Grilled chicken with side salad
Marci P.

GET IN MY BELLY!! We made a stop in McAllister on our drive to Arkansas and wanted real food. Enter Yelp peeps who led me here. We had the grilled chicken, southwest egg rolls, and a Cobb salad. the grilled chicken was the best I've had anywhere in a very long time. Service was outstanding and the vibe is amazing. You can tell it's a favorite with the locals! Thanks for a delicious pit stop!

Hospitality at its finest. Joe and Jessica will make you feel that they have known you forever!!! Awesome historic building in downtown McAlester. Weekly/Daily specials available. This is a picture of the Hawaiian Burger. Always a great experience!!!

The Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

Joe does it again! The Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich is amazing! We no longer need to go to Tulsa get a good Philly Cheese Steak, the Yard Bird has the best in the Tri-State Area hands down!

What can I say, I love some good chicken! Packed full of flavor with great diversity. Who knew you could do so much with chicken sandwiches and sliders. Our waiter was humorous and kept us in good spirits. The historic city makes its presence in the atmosphere of this downtown restaurant. Would definitely go again!

It is not possible to find better BBQ than Rustlers. This is the hill I'm willing to die upon…read more Had a platter of pretty much every smoked meat there was in the place, plus two sides. Brisket Pulled Pork Smoked Turkey Pork Ribs Hot Links and finally... Smoked Baloney. Potato Salad, White Mac and Cheese, Texas Toast, Pickle and Onion. Everything was smoked perfectly - even the baloney, which surprised both of us eating there - and absolutely tender. The meats aren't dripping in sauce which is often used to moisten a bad cook or to disguise poor flavors. Nope. If you want a saucy meal, it's a "self-inflicted wound" in my books, because you're missing out on some great well cooked meat. We didn't go there for side options, so reviewing them isn't the point. I did not see either a Corn Bread or a Biscuit choice which I would have chosen, but took the usual's just to see how they're done at Rustlers. I'm not a banana for dessert fan, that is, until my dinner guest forced me to have some of Rustlers Banana Pudding. I am now a rabid fan of banana's for dessert. Yes, it's that good. Don't keep whistling down the highway at 80+MPH trying to get somewhere faster than you should. Slow down, stop in, and get some well made BBQ. Sure, you're going to have the "meat sweats" once you've had your fill, but it's all well worth it in the end.

Normally, I would think that there would be more flavor, but not as tasty as I thought it would be, especially if it's wood oven made pizza. Service The server is friendly with that sweet southern hospitality. She deserves 5 stars. Ambiance Music background, clean and spacious place. Sadly, I had to give 3 stars not because of the staff or the ambient, but because of the food.

But unfortunately I have to drop it to 3 stars as the setting is weird and the service was bad, teetering on horrible. It's located downtown at the back of a building that looked like it had a flower shop, a coffee shop and a salon to walk through before you got to the restaurant. I understand you gotta do what you gotta do as a business owner, but it was a bit strange. That didn't detract from our experience, but when we DID get into the restaurant, it's not a good sign that you feel unwelcome and frankly a burden to the staff. Which is exactly what we felt like. We were told "sit wherever". "To drink?" "We have Pepsi products but Pepsi out" as she walked away. It never got better from there. Too bad because I'd recommend the food but when coming thru town next time, I think I'll try somewhere else.

We had to try it! We both had the steaks, my wife having the ribeye and I had the New York strip. We both had the fully loaded sweet potato. I had the salad bar and she had the corn. Everything was incredibly tasty. The owner was very friendly unhelpful and it was fun to read up on the history of the railroad car. It provides an unique environment with a folksy vibe. The railroad car does not look as clean and crisp as their web page photo and it's been painted what appears to be a dark burgundy. It was dark and raining so it's hard to say on the color. Inside is cozy and comfortable. It's a neat venue. The menu consists of typical American comfort food, at least for the south. Three of us us ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, cream gravey and fried okra. The outlier ordered fried chicken livers with French fries and fried okra. All four of us were pleased with our meals. The chicken fry was good as were the potatoes and cream gravey. The fried okra was excellent. The chicken livers were excellent and begged for mashed potatoes and cream gravey. The French fries Ken ordered weren't very good. I think they were under cooked. We had a nice, enjoyable dinner. The service was excellent and the prices moderate

Joe seems to have a deeper love for it that only a papa can have. The order and pick up conversations are as educational as they are friendly. Which makes it easy to give papa some love and a few bonus stars for bringing Southern BBQ to the PNW. Pork Ribs are ordered by the bone. Choose 3, 6, or 12 ... just be sure to order some because the tender, juicy meat falls right off the bone and, with luck, right into your mouth. I went back for more and they had sold out so I settled on Brisket. It was tender beef, but I loved the pork more. I must try the Beef Ribs next time. Sides included Cole Slaw, grilled Country Corn, Chili Cheese Fries; however, the best companions for the barbecue were the sauces including Root Beer BBQ Sauce, Sriracha BBQ Sauce, Cascadia Ale BBQ Sauce, and my favorite: Carolina Reaper BBQ Sauce. The hours are advertised as open 4 days a week, but the schedule and location varies since this food truck is mobile. I love my father (Hi Dad!!), but when it comes to who's my papa, I choose Papa Joe's BBQ.
