It's been over 4 years since I posted a review for The Yard when I hadn't even been to it until now. On a busy Saturday, just before Mother's Day, I chose to come and experience The Yard. I can say that I am pleasantly surprised and impressed, I don't say this lightly. With it being a busy evening on one of the nicest days with the weather, this place was busy like - way busy! My wife and I were with another couple and the wait went bye quickly. We were seated and then the work began, what to choose... the menu had a wide variety that fits all options for food lovers. The appetizers we had were the Firepit Queso, this is packed with flavor, the VT's Fried Pickles were exactly how southern fried pickles should be yummy and finger licking good. For my meal I went simple with the Grown Up Grilled Cheese sandwich with the creamy tomato soup. The flavors were tasty with the cheese, crunchy toasted bread dipped into the soup, the only issue was - I wanted more. : ) My wife went for the Front Porch Nachos, the chimichurri seemed to integrate nicely with all the ingredients. The other dishes were Ma's Fried Chicken Tenders, the coating was cooked crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Backyard Mixed Green Salad with chicken, there were no complaints. The waiter we had was great and very attentive. I always expected to wait for my soda to be refilled by an absent waiter but not the case here. Three of us at the table had sodas and we were all taken care of with refills without asking once. I can't remember the guys name but the waiter we had was on point. Overall The Yard should be a choice high on your list of where to go especially on a nice weather day. read more

We enjoyed every aspect of the place. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was amazing, she made many recommendations, was very attentive, and was spot on with her service. We were all very happy we sat in her section. I got the pulled pork taco bowl which was delicious. I don't remember the names of the food my nephew and his wife ordered, but I have pictures and they both said it was beyond scrumptious. The Oreo cookie ice cream sandwich was big enough for all of us to share. The drinks were very good, strong enough to know it's alcohol, but not overpowering in taste. The pulled pork was flavorful, though I wish the fries were a tad crispier since they had queso on them. The church street club was huge; filled with a ton of turkey and was quite filling. Came back again and it never disappoints. This place is consistently good and the best place for group settings. Last night, it was packed with graduates and their families. We got in and out at 8pm. On top of that parking here sucks with the commercial lot full at 5pm and not emptying out, so figure on street parking 2-3 blocks away. You can easily show up without a reservation but know you'll have quite a wait on your hands on most weekends. If you're a patio lover like myself, the wait won't matter after you grab a ranch water and gather round the many fire pits on the property. The food is tasty and is what one can expect from an American restaurant in Texas. The fried foods are typical southern fare but the nachos perfectly compliment the setting and go great with a Dallas Blonde beer. The bar has a great mix of traditional cocktails and adventures spirits to accompany their large selection of beer (both local and traditional). Overall, The Yard should be experienced.
