If you're looking for good family style Italian look no further than Pete's Place in Krebs. My husband and I have been eating here for years and it's always amazing. The portions are huge so don't let the prices scare you. You can have a private room or opt to eat in the choc room like my husband and I did tonight. We ordered off the bar bites menu and got the anti pasta, salad, bread, spaghetti, meatball, ravioli, and lamb fries. All were cooked to perfection and so delish! The food was good, but nothing like it was years ago when Bill Pritcher opened the place and Betty was the main waitress at the time that retired after many years. Years ago, the food was amazing all handmade. Our family had been coming here from years ago. Bill preacher gave my uncle his rosary and told him I am not giving this to you. You were to bring it back and that's one of the first things My uncle did when he came back from World War II . Bill and Betty are no longer there and things have changed, of course because time has changed. However, it was wonderful coming back to reminisce with one of my dearest friends that remembers all the old times before the big remodel. As a matter of fact, my uncle was privileged to get to Cook spaghetti with Bill and my uncle taught us how to do it like they did years ago. As far as our visit today there the waitress was very friendly, but she knew nothing about the history of Petes. When we were checked out, it was the same thing. They were very friendly, but they knew nothing about the history of the place, which is a little sad to me. They have a lot of the memorabilia on the walls, but none of their staff we met knew anything about the history. We did have some food we wanted to take to go. They're in a relatively new building with individual dining rooms that provide for a private, intimate dining experience Each of us ordered the Italian Lunch, an ample plate of spaghetti with two meat balls, and ravoli. I was raised with Italian food since my mother is full Italian. She cooked her sauce for hours in order to blend all the herbs together and I have only found a couple of restaurants that have tasted close to hers and one was in Chicago, Illinois. When I lived in another city I was invited to dine at Pete's Place about 15 years ago I was skeptical because as I mentioned it is hard to find delicious Italian food so when I tried it all I can say is I don't understand Pete's red sauce, It tastes to much like they just opened a can of tomato sauce, heated it and then pour it on top of pasta. I now live in McAlester for the past fourteen years but never dine there. Their salad is iceberg lettuce with their house dressing. Other entrees are fried this and fried that. Choc beer, is decent. Obviously, they have done well through the years but this review is my opinion. Sure, they give plenty of food but quality of food always wins over quantity, at least for me. read more

Pete's has had a complicated couple of years, but I still really love their food. They will always be legendary in the world of Italian food and culture in my book. Pete's used to be a lot more popular. Around the time of COVID, their prices absolutely skyrocketed, and the prices really are ridiculous. It went from a restaurant my family would go to once a week to a place we go to once in a blue moon. I mean, I love their salad, their cheese plate with the pepperoncinis and olives... and I will love their bread forever. As an Italian, I truly do enjoy their spaghetti, and it's always al denté as well. I always order either the lamb fries or the chicken parmesean... both are phenomenal in my book. The issue is, they've changed some things. Like the ravioli for example... it used to be so good, and now it's very very different and I no longer like them. Pete's has an ambiance that, in my opinion, can't be beat. I mean, you get your own private room. But even the green and white checkered floors, the wooden architecture, the authetic italian decor... it just feels cozy and nostalgic. Their service is always great. Very kind, attentive people... I don't really remember any time that I wasn't happy with the service there. I struggle with Pete's now because their prices are just unrealistic, especially in Krebs, Oklahoma. As a kid in the 1970s, going to Pete's Place was an event. The kind of place where families dressed up, packed into station wagons, and waited in line just to get a taste of that legendary Italian feast. It was warm, loud, and full of incredible smells. It felt like Italy had opened a portal in Oklahoma -- and it was worth every minute of the wait. Fast-forward to today, and I walked in with a heart full of nostalgia and an empty stomach. I walked out with a stomach full of regret and a heart broken by flavorless sauce and freezer-burned memories. Let's start with the tomato sauce, the supposed backbone of Italian cuisine. It was bland, watery, and uninspired -- like someone had strained a can of Hunt's through a dishrag and called it Sunday gravy. Not even a hint of garlic, no