I purchased tickets to the Wine Feed's Flights & Bites event this past Sunday. The bites were catered by Brewery Bhavana and that's all I needed to know. The Winefeed is nestled on Glenwood and the heart of the new " Smokyhollow" neighborhood. We arrived after our reservation time due to the confusion with the location of the event. The location was not clearly stated on tickets. Philip was happy to seat us to enjoy the remainder of the event. There were several other ladies seated at the bar enjoying their flights. Our flights were pre-poured and the description of each bite was on a card which featured 3 small signature dumplings from Brewery Bhavana. My favorite of the 3 bites was the edamame ginger dumpling because it really brought out the flavor in the Domaine Eric Louis Pinot noir. I'm no fan of reds, so I was excited to move on to the Kanonkop Kadette Pinotage Rosè. This was perfect. They paired it with a Jiaozi Chicken Dumpling. The Rosè alone was perfection. It is a medium bodied wine from South Africa's famous home-grown grape variety. I plan to return for a bottle. Really enjoyed it. The last was a white wine paired with a pork and shrimp Shumai dumpling. I enjoyed the Shumai more than the white wine. The staff was kind and really aimed to please. We spent some time perusing the store after our flights & bites. If you are a real Wino, they offer a club membership. They offer patio seating for a nice sunny day on Glenwood. read more

I'm not usually a wine drinker but I was meeting a colleague after work and I wanted something classy. This is classy. The Wine Feed does have a few folks who come in for post-work wine and they have an excellent selection with a printed menu as well as a bunch of snacks that go well with wine. I chose the not-too-expensive Portuguese red which was from the same winery that I did a tasting of when I was in Porto last year. That was nice to see. I found this establishment located in a small store front and was intrigued by the presence of a large selection of wine. Just as you could guess there is a great selection of wine spread throughout, wine accessories and some exceptional vintage bottles for sale, including Dom Perignon. Although I am typically fancy the reds, I found a few whites I would consider. The wine "by the glass" menu offers a well rounded variety of reds and whites, they also have some snacks you can order to accompany your wine. Being that they know wine you won't have to worry about being served your drink in anything other than the proper glass. They do offer seating along the bar, seating alongside the windows and some outdoor seating as well, when its nice. I have not seen a time where there was not a place to sit as of yet, but I do find the low back on the chairs lacking in back support, maybe to deter loitering? I assume there is possibly a wine club that meets here, I may have sampled their fruit, cheese and crackers by mistake before the staff swiftly pulled it away, sorry! I always enjoy heading on in to the Wine Feed. The only downside is parking can be scarce on a busy Glenwood South evening. My favorite is their +&+ Prosecco and I feel like it is a pretty good bargain at only $10 a bottle. I like that they have the option of a few snacks, so if you are hungry you can at least grab something there while enjoying your wine. I recently went in for the cupcake and champagne tasting which was a lot of fun. By the end I had enough of the cupcakes (never thought I would say that). I thought all the pairings they selected for the event worked really well and I tried some tasty new sparkling wines that I may not have tried otherwise. The interior isn't huge, but they always end up having plenty of seating. We took the cheese and wine pairing over zoom this weekend and cannot wait to take another. The class was $70 for three bottles of fabulous wine, cheese for pairing and an hour long class that explained the history, pairings, information about the region of the wine, etc. We are not connoisseurs of wine so if someone can guide us to a good bottle we are grateful. We had several ratalloutille moments (remember when the mouse pairs cheese and a strawberry together with fireworks?!). Pick up was easy and covid safe. We are happy to support this local business. I love, love, love The Wine Feed. I went on Yelp yesterday to read my review and shocker I never wrote one I have no idea how that happened. I've visited The Wine Feed more than a few times now and I have never been disappointed. Every time I stop in I end up having such a great time I can't wait to come back. Part retail store part wine bar they have everything that you need. You can also order cheese plates to snack on while you're sipping your wine. The Wine Feed is by far my favorite place to grab a glass of wine. The wine flights that they offer are so good and I always end up finding a new vino to take home with me. The folks running this place (otherwise known as the 2 Phil's) are incredibly personable and friendly I would feel totally comfortable stopping in by myself knowing I'm always in good company. No matter what wine you are looking for if they don't have it they will be able to suggest something similar or order it for you. The store is all modern decor with a fancy white bar to enjoy your wine at. Don't let the upscale look fool you this place is as laid back as it gets. It is quality over quantity. Everything I've had here has been very good. If you aren't sure what you want, they have a few different flights you can choose in order to sample some. If you like it, you can take a bottle home, but get it while you're there because it may not be there next time. If you still have doubts, trust the folks pouring your beverages. Philip is great at some dealers choice pours. He also does a great wine cocktail as Mrs. B has had him concoct a few of those for her. I called from new york to have a wine basket made up for my daughter's 40th