Amazing place! Delicious breakfast! It was busy but things moved pretty quickly. My coffee cup stayed full. Will be stopping here again! We were passing through from out of town. Quick on/off Hwy 69. read more

A small diner by the hotels. It was pretty busy when we came for dinner and only 1 waitress. Food was good. I got the shrimp dinner and it was butterflied shrimp that was battered and not the frozen ones. Fries didn't look too appetizing, but they were good. I would like to come back to try their breakfast. read more

We stopped in on a cold, dreary afternoon and found this to be a cozy, friendly little place for lunch. It seemed to be full of locals and I couldn't help but smile as I heard the waitress chatting with them. We tried both vegetable and potato soup, iced tea, chicken breast sandwich and cherry cobbler with ice cream. The standout was the perfectly-cooked chicken breast on the toasty bun. The soups were about average in flavor but were hot and hit the spot. The tea tasted a little funky. The cobbler was a good finish. This certainly wasn't a gourmet place by any means, but we just felt so welcome and there are plenty of tasty sounding things on the menu (including all-day breakfast) so we would try it again. read more

Visited this restaurant during Covid Marilyn's is right next to a best western off the highway. It was busy but it was the service was good the food was hot and fresh and you could tell that it was made to order. If you get the cobbler with ice cream you might want to consider getting the ice cream on the side. Unfortunately it's a soft serve style ice cream and so it will melt really fast. The ribeye steak was nice and tender and tasted like they've seasoned it with garlic powder which I thoroughly enjoyed. The big potato came with sour cream and butter was already on the table. If you want cheese you're gonna have to ask for that. Soda came in a can which I was fine with. Everything was very good and I would definitely come back again read more

This is a diner in its most basic form. I don't have any complaints but also don't have anything to rant or rave about. Service was on the slow side. Everything moves slower in this town and it's obvious people are used to slow service. read more

So...I found this place on yelp and I liked what I saw. I was in the mood for some home cooking and this place fit the bill. The first thing I noticed was an abundance of truckers parked out front which I figured is a good sign cause them boys like to eat. Now my taste buds were singing "East bound and down, loaded up and truckin', We're gonna do what they say can't be done"so I decided to put the pedal to the metal and go all in with a chicken fried steak. That's right. It's a good thing it was covered in gravy cause it was kinda burnt. Not to mention a little on the smallish side. Maybe I should have put on peterbilt hat or something cause I feel a little skimped. It's too late now though. It did come with 2 sides and a salad so I got full but...the mashed potatoes shouldn't be the star of the show. Know what I'm saying. Overall a very solid mediocre meal. 2 1/2 stars ALL DAY LONG. read more

A great roadside diner on the west side of 69 next to a motel. The food is delicious and the service is spot on. We've stopped in 3 times and everything we have ordered has been well made. Not a fancy place, but a great roadside find. read more

Marilyn's is the definition of a greasy spoon. I walked into a panicked scene of one waitress handling every table in the joint. She did it was the grace of a swan and the ferocity of a T-Rex. It was amazing. I seated myself. I patiently waited and watched as each seat was emptied and almost immediately filled until the waitress finally came over. She arrived in a vortex that engulfed just the two of us. She had 101 things to do but in that moment I was her only concern. Her totally focus was on me. I ordered big. Annoyingly big. Hash-browns, omelette, toast, drinks, and another meal; a ribeye sandwich. Don't judge me. I was hungry. She took it all in stride and with a smile. The food took an appropriate amount of time to get to me. When it did it was the perfect fare. The ribeye sandwich was just greasy enough to make me question my life choices that had brought me to this point, but not so much that I didn't devour it. The omelette steamed a delicious smelling cloud in my face. I destroyed everything on that plate. It was great. Look. I don't know you and you don't know me, but, stranger, if you're ever in Mcalester, OK you need to eat at Marilyn's. It's 100% worth it. I mean, unless you hate sexism, then the menu will definitely piss you off. read more

O.k I know its hard to mess-up Breakfast, and this is in a hotel parking lot. But I have been there a couple of times for breakfast and they do a really good job! this place is clean, good service and they are friendly. it is a good place to stop for breakfast when you are on your way someplace and coffee is good and they keep you cup full! if you are heading south on highway 69 after you get passed the last stop light ,on the west side of the highway on the service road they have a little room for truck parking, it will be a little hard getting back out on the high way, but will worth the truoble... read more

I'm sure the food is good, but no one was wearing masks. Sorry, but we decided to go elsewhere.

