When you step into Sunrise, you have the feeling that you took a step back in time. There is a…read morelong counter with stools for diners who might enjoy watching the cooks work their flat-tops. There are plenty of booths and formica-topped tables with wooden chairs. And there are kind waitresses and waiters who work with incredible energy and efficiency to end your hunger. Arriving on a weekday, we were directed to seat ourselves and within minutes, a waitress came by to get our drink orders. We reviewed the menu heavy on breakfast dishes (and noticed breakfast buffet deal of $13.95 that was offered on weekends that is surely to a big draw). Four of us got pancakes or waffles and one of us got a dish that must have been designed with vegetarians in mind of hash browns smothered in veggies with upcharges for cheese, eggs or breakfast meats. Our food arrived in minutes. The waitress quipped the cooks are fast and they are. The pancakes and the waffles were well received. The ham side ordered by one person was not sliced from a true ham but more like a deli ham. The shredded hash browns would have benefitted from a few more minutes on the flat-top but they were still solid. The veggies on top of the hashbrowns were soon soaked in hot sauce and while the broccoli may have been frozen, everything tasted good mixed together. The downside of Sunrise came in the form of whipped spread (vegetable oil) offered instead of butter and american cheese as the option for the hash brown deluxe dish. Real butter and cheddar cheese would have made a BIG difference in the taste of the pancakes, waffles, toast and the hash brown dish. That is why I gave Sunrise three stars. I would highly encourage the owners to reconsider the decision to use vegetable oil based substitutes for cheese and butter and earn a 4 star review. There are so many things to love about Sunrise. Our meal moved smoothly and the waitress handled a take out order for us that was waiting on the counter when we paid our check. We tipped 25%, remembering the direction from "LIfe's Little Instruction Book" that breakfast was a less expensive meal but the work for waitresses did not change... so always add a little more. We hope you do too!

They even have a mimosa if that's what you're craving. In addition they have a great menu of breakfast fare featuring zhuzzed up toasts to breakfast sandwiches. Don't miss the pastry case as you walk in. Oh my! Beware the drool. We found a comfy spot on the porch and ordered a latte and a hot chai. As well as an avocado toast and a pastry case stand out peanut butter and chocolate roll. Our server was as nice as the sunshine and quick witted as well. The food and drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. Glad I was able to snap photos before we dug in. Both items were as gorgeous as they were tasty. My roll was even warmed to kick up the decadence one extra notch! The only area for improvement - a minor one - need a sharper knife to get through the sturdy crust of the avocado toast. The standard knife was no match and resulted in making a crime scene of this breakfast plate. Food, drinks and service were all top notch. As I left I shared my compliments and I felt they truly appreciated my business. I'd go back in a heartbeat! You should definitely visit Mi Vida

Since not much was going on at 10am on a Wednesday in April, we walked around a little bit and then found Mi Vida, which we stopped in to get a little refreshment. The cafe is small, but adorable, and the employees were super nice. I ordered an Americano with oat milk and the barista was so cool in asking me how much milk I wanted because, as she put it, "I know how important the color of my coffee is when I order it". Also got a key lime scone to go which was lovely and not overly sweet. Just fyi, parking lot is small and shared with other businesses, so be aware of that.

Do not get the coffee at Sea Wolf Tybee…read more In Sea Wolf's defense, our server told me as such. I ordered coffee, and he practically begged me not to. "Imagine Folgers... but worse," he said. I grew up on Eight O'Clock coffee--the only brand worse than Folgers-- so opted to brave the drip from Sea Wolf Tybee. How bad could it really be? Really bad. The Sea Wolf Tybee coffee was really, really, bad. The owners have made a deal with the barrier island devil where their successful establishment came at the expense of serving the worst coffee on earth. The coffee wasn't just bland, it was reeking with flavor, as if a tybee island horseshoe crab has been decaying in the coffee pot since the eatery was established in 2020. The server tried his hardest to prevent this 4-star review by warning me about the coffee, and in his defense the taste is not why I deducted Sea Wolf Tybee one star. I deducted one star because the vile 12oz cup of black drip coffee was $5 dollars. Like any diner at a lunch spot, I did not check the coffee's price before ordering it, assuming it'd be the standard $2-3 dollars. Even specialty coffee shops max their drip coffee prices at $4.50. Instead, Sea Wolf Tybee has opted to charge $5, rake-in a 95% profit margin, and exploit the trust of patrons who assume a cup of joe won't cost as much as Georgia's hourly minimum wage. I'm a former barista and coffee-lover, and $5 is the most expensive drip coffee I have ever encountered. Sea Wolf Tybee had outdone itself--the bill was more nauseating than the coffee.
