Family of six for dinner. Able to walk in without a reservation. Seated right away. Friendly atmosphere. Server came to take our drink order very quickly. We ordered beer, the cucumber jalapeño margarita and lemonade with vodka, and soda. Holy Cow don't underestimate the size of the margarita. It clearly had to be shared. And even then there was some left over. Our table ordered a couple of single orders of steak and chicken fajitas ($10) as well as the Carne Asada ($14), tacos, and guacamole. The chips and salsa tied us over until the food arrived. The chicken and the steak were cooked exactly if they needed to be for the fajitas, the carne asada was tasty and filling, and the beans and rice were delicious. It was clear that people were enjoying their meals here and when there was one mixup it was corrected very quickly. This was our second time here. If you want a place where the food is reliably tasty, the service is, and the prices are very reasonable -- this is an ideal option in McAlester. read more

This is our favorite place to eat Mexican in mcalester. Everything hits the mark every time! Their drinks are amazing and of course you can't go wrong with their chips and queso! Most Mexican Restaurants are closed on Monday in this town so I ended up here. I am from Texas and spoiled by excellent Mexican food. I was seated promptly, chips, salsa arrived, drink and appetizer order taken. The standard salsa was very mild almost tomato sauce, so I asked the waitress for some spicy salsa and POW it delivered it is spicy so use caution. I ordered the chorizo queso and beef fajitas. After 10 minutes I had to ask where my queso was and it quickly came out and worth the wait. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away. Beverages were brought on time. Ordered guacamole and it was huge. I ordered a beef taco salad. I definitely prefer Taco Cabana better. The entrees for the folks I was with were below average. Oh and bonus were all served and didn't get silverware for about 3 or 4 mins so we all just sitting waiting to eat. I will not be back. If you've spent a lot of time on the road and need a good, hearty meal in Oklahoma, you do yourself a disservice if you don't go to El Jalisco. All their entrees have great quality and good portions if you've worked up an appetite. I can personally recommend their enchiladas, which are magical. I should also add, El Jalisco has an extensive mixed drink menu so if you have a designated driver, get yourself a drink!!! My wife and I come here every other weekend, sometimes multiple times in the same weekend. This blows any other Mexican I've ever had out of the water. I come from central Oklahoma where it seems the yellow substance, that can't make up its mind if it is a solid or a liquid, is the passable norm they label as "queso". At El Jalisco, their white queso is above par for me and is a must-have with very meal. I will say, I only ever get the Pollo Loco every time and I get it with French fries that I make tacos out of the chicken, fried potatoes, and white queso. Friday nights you can count on a line out the doors but the wait time to seat two, in my experience, has never been than 10-15 minutes. I love the feeling of within the restaurant, it's a warm environment with the bustling noise of patrons. They have very screens that play all kinds of sports if that is something you're interested in. The wait staff are exceptional, we've been here enough to have met every server and there is not one that I expect poor service from. They are attentive and move with purpose. A manager has always come by for a table check as well. If I ever move away from the McAlester area, I will make the drive to visit my favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

I am new to the area, one thing this town has to offer is a ton of Mexican restaurant choices. This was my first one to try and it did not disappoint. Excellent & very well mannered staff, clean establishment, great menu and very fair prices! I tried their strawberry house margarita, white queso with chips & salsa, tacos de birria & refried beans. Was not disappointed with anything and they have a lot of good lunch options Monday-Friday before 3 PM(after 3 you have the option to get them and add $1). Food comes out quickly & absolutely great service our server was so kind! If you are in the area and wanting Mexican food this is your place! This place is a hidden gem on the road. We stopped en route to DFW area on a Sunday afternoon and it was hopping. Waited just a bit for a table and the service was great. Attentive and friendly staff serving large portions for a great price. We got double fajitas for $20!?? This meal is easily $40 in any DFW area restaurant. We had all we could eat and drink with appetizers for $30. Highly recommend this is a treasure for McAlester. read more

Never judge a book by its cover, comes to fruition here, once u step inside u are greeted with 11/10 customer service with food to match. We searched Yelp for the best Mexican restaurant with margaritas in Mcalester and this place didn't disappoint. We asked for the hot salsa which when mixed with the mild was perfect. Got great guacamole and my favorite- white queso dip- both good with thin, unsalted chips. Tamales were excellent. Got one with red sauce and the other with tomatillo green- nice and tangy! Margaritas were yummy and very reasonably priced. This is the place to go in mcalester. The restaurant was packed but service was fast and attentive. A well run machine! read more

To start off this place is very unorganized and it felt very chaotic. Service is lacking and the food was terrible. Salsa tasted like tomato's. The "chili" sauce on my enchilada tasted like it was fresh out of the can and then some bland taco meat was thrown on top of it. My taco was greasy and flavorless. The cheese sauce was super runny. I had one bite of my enchilada and one bite of my taco. I could not eat anymore. I am unsure how this place has such a high rating because this place is not good in any way. I ate here last Tuesday. The food tasted fine however within 4 hours the problems began. My stomach is still not right one week later. I wont eloborate on the stomach problems since its gross but I will call it Montezuma's revenge and that should cover it without details. Not sure if it was unsafe food temps or what the cause was but the health dept needs to visit these folks. Took the family here on a friend's recommendation, and bam! They have some of the best ( if not the best) food my mouth has ever come across. Even though they were really busy they got us sat, and had chips and salsa in a timely manner. The service we received was just as good as the food!