herbs, no depth -- just red sadness. The chicken Parmesan was an abomination. Pounded so thin I could see through it, it was more batter than bird, and what little meat was in there had the texture of overcooked jerky. Crispy? No. Juicy? Not a chance. It was like chewing a breaded rubber sole. The meatballs were clearly frozen -- perfectly round, dense, and entirely devoid of flavor. You could roll them across the table and play bocce. Homemade? Only if your home has a walk-in freezer and a wholesale account. Then came the ravioli, and I use that term loosely. Thick-edged pasta pouches with a weird, gummy bite, stuffed with mystery filling that tasted like damp cardboard. The only thing Italian about them was the disappointment. The grilled chicken was another highlight of horror -- tough, dry, and suspiciously uniform. It had that unmistakable freezer-to-flattop texture, with the flavor of regret and the chew of boiled shoe leather. And then -- the salad. Oh, the salad. A swampy, vinegar-heavy puddle with a few sad cubes of cheese floating like survivors on a life raft. It wasn't dressed -- it was drowned. I didn't know whether to eat it or send in a rescue boat. Even the bread, once a highlight, tasted a day or two past its prime. Not terrible, just tired. Like it had given up, just like the rest of the meal. Pete's Place used to be a jewel of small-town Oklahoma dining -- now, it's a culinary time capsule that's been buried too long. If you have fond memories, cherish them, but don't go digging them up. First, the presentation was very poor. The chicken was paper-thin, the crust was overcooked, and the cheese on top was overly melted to the point that it was crusty and unappetizing. The taste was horrible. The plate was completely overloaded with red sauce--so much that I could barely see the food underneath. The side salad was not a salad at all. It appeared to be nothing more than old iceberg lettuce that looked weeks past fresh. There were no tomatoes, no dressing, no toppings--just dry, wilted lettuce. The spaghetti was just as bad. I ordered a beer that didn't arrive until I was nearly finished with my meal. My lasagna entrée took an extremely long time to come out, and the "all you can eat" spaghetti, meatballs, and ravioli dishes were also slow to arrive and cold. We only received one bread basket serving. By the time we got the bill, it was another mess altogether. Overall, the experience was frustrating from start to finish. We stopped here on the way back from Dallas to Tulsa recently. Seating was immediate, and the food started coming quickly. Small nibbles of cheese and tasty bread helped set the stage. A simple Italian salad is also served and a nice starter. It's basically a family style place with everyone enjoying certain Italian favorites such as spaghetti and ravioli. We tried the chicken parm, Italian sausage, fried shrimp, and lasagna. Sharing is a good idea so everyone can try a little bit of it all. Now this was my first time, so I was not familiar with the "private room" seating and such. We were in an interior room, so no windows. Seemed like dining in an office conference room. The service was very good though - attentive but not overbearing. Food quality was average - I'm not a fan of large volume and unfortunately often overcooked pasta... this seemed mass produced versus a made to order and personally more appealing al dente where appropriate. It's a fun experience for a large group, but I wouldn't describe it as exceptional due to the food quality. They've been there a very long time, so as with many places, it's definitely a matter of personal preference -- and clearly LOTS of people love the place. read more

My Dad passed away and we had been traveling from Ohio back home to Texas. We were seated in a small room with a single table for 6. There was no ambiance or sight of other people. I ordered the Italian lunch special ( spaghetti with meatballs and ravioli) salad is extra $3.25. I don't care for fat spaghetti noodles so I requested angel hair, they don't offer angel hair spaghetti. Overall, the separation gave no ambiance, kinda felt closed in after traveling in a car for so long but the sauce and ravioli was deep and savory. The salad had the perfect vinegar and oil mix, garlic bread was wonderful. Meatballs and lasagna was just average. This place was really cool! A group of 7 of us decided to try Pete's as we were in the area with our RV club. The restaurant was very clean and the staff friendly. What makes this place really unique is that rather than having a large dining room, they have separate rooms for each dinner party. We were seated in a room that holds 8. And they have rooms that are much larger. As it was the weekend, the lunch menu was not available. So on the dinner menu, each meal includes the Italian Dinner. From there, if desired, you can spend a little more to get an addition to your meal, such as Lasagna, etc. Our meal began with salad and garlic bread. The salad had a vinegar based dressing on it and it was super