I rolled into the Winey Neighbor on Saturday to pick up a couple of bottles for a Friendsgiving (wine is always a safe bet when you can't cook, right?). The majority of the bottles were in the $10-$15 range which is really nice. Besides the price, they had a great selection and a nice variety. I love that each wine is given food and music pairings. It's a fun touch. The man behind the counter was very friendly and down to help with any questions that I had. A great, easy wine-buying experience! I'll be back! read more

Love this place so much. Every time I go the guys who work there are super knowledgeable and helpful. I've never gotten a bottle I haven't loved, and everything is reasonably priced. Definitely an asset to the neighborhood. read more

I came here on a whim while shopping for wine in the area. A great selection of bottles, many of them at very reasonable prices. Most of their bottles are pretty inexpensive, yet they do have higher priced options if you want to splurge or buy someone a gift. I only came here once but I bought a handful of bottles and wasn't disappointed by any of them. Not only do they do food pairings, but they also do music pairings which is very hipster but an interesting concept. I'd come back if I was ever in the area again. read more

This establishment is my favorite wine shop in the area. Two basic traits separate Winey Neighbor from its nearby competitors: Fairly priced bottles and really friendly staff. My husband and I always find something we like with the help of the folks who work here and they don't push you into purchasing something more pricey. There are two wine stores that are actually much closer to our apartment but I will gladly walk to Winey to be treated like a patron and save a few dollars. read more

Love love love this place. It's quaint and full of all types of delicious wines. They have an extensive collection of reds, whites and spakling wines. The price point is also a winner. I havent spent over $15 for any bottle. The main reason why I like this place is because of the lovely woman that works here...I believe she may be the owner. She's always helpful when I come in and will make suggestions. She's very personable and just makes you want to come back to this particular wine store. Need wine and want some friendly service... come here! read more

Every neighborhood needs a place for booze (and a place for worship)! This store is loaded with interesting bottles from smaller and natural wineries that I have never heard of. I told the guy what's for dinner and how much I want to spend. Boom, he effortlessly handed me a minerally and crisp French white! Man, who is this guy? I wish I could pick winners in fantasy football like he picks wine. Overall, these guys are super chilled and well imbibed! read more

Simply adorable! The white is wonderfully priced and the woman who was working (possibly the owner?) had some fabulous recommendations my bf, roommate and I all enjoyed! Each wine has a card with pairing suggestions-food AND music (loved it!) Overall, I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out! I am thrilled it's a stones throw away from my place read more

The Winey Neighbor - Saw this sign on the way out, excited to check it out one night! - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

"Hey we're all out of wine. Can you go to the store and pick up something that would go well with The Ramones?" Sounds like an odd request, but if you were at the Winey Neighbor you're in luck. The Winey Neighbor is actually a pleasant friend to have in the neighborhood, despite what their clever moniker implies. With an extensive selection of white, red and sparkling wines, you'll be glad you stepped in here. The setup is very nice and clean. With bottles ranging in price from basic to high class stuff. Each bottle selection has a card below it. On the cards they list some important info. Starting with it's basic information. A detailed idea of it tastes like. What meats, cheese, fish or vegetables would pair well with it. And oddly enough what music you should listen to it. I didn't know my wine cared so much. Now you know too. If you can't read and need help, the staff here are very friendly and eager to help out. read more

I am no wine aficionado, but this place can pique any newbies interest! Run by a highly creative and artistic married duo, The Winey Neighbor (cute name for the store), is an amazing and quaint wine boutique. We have visited a handful of times and each time, I see that they have expanded their wine selection. I would say there are over 100+ brands at any given time, and each wine is specifically paired with an index card sized tidbit that helpfully suggest food & music pairings that match the wine. You can approach the owners with any questions or advice that you'd want to seek out, as they are ultra friendly and knowledgeable of their wine stock. The look is typical Brooklyn chic, rustic, and charming, and the prices are more than reasonable. The Winey Neighbor is a a treasure worth discovering time and again. read more

Yelp did not disappoint once again! After finding this quaint local new wine store Yelp style, I stumbled in late blustery December evening in preparation for my Holiday/ move out soirée need of Mulled Wine! I was met by two gracious and hospitable owners who helped guide my selection. I purchased a case of the mellow Cab Sauvignon variety and a recommended bubbly of Domaine Collins.. all for less than $150 with Yelp Check in deal & The owner helped me load into my car... Super nice and social owners. I would return to the nabe just to shop there again. read more

A great addition to the neighborhood. I love Wine Exchange on Vanderbilt, but Winey Neighbor is so much closer and I do like supporting new, local businesses better. Why not buy local/ get drunk local? The owners are fantastic and so helpful & friendly. I've had a great time chatting w them while choosing my wines. A fun tidbit, each of their wine descriptions also include artists.. to better help define the characteristic of each wine. It's been fun browsing these. read more

I stopped by for the Grand Tasting and it was really fun! The staff was super helpful with a wine novice like myself. The whole set up of the store and overall design is great. I love the music pairings with the wine idea as well! read more