birthday. They could not have been more professional and accomodating to me in making the perfect basket. We chose the charcuterie basket, not so much for the price but for the products in it. Plus they changed the wine to a sparkling rose which she likes and we added the chocolate bar to it. Now, those who know me are probably looking at this review and thinking 'Wait - five stars for a place that isn't all about beer? What's happened to her?!' but guys, everything's fine - it just so happens that The Wine Feed has managed to do what no other place in America has done, and made me like wine again. Backstory: I used to live in France. We drank wine with pretty much every meal except breakfast (and even then, sometimes!). Fast forward to America, where I can't find the wines I'm used to drinking and balk at the prices on anything better than cooking-quality wine. Beer it is again! And then, one afternoon, one of the artists down the hall from my studio pops her head into my door and asks if I'm up for a wine tasting. Free wine? Sure thing! So I follow her down what looks like a loading ramp into what appears to be a basement. . .and the door opens to an elegant industrial space with bold paintings, gorgeous old windows, and a sleek corner bar bearing several bottles of wine. We slide up to the bar, where we're greeted, offered a leaflet informing on the different wines for that evening's tasting, and asked if we'd like to start with the reds or the whites. My friend is a fan of the whites, so we're poured a glass of a lovely French wine. . . . . .and I am transported back to the forest where we used to go hiking, because this wine tastes (and I know this sounds crazy, but it did) like the smell of the air, rocks, earth and trees in the woods around the town where I used to live. POW. Wine. I am back. The rest of the wines (two Italian, another French) were also quality. Were the prices Three-Buck Chuck cheap? No, but neither were they priced out of all sense, and there's overall a range in the pricing with plenty to fit into the average budget; definitely worth the occasional splurge, especially if you want something delicious as opposed to just something that contains alcohol. Imported good things are rarely cheap unless you're buying where they're made, and a bottle of wine is certainly more affordable than a ticket to Europe. We've been back since and so far have found nothing but quality, and the fellows who run the place both have a knack for finding just the right wines to suit your palate once they're familiar with your tastes. They have regular tasting events as well as other events, including First Fridays, so if you're out on Glenwood and feel the need for some grape-based refreshment, don't hesitate to head down that loading ramp! No snobbery, no attitude, just great wines. I might not be able to fly back to France whenever the need strikes, but thanks to The Wine Feed, I can enjoy a little taste of it now and again! read more

We had a brief stay at the Hampton Inn Suites due to a house fire earlier this year and we were thankful we stayed there because we stumbled upon one of the best wine bar's we have ever stepped foot in!! We have visited several (okay...we might be regulars) times and each time to be greeted, helped, served, and suggested with great service by great people. Phillip and Philip really bring a great vibe to a wine bar, not to mention they are both very personable. Do not think that just because it is a wine bar, it is expensive, they have wine on tap/bottle that is $6 a glass (of course it can go up from there) and those $6 glasses are not bad wine. The guys really want people to enjoy wine and not feel wine has to be "out of budget" to anyone. They have several price points in their store and many of them are under $20 for GOOD wine. The Wine Feed also offers classes to educate and enjoy the experience of wine. We have taken two classes and enjoyed each one (wine & cheese, and cabernet). It's not the type of class that you feel you need to "know" anything beforehand and they welcome questions of all kinds. We joined the wine club and look forward to at LEAST one monthly visit to pick up our wines. After the first wine club we learned that the wine club is a great value, there are four options depending on your budget and taste. The Wine Feed isn't a retail store per se, but they do offer monthly wine classes in their space - 18 Glenwood Ave. It's tucked back off the road, so you've got to look for it. It's just past the cupcake shop on the left side of the road going towards Hillsborough St. This past week I had the opportunity to sit in on the French wine class. It was very informative with a brief, high level geography overview followed by 6 wines to taste from the most popular regions within France. I learned which grapes are most prevelant in each of the regions. They're great at making it an interactive experience...taking questions, making jokes, etc to lighten the mood and process of learning about wine. They even had a shrimp, avocado bite to pair with the white wine and champagne - nice touch and bang for your buck at only $20. They had a nice set up - several tables with black table cloths. The 6 glasses were on a piece of paper with the name and price of the wine under the glass. FYI - you get a 15% discount on any of the wines from the class if you buy that night. The Wine Feed is owned and ran by two young guys, both of which are named Phil. They are very knowledgeable about wine in a non-intimidating way. One Phil spent a couple of years in France while the other Phil spent time in Spain which gives them quite the background to introduce you to something you may not be familiar with, which is always a plus. While this isn't a retail store, someone's always there during normal business hours so if you're in the hood, stop on by. They cellar all their wines in this space and are happy to make suggestions/recommendations. They're