Where to start. Stumbled upon this gem when they opened many years ago. We started stopping by to taste wines from the dispenser cases and then learned about the Thursday night wine tastings which were a blast. COVID hit and shut it all down and while the Thursday night event never came back, we still love to go on Thursday's. We have fallen in love with some great and inexpensive wines (shout out to Carmita and Golden) as well as a few less cheap but amazing! We have loved getting to know all of the employees over the years. They really do feel like family. If you like wine, like to taste wine and like to meet fun people-- this is your place.

    Wine heaven!

I have to totally agree with Rose's review. She nailed it with how wonderful this place is for wine-lovers. And I have to add that it is also so for non-wine lovers (i.e. Husband who not only managed to enjoy his time with me here, but even brought home wine that he wanted himself!). Note to owner Husband and Wife...you sure know what you're doing and you have done well to plan for what makes different folks happy. The wine that was done in Pappy barrels...uh, it went home with us for sure for Husband! As did a few (cough) others for me. Wente chardonnay on sale, just sayin'. Especially loved how easy and affordable it is to buy a card and taste so many wines. Just ten bucks enabled both of us to be more than satisfied with our tastings. This is a wine store for everyone! From the novice who wants to learn and try (uh, me) to the experienced wine-expert...you are so covered here!

I settled on a couple of great Napa Cabs, and Chris promised to set them aside for my wino friend.

My wife's a Certified Somm. (CMS) and works for an importer/supplier now so I'm alwaus trying to scope out places to take we her to (or avoid) on my visits by myself. Great Grapes is a keeper. Very Knowledgeable help (a friend here lived in Italy and was very gracious with his time too) and I manages to strike gold on 2 finds that won't break the bank but are simply those lucky price point flavor profiles you can get for $18-$25/bottle...a real steal! The shop is clean, organized, and has a nice little tasting section--the 2 bottles I walked out with were both a result of the store opening a bottle of each for me to buy a glass, so that's an above and beyond effort--not to make the sale--but since I stated I was just in to try a glass or two, it was simply to see me walk away pleased with my sampling. 5 stars!!! I'll be back with my wife this summer.

Lowes Foods is one of those. The store itself is like any other grocery store, but they always do a good job of stocking local, and regional fare that isn't available outside the area unless you spend a fortune having it shipped. Lowes chicken -- all things chicken from the deli is one of those --- as must as I like WFoods, Lowes does their chicken and chicken salad in a certain way that just puts it in the win column for me. The version with cranberries -- not in stock when I was there -- was always a go-to. Other things I didn't know I would miss until they weren't available: pimento cheese spread -- yeah -- I know -- pretty common , ordinary, and often considered low-brow, but there are rare times where something so ordinary would hit the spot. Easy to make, but not to duplicate. Maybe it's not the food so much as it is the "southernness" of Lowes and the offerings they have that aren't found elsewhere, either at the other chain stores in the area or in other parts of the country. I don't know what it is, but Lowes shouldn't be overlooked if you want a store with local roots.