tart. Could have used more oil to cut the vinegar. Salad was followed by antipasta plates with cheese, peppers and olives. Yummy. Then the food came out. Large platters of meat ravioli with meatballs covered and a savory red sauce. Then large platters of spaghetti covered in the same red sauce. I ordered the ribeye rare and they did not disappoint. I do not like mushrooms so I told them to no thank you for those. They come on top. My friend ordered it with mushrooms and he did NOT like them. The steak itself, however, was one of the best I have had. Absolutely terrific. I was very surprised. As you will read in other comments, the pasta is somewhat lacking. Crazy, I know. BUT!!!!! They have an excellent beer selection from the local brewery. If you like sour beers, you will be in heaven. They even have a cooler up front and you can purchase 6 packs to go and have a great selection to choose from. A solid place that you feel compelled to visit at least once a year. That's how I sum up Pete's place. I would NOT recommend Pete's for dinner with a four hour drive before you, but I would recommend it for dinner (once or twice a year). The staff is always friendly and service is good. The small private dining rooms might freak some out, but it is a relaxing setting. The dinners come family style with spaghetti, meatballs and raviolis coming with the entrees you order. For instance, if you order the chicken breast, that's all that will be delivered to your plate---everything else will be piled high in the middle of the table like the aforementioned pasta, bread, antipasto plate, and salad. Decent wine selection and of course there's Choc beer. There's also a freezer with premade pasta items and shelves with their own pasta and salad dressing lines. They also carry Lovera products. I read another review that they charged a couple who shared. We left because we couldn't justify that kind of money and wasting food That is just crazy. I high extra high hopes for this place considering it is supposed to be like the " Little Italy " of Oklahoma in Krebs. The concept of the private rooms is super cool although extremely outdated. It's like being on a train to me in a little dining car, which was fun! You get a few cheese slices, some greens olives and a Pepperoni on a big plate it is so random then you get a salad which is COVERED I mean COVERED in vinegar and it's just sour and salty gross iceberg ( which should never be used) is soaking literally soaking wet! Then you get pasta which comes with each entrée. The sauce was watery and lacked bold flavors of pasta sauce to make it worse, the pasta was completely over cooked almost mushy. GOOD Italian spaghetti is beautifully Al dente. We ordered the sausage which is local Loveras and delicious when we buy at the farmers market and cook it ourselves but they ruined this. It was burned to a crisp and dry as a bone I took it home and ended up throwing it away a total waste and WAY overpriced for one sausage on a giant plate! My wife got lasagna which she described as just bland and watery like the pasta was. Overall wouldn't go back and the prices are utterly obscene for such poor quality food. I've never left a bad review but here we go. Had always heard about this place so stopped on our way home from a weekend at Robbers Cave. The food prices were very high, but we went for it thinking it would be worth it. Far from it and we felt robbed that I could make better Italian food at home for under $10. No flavors or seasoning, super bland and no Italian flare that you would think - basically the most basic flavorless, un-creative food ever. It was $35 for shrimp Alfredo and they brought out a plate of it the size of my hand! Thought it was supposed to be family style aka large plates! Also they make you buy an entree per person so you don't really get any "free" or "included" food at all like the menu would allude. Our service was not great either. We felt silly after eating here, I feel like it's a tourist trap that we fell for. Will not go back or recommend, sorry. This place is unique in it's own way. Not only is it nestled back in a little town. It's uniqueness is that it is family owned, and it's also served family style for many years now. Pete's place has had many visitors over the years that were and are now celebrities. Their Italian roots definitely come out in their amazing foods and gravy's. This place has a lot of history involved with it so please take the time to browse and purchase something to show everyone that you have been to a place we're celebrities hang out. A few things I cover in my reviews are as follows: 1. The thermostat was to reflect the customers interest not the staffs. In other words the kitchen had their own HVAC system. 2. Is the establishment clean and clutter free? Yes and restrooms were well kept as well. 3. Would I recommend you to visit? Most definitely!! If you are making a drive from Tulsa or Oklahoma City it's totally worth the stop!!!! I would even venture to say I would go out of my way to come back.
