I came here towards the end of the night with friends and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. They had a Friday pizza night deal where pizzas were all $15 and came with a bottle of Chianti for a $10 up charge. While this was a good deal, I didn't really fall in love with anything we ate. The sidepiece pizza was drier than expected considering ricotta was one of the cheeses on it and the Caesar salad and Buffalo calamari didn't really stand out. A hidden gem that I'm so happy to have tried! From the beautiful old building, cute courtyard and bar, this place is so inviting. The food is amazing - we shared the giant pretzel served with meats, cheeses, fruits, pub cheese, and the most delicious honey mustard I've had in a while charcuterie style. We shared the shoemakers pasta and the white pepperoni pizza - absolutely delicious. Disappointing. Went on a Wednesday night eager to try the menu that I had reviewed on their yelp site. Unfortunately the restaurant handed over its kitchen and service to a taco pop up so the only food available circled around tacos. Once that was explained to us and I understood we were not getting one of the normal entrees for the restaurant we thanked our waitress, explained we were looking for their normal menu then we left. We will try again after Labor Day when we have a chance at the regular menu and not pop ups for tourists. read more

We've been to Whitechapel a handful of times now. They have a menu with something for everyone, a fully stocked bar, and a good amount of space. The bar and table service has been good and the food has been top notch. My nitpick comes from their beer selection. They have a modest selection of brews but very few, if any of their own. On my last visit, I didn't see any of their own beer on the list which was disappointing to me because I always want to try beer from the brewery that I'm visiting. Hopefully they can get more of their brews on tap soon and live up to the brewery name! read more

What a great venue for a wedding! The staff is very attentive and, as the father of the groom, I was taken care of very well. We were able to walk over from our hotel, The Bungalow, but there is ample street parking too. The large outdoor space can be tented and used for the ceremony as well as for serving a sit-down meal and setting up a dance floor. There are also various indoor spaces including a bar for cocktail hour(s). Food quality was great as was the overall experience! Great place although it is off the beach. The kitchen is top notch with lots of different tasty dishes to choose from including kids chicken fingers that are worth eating. Service is great too and the it is better even to sit outside if you are able because the inner courtyard is amazing. Food was meh, the menu isn't descriptive enough and you cannot figure out what you are ordering. For example we saw an option for grilled veggies and balsamic glaze, turned out to be a pizza and we had no idea it was a pie. Vegan bolognese - good but again, had no idea it was mushroom based. I need to preface this by saying this meal took place in Feb 2024, so hopefully things are better now. It has stuck with us until now so I am writing this review. We were big fans of Trinity and the Pope in Asbury, it was such a special place. When we saw Whitechapel advertised some Trinity specials for their Mardi Gras celebration, we were so excited and made reservations. When we arrived, we were told someone stole our table and they set us up at a table in the music area. I requested on the phone to be sat outside the room where the band would be playing because we thought it would be too loud. The person on the phone never changed our reservation size or preferences so eight of us were crammed at a table for six. We looked over the menu and there were maybe three Trinity specials. The Jambalaya had braised meat and chicken wings on the bone inside? The peppers were crunchy and not cooked enough. The shrimp beignets were full of air and chewy. The $25 pretzel came with cheap charcuterie meats, orange slices, berries, pomegranate seeds, honey mustard and pimento cheese. The burger had manchego instead of cheddar, it's like they just used whatever was lying around the kitchen. Every burger was cooked one level or more below what was requested. They ended up taking all of them off the bill because we couldn't eat them they were so rare. The pizzas looked worse than what you would get at a bowling alley- cheap ingredients, very floppy. Our server was lovely but brought us our complimentary shrimp beignets at the end of the meal. They were better than the ones we ordered with our meal. Our server and the host/manager kept saying the kitchen was slammed since they normally have only a few tables a night. That would not explain the cheap ingredients. Drinks were around $14 each and the people in our group said they were the worst Manhattans they've ever had. They used chipped ice and became watered down. They did not look like they were made properly. I sincerely hope things have improved as it seems like many people enjoy this place. read more

The food was great and came out quickly. But our waitress disappeared completely and we finished our food, and had been finished for awhile before she came back. We had asked someone if we could order drinks, but they said they had to look for our waitress. It left a bit of a bad taste in our mouth as neither her nor any one of the other employees that were standing around came to check on us. So we ended our visit early. read more

Awesome place to hang as the beach gets crammed jammed with people. The setting includes various forms of seating here from bar, to courtyard, to communal benches (perfect for your party of 4+) and then patio with more communal benches and view of the live music if any is performing. Difference between the courtyard area and the patio area is the courtyard is a bit more low key and no live music, but both you're sitting outside. I think this is one of the best parts about being here, that is whatever vibe you and your friends are feeling, you can go there (provided it isn't too crowded) I had the burger and fries which was alright and hit the spot but nothing that sets it a part from the run of the mill bar burgers I've had at many other places. There are however many other options in the way of grilled food I did not get to try. The drink options are plentiful with the bartenders eager to make recommendations, complete with an indoor and outdoor counter to get drinks at. Overall, I found this to be a great place to hang out and have drinks whether the beach is crowded or otherwise. Come by to hang out for some drinks. We had a great evening and good food at TWP last week. The outdoor seating is comfortable and spacious. There were some large groups enjoying happy hour and snacks but the area did not seem crowded at all. Our meals were really very good. My wife had a green goddess salad that she said was one of the best salads she had in a long time and I had the Whitechapel Burger which was really delicious. The beer selection was good with a few brewed onsite and the rest from local NJ breweries and we both enjoyed our choices. The food and service was good, and the ambiance was excellent in holiday season. My son ate there with friends last week and was dinged for the $50 hold reservation charge. It took him a couple phone calls to be reimbursed. Fast forward to our reservation, and we were charged a hold reservation fee immediately after making the reservation. It was put on my wife's card and the charge has not been removed after two phone calls over five days. This is completely unacceptable, and has tainted my experience at WCP. read more