This place is the best! If you're looking for a great little wine store filled with options, variety, and the nicest and friendliest couple/owners, this is your spot. They have a great selection of wines plus their awesome idea for a selection of wines under twelve bucks! On your way to a party and don't have anything to bring? Swing on by and pick up a few bottles of their pre-chilled selection! They know what they're talking about, and if you have any questions as to which wine you should try, chat them up, they'll have a few great suggestions! read more

I LOVE THIS WINE SHOP! Not only are the owners friendly and knowledgeable about wine (seriously, so many people came in while I was there with my boyfriend asking about pairings for whatever dinner they were going to and got stellar recommendations), their shop is gorgeous. Even though it's a small shop, it really doesn't feel that way. The space is used brilliantly and convinces me that it was designed by an artistic genius. Every piece in the shop has a story so if you get bored talking about wine, ask them about the neat artifacts in their shop - from the gorgeous record player to the wine displays that they put together themselves. It's like visiting your designer friend's wine collection in their beautiful house only you can buy the wines, most of which are totally affordable and delicious (many in the $10-$20 range, although also some nicer stuff that's more pricey) - we've tried a few of them. Plus, Kenneth and Young will tell you all about them and get you just the wines you are looking for. read more

Wish this winey neighbor was really my neighbor. O, the fun we would have. My first encounter with this establishment was during their Grand Tasting a few weeks ago. The place was packed with people who were drooling over bottles of wine and tasty delights. Don't worry that you missed out because every Wednesday from 6-8pm they have a wine tasting of their featured distributors. Just join their mailing list and you'll get a friendly reminder the day of. Though the Wednesday tasting I attended was not as vibrant as the Grand Tasting, so I did feel obligated to purchase a bottle. Well at least my buddy I was with felt it was necessary to show his support to avoid whiny faces. There is a bit of an awkward dilemma, I came for the free wine, but I couldn't sneak out because there were no extra bodies to deflect attention. However, the owners are super friendly. They are a husband and wife duo. This couple is uber cool, they taste the wine while listening to music, so they can suggest which artist's track to play to get the right vibe of the red or the white. I have been meaning to try the Anna de Codorniu to pair it with some Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. But do they mean Cry me a River or Future/Sex Lovesound? This neighbor is not looking to take all your money. Most of the bottles of wine are very affordable. There are many reds from the U.S., Italy, France, or South America that will run you about $10-$15. If you feel to indulge, there are $30 bottles. The decor feels like your grandmother's basement, except you get to drink! Don't forget to lay your hands on the early 20th century typewriter. It works! read more

What happens when your party of 4 ends up finishing roughly 5 bottles of wine and another house guest arrives? You go out and buy more wine. Duh. At this point we were discovering the magic of Lambrusco and my pal realized that I had never used the foursquare percentage discount for this store before. They ARE super friendly here though and the selection is totally more impressive than Fermented Grapes on Vanderbilt. I recommend it. I also recommend any of the cheap Lambruscos in the refrigerator. read more

I know nothing about wine other then what a 4 ltr bottle of Carlo Rossi Sangria is. But i come here because of the little cards describing the taste of the wine and what it goes with. this is so helpful thank you. read more

This is my wine spot. I was very thrilled to have a real wine store in the neighborhood, since before most options were from the corner liquor store(beyond bad). I think they have a very good selection of wines, and I did not feel intimidated at all. I don't get too crazy about my wine, I just know what I like. I always leave here with a decent bottle, and a treat for my dog. I recently had a bottle that was corked, hey it happens... They were so professional and cool about the whole thing. The customer service is always spot on, and the folks running this place are pretty cool. I totally support this place 1000%! read more

Came upon this place visiting some friends in the area and I needed to bring wine. I actually live in Little Italy and needed some wine for a friends get together in the neighborhood. The owners were so nice and knowledgeable that we ended up creating a connection! We found wines I liked and what I was looking for and now I order cases from their app for our house! They suggest some new ones that they find and we discuss what I'm looking for when I contact them! It's perfect for us having our holiday parties... our birthday parties and events!! So happy I found them! They may not be in my hood but they sure have become my neighborhood place to order wine from. read more

A great little neighborhood wine store where the owners are friendly and the prices are great. I'm often looking for a new wine to try and since I am on a budget, the Winey Neighbor's center table of "$12 and under" bottles is always my first start. Their selection is also really good for a small (space-wise) wine store and if you are ever lost or need recommendations, the owners are extremely knowledgeable. Also, their little placards under each wine provides parings with food and music - a really neat idea versus the traditional "points" system. This is definitely my go-to neighborhood wine spot! read more

They have a decent amount of inexpensive wine, and it's a pretty well curated selection. It's hard to find a bottle over $40, which suits me fine b/c I almost never drink anything over $20/bottle. This isn't a large store, it might have 50 different wines total, so if you are looking for something rare, specific, or pricey this isn't the place. However, as a neighborhood wine shop, it fits the bill. Plus the descriptions of the wine, though a bit pretentious (music pairing, really?), are usually pretty informative and the staff is always nice and willing to help. I only dock one star because prices are little higher than they should be (Wino(t) usually beats them by $1/bottle). read more

