From the moment we walked in, we noticed prolonged stares that immediately made us feel unwelcome even though we there to meet other locals we met at a nearby restaurant. We were taking a few photos of ourselves and the bar to document our trip (nothing disruptive, and no signage indicating photos weren't allowed). Shortly after, a bartender accused us of taking inappropriate photos of her, which was completely untrue. She asked us to delete the photos, and I obliged. Before we were even given a chance to explain, we were aggressively intimidated by staff and bar goers and told to leave immediately. The entire interaction felt abrupt, confusing, and embarrassing. We were respectful customers who didn't even get the opportunity to clarify what we were doing. Regardless of intent, the situation was handled poorly and left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. We were excited to experience a local mountain bar, but unfortunately this was not a positive or inclusive experience.

In the past number of years the Westside Pavilion has hosted an array of shows including Snoop Dog, Pat Benator, Peter Frampton, Smokey Robinson etc. As a venue - Westside Pavilion is solid. There is lawn seating. There is free parking (though it does get busy for big concert events.) There is plenty of room to move around. There is grass to lounge on. The sound is on point. And throughout the recent festival that I attended, the trailer style bathrooms were easily accessible, well-maintained, and air conditioned. Once the sun sets and the stars illuminate the sky, Western Pavilion is quite magical, but as a daytime summer venue, it can get uncomfortably hot. I recommend coming prepared. The festival I attended was well organized, but mother nature's heat is definitely something to consider. For a cooler time - be sure to bring a hat, a fan, drink plenty of water (the colder the better), and pace yourself.