excellent at finding you a deal - I have a friend that loves Cakebread Cabernet, and Phil found her something VERY comparable at a fraction of the price. Ordered: I ordered the 2015's First Rose Flight for $10.00 and also had the Glenwood Breeze wine cocktail for $9.00. My favorite wine out of the Rose Flight was the 2014 Domaine de la Bastide "Figue." This was a perfect blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah. My least favorite was the 2014 Ostatu Cabernet Sauvignon which to me tasted very chalky and earthy. The Glenwood Breeze is a perfect summer drink! Anything with pineapple and cucumber undertones is perfect in my book. Establishment: I drove by this twice when I was trying to locate it! I thought the whole building was a hotel. Once my Waze app got it together I saw the little logo sign and found parking. Being from Baltimore I was worried that I wouldn't find parking, however, unlike Baltimore I didn't have to scream and run after a parking spot--there were plenty. Inside was super clean, fresh and crisp. The store was adorable and accessible with enough room to venture around. The whole space was inviting and bright. The bar was up-to-date and organized. I was surprised by how everything was so nicely merchandised and organized. Even the menu was easy to read and enjoy. Employees: I had the pleasure of meeting both Philip and Phillip. Both know what they are doing and are tremendously knowledgeable of wine and travel. They both are exceptionally educated on wine--they totes know their wine history. These are the type of people that I can sit and listen to for hours. If I didn't have a plane to catch I would have done so. Fun Facts: Not only do they deliver wine to your door in certain areas, they will bring wine to the Videri Chocolate Factory! Now I know what I will do my next visit! Organic chocolate and wine, amazing! They also have aboard wine tastings and classes that you can sign up for in which the two owners will take you on a lifetime experience! I wish I had the time and money to do so! I am still contemplating the Tuscany trip they have coming up, very tempting. Wine Feed has a cool wine club feature too. I believe there is four different wine club features; Relax is $25 a month, Inspire is $70 a month, Revive is $35 a month and Savor is $40 a month. Being in the wine club gets you two bottles of great wine (believe me these two know how to select their wines), recipes and food paring information and discounts on re-orders of wine (wines that have been featured in the club). I used The Wine Feed for my wedding and could not be happier. My then fiance and I enjoy wine and knew we wanted to stock our wedding bar with a couple of wines to impress on a budget. After asking us a few questions about our vision, the wedding and what we would be serving, The Wine Feed gave several recommendations that would flow through our event, including lighter wines that would go well during the cocktail hour. We ended up having a few bottles shipped to us first, and the shipping was timely and the packaging was great. We had a taste testing at our apartment and our guests were thoroughly impressed (we live in NYC, it's not that easy to impress!). All of the recommendations were so great and so interesting, we ended up actually picking multiple wines for the evening whereas originally we planned to only have 2. The variety of wines The Wine Feed offers is incredible and what's more is that they are very knowledgeable and can educate you. They are very professional and their pricing is competitive for sure. Fabulous place for a group wine tasting event! The location: One of the best places to hold an event is, of course, trendy Glenwood Avenue. The Wine Feed is far enough away from a lot of the action so it is easy to get in and out of by using side streets, even on busy Saturday nights. However it is also close enough to walk to from other nearby Glenwood hot spots. The venue: The big open gallery space is great for a crowd. I hosted an event for about 50 people and there was plenty of space for people to mingle or sit and relax with a bite to eat. Even though it is an open space the atmosphere is still cozy and inviting. Dim lighting, artwork on the walls and candles make it feel upscale without the price or pretentiousness. The wines: I have been a part of two wine tasting events here - one focused on French wines, the other on Italian wines (thinking the next event could be October, focus on Germany??). I leave the wine selection up to Philip & Phillip and have yet to be disappointed. The best part is that they expertly select a variety of wines and often times introduce us to varietals we have not experienced yet. The wines are simply amazing and perfectly selected for our events. The guys & girls: Everyone I have worked with at The Wine Feed is professional, easy to work with, and very knowledgeable about the products. The best part is that everyone is approachable and friendly. This is why I have hosted 2 events here and will continue to bring the group in the future. Elijah and I visited in passing and were pleasantly surprised. The wine selection was great and reasonably priced. The employee working at the time was friendly and offered us samples of three wines while providing us a brief history of each wine. He also gave us suggestions on what to pair each wine with. He went above and beyond to offer suggestions of things we could do and places to explore while wrapping up our stay in Raleigh. We would definitely recommend visiting this establishment and would visit again if we are in Raleigh. read more

The Wine Feed is the perfect combination of diverse good quality wines at affordable prices served by very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I can't wait for a new month to come around so I can pick up my bottles from the wine club plus try a few selections. Love coming to the wine bar and sampling the latest.
