The man working in the shop was amazing!! Talked to us about Oregon wine and encouraged us to go next door for a tasting with a guest winemaker. They were about to finish tastings for the day so he told us to let them know he sent us over. We went next door and told the woman working that we'd like to taste. She was not super friendly or welcoming. Maybe because it was the end of the day? I can understand that. The guest winemaker poured our wines. He didn't take time to greet us or explain any of his wines to us. Just poured, said which one we were on, and walked away. Our second to last tasting left so much sediment in the bottom of the glass, which we know happens with reds. But we thought surely he would give us a fresh glass for the final pour. Nope. We planned to head back to the shop to buy some of The Wine Shack's label, but we were so disappointed by the tasting experience that we did not. I wish everyone there had had the energy and spirit of the man in the shop. It certainly would've changed our experience. read more

We stopped by at 3:45 on a Sunday afternoon. The proprietor quickly announced to us that wine tasting was not available and said if we hurried we could purchase bottled wine for the next ten minutes. Since we had stopped by hoping to taste, we were disappointed but asked him if there was another wine shop in town. His response was that he didn't know of any. We walked up the street and found a little shop (Laurel's Cannon Beach Wines) next to the address that Yelp lists as Westport Wines (now a real estate office). The owner said she had been in that spot for 40 years! She was knowledgeable and helpful and her wines are reasonably priced. We purchased four bottles of Oregon Pinot Noirs. read more

I visit Cannon Beach often, and The Wine Shack is one of my favorite places to stop for a tasting or a glass of wine. I almost always order a cheese board, which makes for a perfect, relaxed lunch. The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and welcoming, and the covered patio is a huge bonus since I can bring my dog and sit outside in most weather. The Chardonnay was wonderful, which is saying a lot as I don't typically care for Chardonnay. The wine shop is in a cottage style building and is surprisingly large and roomy inside, lots wood and natural light creating a warm and inviting space. The wines are arranged by varietal with plenty of space to walk around and explore. They carry lots of local wines from Oregon like Knudsen Valley, Penner Ash, Elk Cove and Alexana from the Willamette Valley plus wines from other parts of Oregon and Washington. And of course wines from around the country and globe including some noteworthy collectible bottles. While I go wine tasting frequently in Hood River, Williamette Valley and Washington, this was the first time wine tasting in Cannon Beach. After shopping at the surrounding boutiques and shops I came upon this charming wine shop and had to explore. Glad I did! Know that if you are going on a weekday, they open at 12:00 and close at 4pm with the last pour at 3:30. On Friday and Saturday they are open until 5:30. read more

Loooooveeee! Found this place when planning our trip. Was slightly confused by the hours online as there is a wine shop and tasting room. We were on a nearby hike and literally RAN on the way back to try to make it before the tastings ended. We got there probably ten minutes after they ended, but the owner allowed us to do one anyways, as it was my birthday! They were so sweet about it and did not seem upset to serve a little longer than usual. We chatted the entire tasting and then gave us great recs for the rest of our trip, while telling us about their wines! Each one was yummy and I couldn't pick a favorite. Nice local peeps. Stopped by here with a few friends after visiting the coastal region of Oregon. This is a small little wine shop in Cannon Beach area. My friend and I decided to get the wine tasting tour of the Puffin Wines that they produce from local oregon wine-makers. The man who managed the wine tastings took out a few bottles, poured us a glass, and walked away. No explanations or introductions to what we were drinking at all. Personally, I only do wine tastings just to learn more about the history of the wines and their winemakers. Perhaps he thought we were not the type of people to care about what type of wine we were drinking? I had asked him politely if he could introduce and talk a bit more about the Puffin Wines. He explained it very well and ended up having a good understanding of the Puffin Wine distribution, and an engaging conversation about the various vineyards here in Oregon (my first vineyard experience was in the Willamette Valley!). Overall: my friend and I had a good experience minus the awkward initial encounter. Would come back to buy their local wines! read more