My boyfriend and I came by yesterday for our first time for Happy Hour. What a gorgeous place to come wine and dine on any occasion. WCP was hosting a restaurant takeover and the menu was curated by Salt and Smoke Kitchen, which is a family run business that specializes in live fire cooking. The staff was lovely and the food was amazing! We tried the Smoked Chicken Wings and St. Louis Ribs (YUM!) Everything we ate was seasoned so well and cooked to perfection. The meat just falls right off the bone! The Fried Pickles are a MUST HAVE. Truly, the best fried pickles I have ever had in my entire life! And for dessert we couldn't decide between the Cinnamon Sugar Donuts or the Mini Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches...so we got both! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the Donuts, because they were devoured before I got the chance. This is an amazing place! We have passed by on many occasions until now.. It will be a must stop for us while in Long Branch! The space is utilized well, open concept however it offers a variety of sitting options to please all, from groups to solo diners. We sat for a bit in their patio space to enjoy the warm evening... There is disk jockey playing music from here which can be appreciated by the surrounding area. We had already eaten and only tried their selection of brews.. I ordered a flight of 5 picked from the menu due to their intriguing description. I can't tell you which I liked best! They were all soooo good! Really solid addition to the neighborhood in Long Branch. The place is HUGE! Especially liked the outdoor space - really cute and has lights up at bight. Beer selection is on point and they change it up quite a bit. Prices are a bit above average for NJ, reminds me a bit more of NYC prices. I did like they give you an option to do a 4 oz. 4 people of us 1. Service: no menu ever offered! My husband took one from next table, since nobody bring us menu, later we took another one from another table. Then waitress came asked what to order for drink without offering us menu. Soon as she brought us drinks, a waiter came to us ask for order food. I said we need few minutes( since 4 of us were taking turns to check 2 menus). As soon as he left, the waitress came back to us and ask for ordering food again. I told her "we need a few minutes, I don't even see the menu yet" and she just walked away. I had to got up and told the 3rd menu from the table behind of us! Ridiculous service, 4 people had to take 3 menus ourselves from other tables. 2. Ordered 3 Bloody Mary, all of us feel it has either no alcohol or way less alcohol than it should be in. 3. I was keeping an eye out for this place to open for the last couple of years. Well it finally did open and I can see why it took so long. They completely gutted and renovated an old brick building. I would term this place a brewpub because it is a brewery and they serve food. WCP right now is in a rundown part of LB. I say right now because the area, much like coastal LB, is going through a regentrification process. So in a few years I expect the city to have implemented further plans toward revitalization. Until then this place is an oasis. As you enter, you are in an old brick courtyard, if you will, that seems to be perfect for al fresco dining in more clement weather. Upon entering you walk over a mini moat (you have to see it) and now face a pretty lavishly and tastefully done bar. There are a few "rooms" here also beautifully done including a band stage for live music. You should go here at least once to take in the atmosphere and enjoy some fresh beer. My only minor complaint are the prices. There is a small menu; only 12 items. I didn't eat here but I spoke to a fellow patron who had the $15 burger and said it was "ok". An order of fries is the cheapest thing I saw at $6. I got a 14oz double ipa $7. Very good. I imagine WCP will do quite well during the warm weather. Good luck. read more

Found this place on yelp earlier this week so my wife and I decided to give it a try. 1st off their building is absolutely awesome. The size is incredible and we cant wait to come drink some beers outside this summer. Food: had the ploughmans plate. It was an assortment of pickled veggies and included awesome bread and cheese. Everything on the plate was incredible. Beer: they had 3 of their own beers on tap. We enjoyed all 3. They also had guest beers on tap which was a nice touch. Cool place Great look and outdoor space. Don't bother making a reservation as there is no host and I guess the waitstaff seat you as soon as they have a free moment Service I give an A. The severs have great knowledge of the menu and beverages. Cocktails underwhelming and served in banquet glasses so the portions are not like normal restaurants or going to a distillery, they are smaller and meh. Again the decor is cool and earthy. The beverage station in the middle of the room is odd. As a restaurant designer and owner I couldn't figure it out. The food is presented nice but everything we had was bland and had no flavor. Pretzels - no flavor, shrimp no flavor, burger. No flavor. The only items that had flavor was the fries and the potato soup. Which is funny as there both potatoes. Hubby and I stopped by to check the new brewery in town after a long wait for it to open. I was very pleasantly surprised with what they've done with the building located in one of the more run down areas of Long Branch. Over the past year or so I've driven by frequently and admired the imagination and talent that went into the murals painted on the side of the building. The building is stone and looks beautiful. Upon entering you find yourself in a courtyard which I'm sure will be fantastic in the warmer months. Step into the building through the door on the right and you find yourself in the bar area. There are more murals along the walls inside the bar area as well as a few tables and tabletops where you can stand. There looked to be about 15 beers on tap and I tried the IPA. It did not disappoint. Wandering around the inside I came across another room where they presumably will have live music. There was a stage and several long, communal type tables lit with candlelight. It was beautiful! Outside there are even more tables and art in the enclosed yard. On this winter day it was barren but in warmer weather this too will be a great place to hang out. Although they do serve food we chose not to eat here. I have heard the food is good but it was a bit eclectic for my mood this particular evening. Maybe another time. I recommend checking this brewery out. It's off to a good start and I see a lot of potential here, especially as the area around it is soon to be reborn. read more
