The dining area and restrooms were clean. We enjoyed the music and the general vibe of the restaurant. The service, though limited, was friendly and met our needs. I would return. The food was great and I believe tasted the way restaurant style rice and beans should. We got a combination of tacos, the variety was nice. Everything was worth what we paid. I usually come in and have a taco salad spicy pork because it's phenomenal at this time. I'm in with my husband and we are having La. Cabana fajitas they've changed their Salsa it's 10/0 now it's more like a salsa than it is a hot sauce or just pepper with service is very friendly knowledgeable of their menu atmosphere is very clean open airy they have lots of seating for some big parties. Me and my family stopped by to have a delicious and couldn't be more satisfied. The food is very good and very affordable and the staff were great. I couldn't catch the young lady's name that was our server on July 11th but she was excellent, we had spilt a drink by accident and she immediately came over and assisted and cleaned up our mess which she didn't have to. Service is great! Seated very quickly, the waiter asked what I would like to drink as soon as I was seated. The chips and salsa was good, I had the cheese enchiladas and ask if they had ceviche and he said it not on the menu (but not saying I had it just like he makes it but it was good) if they had it! Superb! No complaints at all. Got supreme nachos, no meat. It came out hot and tasty! Ordered a large mango margarita on the rocks, it was spectacular AND I am feeling no pain so it did it's job! A nice Mexican restaurant with friendly service and some more authentic menu items not offered elsewhere in McAlester. My favorites here have been the Chili Verde, Chili Colorado, or the Tacos Mexicanos. You get three tacos and can mix but I've found I like best either Al pastor or carnitas. The pastor was a little dry but had good taste. Otherwise fine with the lime and salsa. Chips are always fresh and the salsa is good with a little heat. The Spanish rice is closest to grandmas which is why this is grandma's favorite place. ;) read more

Just stopped by after seeing so many great reviews. After being in the road for some time we were starving and decided to stop. On a Saturday evening we were surprised that we were the only people eating in the restaurant. I went to the restroom and it was filthy. I did not want to make a seen and leave, since my husband had already ordered drinks. Our waiter greeted up wearing air pods. Not sure if he could hear us or not. We placed our order and within a short time, our food came out hot. I ordered the quesadilla that were very greasy with a strange color (orange) of cheese. They did not have much flavor. My husband wanted to mention the salsa tasted like ketchup. We won't be back anytime soon. read more

I enjoyed the food here. I had the Mexican street tacos plate and ordered the barbacoa, campechanos, and pork. They were all delicious. My little guy had the "donkey tail" which was sorta a corn dog (hit dog wrapped in a flour tortilla and deep fried). Chips were great and guacamole was fantastic. read more

This might be on par for the area, as I don't expect BDE OK to wow me with Mexican, but this is slightly overpriced El Chico. Good? Perhaps, for a little bit less. I really enjoyed the ElCohjete LaCabana which includes chicken, steak, shrimp, hotlinks, tortillas rice & beans (instead of beans I sub frjoles charo). Our chips were burnt, the cheese taste like it came out of a can, and the salsa was terrible and tasted old. We got our 16 month old son chicken nuggets and fries which he usually eats all of but, the chicken nuggets were burnt so bad they were almost black and they were to hard for him to even bite. He only ate 3 fries. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting if it wasn't for being in our vehicle for 2 and a half hours I would have held it. My husband and I decided to stop here on our way to Dallas the night before Thanksgiving and try it out because of good reviews. When we pulled in the parking lot, we wondered about staying-place was nothing very fancy. Went inside to find at least half the tables in need of bussing but we were told we could sit anywhere-again inside nothing fancy. We were served very fresh chips and a salsa unlike any we ever had, but we both loved it. I asked the waiter what was especially good and he suggested Carnitas (pulled pork) which I ordered. My husband ordered quesadilla. The food came in 5-8 minutes and was very hot. My pork was in chunks, not like pulled pork. I tried it and it was wonderfully seasoned and fall apart tender. We both loved our meal choices! The only thing that wasnt great were the refried beans. So, one star off for atmosphere, but it would have been 5 for the food! read more

Favorite Mexican place in town. That's saying a lot because we have many choices here! But this place is the fastest, cleanest, most consistently delicious and authentic spot we have. And if you can't tell the difference between La Cabana, El Chico and Taco Bell. You should go to El Chico or Taco Bell. Seating is limited at La Cabana and I hate waiting for a table. read more

McCalester OK, hmm. While more known for their local Italian popularity and food, Mexican may not be their specialty. No worries tho, I wasn't expecting it to be like 21st & Garnett in Tulsa. Street style Taqueria Tacos are definitely one of my favorite Mexican entrees and kind of a way I establish whether or not I want to return for other dishes. La Cabana is no different. While they did offer Tacos de carne asada, they were so so. Meat was not that flavorful but not bad. They didn't serve it with the red pepper tomatillo salsa like taquerias do which I like but oh well. Not terrible but no wow factor. read more