Probably the most Brooklyn concept for a wine shop ever. Not only can you pair your wine with your food, but also with your music. Not exactly sure how scientific it is, but I guess a gimmick's a gimmick. That said, pretty good selection of wines at all price points. Friendly staff too. read more

The Winey Neighbor - Hours - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

The owner's cool, laid back & unpretentious. She likes what she likes & stocks the shop accordingly. Unfortunately, for me, not enough variety, nor was there enough wine knowledge to make any strong suggestions. I'm very specific about my flavor profiles but EXTREMELY "open" to try new wines. I have to wait til the Winey Neighbor grows up into a Helpful Neighbor. Love the shop's layout. read more

Cute and quaint neighborhood wine shop. The owners are friendly and the prices are perfect for the area--they even have a table for cheapos like me! My favorite part is the music pairings on the wine description cards, so you can really set the mood. They also give out a frequent purchase card. read more

A gem of a wine shop on Washington Avenue. The room is big, but there are only about two bookcases full of wine. It's one of those shops you can't hide in. Fortunately, the very thing you're looking for--the cheap stuff--is right up front, in the form of a large $12 bottle table. Take another look at those $12 bottles: they look pretty interesting! A Muscato, a Gerwurtzraminer from Washington, awesomely-designed labels...and, as the proprieties proudly stated, "I've tried them all--I can personally vouch for all of these bottles." I was also informed that every Wednesday from 6-8, The Winey Neighbor will be holding wine tastings. People of Washington Avenue, let's support this new member of our blessedly still-cheap community! read more

Since the new ownership, I've seen some better wines on the shelves. Most are still a little high for me but they seem to have a good all around selection. If they could stay open an hour later, that would be great. All around great little neighborhood wine shop. read more

Perfect neighborhood wine shop. They're helpful and patient with indecisive customers, and the selection is great. This store is my favorite option for wine in Prospect Heights. They don't have a huge selection like the store up the street, but it's really not a problem. Winey Neighbor's prices are very reasonable -- they have a decent selection of $9-$13 bottles. They also include nice little cheat sheets for every bottle in stock. The staff is friendly and approachable, and it's just a pleasant experience being in the store. read more

Great little neighborhood spot. Looking forward to what the new owners do with the place, but if it's anything like the previous I'm a regular. They have an unbelievable amount of good cheep wines, and then some still very reasonable. See you soon! read more

I've been in a few time but today was the last straw. I came in today with my baby in a stroller and my in-laws (on foot) looking for a red. The curly haired girl gave us a neutral "hello" and that was really it. She watched us while we quickly selected a wine. There was a quiet transaction. Then she watched while I maneuvered the stroller to back out of the store only to remember that the door opens to the inside. I made light of the situation while I made fun of myself and had a laugh. She stared at me coldly while I corrected my exit strategy with the stroller and made my escape. Well. Pfft. It sucks that you don't like your job. My suggestion to you is to find something that you enjoy that will make you smile. 2 stars. 1 for having a fridge and an ok, yet limited selection. The other for being a nice looking store. 0 for customer service and personality. There are better wine stores in the community with friendly staff. read more

I love this place. It's close to home, and all very affordable for my budget. The couple who owns it is super nice and always helpful. The times I've walked in during a tasting were always nice - everyone's friendly and knowledgable. The wine descriptions are great - the music pairings are fun. They have nice hours too - seem to be open later than other wine shops in the area. read more

Great store! Great experiences every time. Every wine I have selected or been recommended has been so delicious. And every time I feel I have either gotten a great deal or have felt justified in the $ I have spent. So many really great choices for $12-$18 The owners here are also amazing. It's obvious that they truly work very hard to make it an enjoyable, peaceful, and chill experience. Not to mention the fun wine pairing to music selections. It's never that weird, awkward, stressful situation that sometimes happens walking into a small wine store when you just want to shop or if you need to ask for help. They don't hound you, AND they (the owners or any staff they have hired) really listen to you when you say what you like or are looking for. Never had a bad recommendation, and always choose them first if I can. Every time I have taken a recommendation of theirs to a party, or as a gift, I get huge compliments. read more

When you first walk in the decor is amazing, I can't really find the words to describe it but, calm and laid back with a bit of a hip look to it. I hadn't been in since the original owners left and I was really surprised at how different it was. The new center shelving unit has room for more wines, but there's much less description on the tags, and the few remaining "music pairings" feel halfhearted. Love Love Love this store! Awesome selection, super friendly staff. Just what our nabe needs! Yay!

4 stars, because sometimes there's a french bulldog in here. Otherwise a quality 3 star experience. Nice small business with a great selection of wines. I'm don't know too Mich about wine but I've spent a good amount if time in Bordeaux. Everything I've sampled from their selection is good.
