Chicken Salad Sandwich & the Yardbird Chicken Club. Both were on very dry bread & had very little chicken or anything else on the sandwiches.