Home cooking at its finest! Breakfast, lunch, and diner and a good variety of menu items. I eat here all the time and have done so for many years. Easy access just off the highway and plenty of parking. Do yourself a favor and make a stop here. You won't be sorry! read more

Traveling through town on our way to Arkansas, we decided to give Marilyn's a try. Opened the door to a room with not one empty table, no one wearing masks, not even the waitress. Closed the door and went to find another place to eat. read more

Really nice little restaurant. We were there at noon but had breakfast. It was home cooking at its best. Waitress was a sweetie. We'll stop there again. read more

This restaurant was good; wasn't fabulous. It's really just a typical greasy spoon cafe in a oldish house type building. My husband and I both got hamburgers. The hamburgers were cooked well-done; they did ask how we wanted them cooked, but that tells me that they weren't using super high quality beef. Since the burgers were cooked well-done, they were a bit dry. Burgers are always served with regular potato chips, so we're got a side of French fries, which were home made, but no seasoning. Not a terrible experience, just nothing to write home about. read more

They were all locals eating here so we knew it had to be good. Limited menu but food came out quick and it was fresh and hardy. My ham and cheese omelette had large pieces of fresh ham. No cream on the table and if you don't drink your coffee black you have to order a $1.50 glass a milk.... Much better than the other choices in town. read more

Truck broke-down, and checked-in to the Best Western. My co-driver kept talking about wanting a hot meal since he first saw me this morning-- pointing out this restaurant. His instincts are good. Now late afternoon, and I haven't eaten anything, so here we are. Great service, generous portions. I feel so spoiled. This is not a truck stop, but I will be stopping near just to eat here again. What a great find! read more

Dirty. That's what this food tastes like. I went twice IOT ensure i wasn't just being picky. Tried breakfast this morning and everything tastes like it was fresh out of the box. And dirty. Tasted the same thing last time i was here... the grill needs to be cleaned. Just really disappointed. Was hoping the other positive reviews were right.... they were not. This was on of the very few times Yelp led us wrong. Has high reviews which I am going to assume is mostly local people who love their routine place. This is NOT a recommended place to eat for travelers passing through. Small, very very dirty, and i regretfully saw them cooking food... Man, we usually love yelp referrals and finding random places to eat, this was an absolute fail. Omelet was yuck, ham and cheese was soggy, okra was ick. Water tasted absolutely terrible. Strange bad. Good news though, the coke in a can was solid..... Do not buy into the reviews on this one. read more

Stopped at 2:00 in the afternoon and the food was hot, fresh, and the wait staff was excellent. I had Fried chicken and it was great, like momma made. Nice little place on the west side of McAllister just south of town next to the Best Western hotel. We stopped there for lunch and I got a large burger that had Swiss and mushroom and my wife ordered the club sandwich. Very clean, Service was quick and efficient, and the food was predictable... Teeny tiny location. Club sandwich had some strange meats like roast beef? And ham was very fatty. Service slow.

Listen to the multiple positive reviews and give this place a try! We stopped for dinner while driving through McAlester based on the positive reviews from others. This is a classic diner with a very comforting feel and a menu full of comfort food. Between the 4 of us we ordered 2 burgers, fried chicken and chicken tenders. Everything was delicious and the entrees are generous with multiple sides. We'll definitely eat here again the next time we pass through McAlester. read more

Good choice for a late lunch as we travelled through McAlester. Small and quaint with only a couple of tables occupied when we arrived. Hubster ordered chicken fried steak, hominy and mashed taters and a bowl of vegetable soup. Soup had a good stock base so you didn't really notice the veggies were probably canned. He enjoyed every bite of his meal. I had a pretty good cheeseburger with fries for about $7. Almost finished when the small place began filling up with locals as well as a group of sports enthusiasts. Gave our table up to a local and went on our way. We will stop again. read more
