This agency has helped both my children so much. The therapist my kids have is so nice and my kids love her.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army does so much to help people. They have great heart behind their mission. The…read moreshelter at 5 points has great potential. It's just very poorly run. If they recruited proper management there, I think this location would really thrive. But unfortunately, the current management picks and chooses, and not according to policy. They discriminate against individuals suffering from mental health issues. I saw this first hand with my brother. He would tell me what was happening over there and at first, I didn't take what he was telling me seriously. But after further conversations, I looked further into it and he was absolutely right. I actually went over and interviewed several people at different times that were staying there, and they all told me the same thing. The manager there discriminates and it broke my heart to hear their experiences, how they were treated and belittled, and how it made them feel. I did call the Corporate's office and report her, but it will remain broken until they get someone in there that actually cares about the homeless. I completely understand that it is very difficult to run a homeless shelter and there are many that break the rules. I'm sure they deal with mental health outbursts on a daily basis, but they should also be trained in this area to deal with it and not just kick these individuals to the curb. She should be held accountable for her actions. She is power hungry and abuses that power. Time and time again, my brother asked for counseling, help with job applications and any resources for rehab, but even his case worker did not help him with any of that. They advertise it on their website and make it sound that they do everything in their power to help, but they do not follow through with any of it. The food is minimal and horrible. Even the security guards say it's run poorly. Many people quit because of her. If they got the right director in there, it would be outstanding. It's a great location and a great building. It's just very poorly run.