It's a little hard to find them open and serving tasting flights right now and they only have the puffin wines for tasting (the website and menu inside has more drinks and cheese plates) BUT the local puffin wines were all worth trying! We ended up leaving with six bottles (you get a 10% discount) and the man running the store was very knowledgeable and helpful. My friends and I were visiting Seaside & Cannon Beach Oregon for a long weekend and stumbled upon this wine tasting business while exploring the area. Surprisingly there weren't many wine tasting places to try so we stopped in and had 2 tastings. Our server became quickly inundated with customers & while we were hoping for a better one-on-one experience of explaining the various different wines, it was clear she had no time to provide us that. We were patient throughout the tasting even though our wine glasses were empty for extended periods of time while she helped other customers. We used the the same glass for each tasting which was surprising but again we thought it was because she was busy. At one time we mentioned we were from California and that's when things went really south. Her attitude changed & she started giving us less than stellar service. When we went to pay we thought that our 2 tastings would go towards the price of 2 bottles and that we would get to keep our 2 glasses. We were told no on both accounts. When we left she followed us outside and said very rudely & aggressively, "what, they don't tip in California?!" It left us with a very bad impression and was completely unprofessional & not at all warranted. So much entitlement and the negative attitude towards us being from California was obvious. read more

This was our first time here and certainly not the last! My husband and I shared a wine flight (the Puffin one, to be exact) and enjoyed the wines! The general ambiance was welcoming, friendly and calm. It felt like a cozy little cottage where everyone was relaxed, drinking wine and chatting with one another. The gentleman working there was friendly, laid back and engaging. The music selection was great as well, a classic rock mix, and added to the chill vibe. I also want to add that the Puffin Chardonnay was one of the best Chardonnays I've ever had! That was the first pour of the flight and I knew early on that I'd be leaving with a bottle. :) We left with two bottles (the Chardonnay and Merlot) and will definitely be back the next time we're in Cannon Beach. read more

My friend and I stopped in here during a day trip to Cannon Beach after strolling around for a bit. They have wine tasting until 4:40 PM and were pretty strict about that time. The place is super cute, one side for tasting and the other being a bottle shop. They also had some outdoor seating that would be perfect on the right day. We came in about 4:30PM on a Saturday and it was us and one other big group but were greeted and taken care of very quickly. The tasting consists of 5 pours for 12 dollars!! That seems like a killer deal if you ask me. We spent about an hour inside and it was super relaxing and enjoyable. I am not a wine-o by any means but all of the wines were super yummy. Nice cozy spot to check out if you're in the Cannon Beach area. The lady and I parked extremely far away toward the north end of the beach and made a trek south to take a look at the sand castle competition. It was very cool but still early and crowded so we opted to roam the streets for drinks and food. This was our second stop and they had visitors from Seven Bridges Winery located in PDX so I tried their tasting menu, which was all reds...my fave. The lady got a white. If you're wondering what it was, so am I. Lol I can't remember. It was a pretty good visit. Fairly quick and to the point, service was good (except for a few awkward moments), and the wine we had from Seven Bridges were good. read more

The key to receiving good customer service anywhere is a smile and a question. Then be willing to listen, ask follow-on questions, listen.....and make decisions. That's my MO when I walk into any boutique were I may encounter a resident expert or the owner. I have found the folks who work at The Wine Shack to be helpful when I'm in need to suggestions and non- intrusive when I just want to wonder in look at the labels and options. They have wine tastings on fri/sat/sun afternoons and often have music on Saturday evenings. The price points span the range of pocketbooks; and while they have a large selection of Oregon and Washington wines they also have a solid selection from other regions. I can't wait for thanksgiving to try the wines they helped me select. read more

Went in yesterday 8/16/22.. walked in the older guy working there says I'm closing up shop ( business door was open , sign said open ) and he was waiting on two other customers . I was looking for a Rose wine . I asked him if he had any chilled he said there in house Rose.. okay I said any samples available ? He replied .. umm yes but I'm not going to dirty up a glass ..
