I recall it being one of the only bubble tea spots in the area with decent drinks and I'm glad it's lasted so long. I got one of their newer matcha drinks and the taste was nice - what really pushed the review to five stars was one of the workers genuinely asking for my opinion and being transparent about how they were actively sourcing good matcha and experimenting with drink mixes. Super innovative and friendly! Overall, nice staff and nice drinks. Here's hoping it sticks around for another decade!

Thank God this place exists for people like me. One time I went outside and spilled my tea by mistake, and when I came back in to get napkins, they gave me two new teas free of charge. There was no one waiting at Okinawa Boba, which worked out for me, since I was in a bit of a rush. I usually prefer to get the fruit tea, but here they only make milk based drinks. I think in the summer, when it's still hot out, it's much more refreshing to have a fruit tea, than a milk based tea. I got the Ichigo Ruby, this is the strawberry flavor. The other options looked pretty good too. This looked so good, the way that the milk and the strawberry sauce marked the cup. As an added bonus, the strawberry jelly was heart shaped. I really enjoyed the Ichigo Ruby drink. It was pretty sweet and very tasty. I would come here again in the future.

A small cafe just off the UConn campus but it has a surprisingly large menu of Chinese-styled…read more dishes and flavored teas (including boba) - and both are prepared well, satisfying and tasty, and reasonably priced. You order at the counter and pick it up when ready in take-out containers. The cafe has a few tables for dining-in but no table service (and no tableware save for disposable chopsticks and utensils). While we were there, it was obvious that they do a brisk take-out biz. I had a scallion beef which was excellent; my daughter had one of their signature double-cooked pork dishes (which I must have next time), and my wife had a good garlic eggplant dish. My lychee tea was bang-on good, sweet and satisfying; my daughter's kumquat-lemon tea was crisp and refreshing. Service is quick and friendly. Definitely worth it!

On occasion I might be in a mood for a crisp and refreshing bubble tea. We stopped by Wukong Tea…read moresince we were in the area. Wukong Tea is located in the same plaza as Stop & Shop in South Windsor. The inside is cute but looked like a daycare classroom. The walls were covered in kid's doodles and drawings, there's a table with Legos, a shelf with stuffies, a bit overkill if you ask me. They offer a large assortment of teas, slushies, smoothies and more. I got the Peach Lemonade with tapioca. We also got a few of the macarons. For a place that specializes in bubble tea, this wasn't good. I got the Peach Lemonade, there was nothing peach about this tea, as far as the lemonade it had just a splash of flavor and a lot of color. The tapioca were pleasantly chewy. The macarons were like eating cardboard, very artificial. I've had better ones from Aldi and Trader Joe's. This was a very disappointing experience at Wukong Tea.

Okay tea, trying but odd…read more Came here cause they just opened up. The space is sparse but functional. Lots of stuff for the kiddos but not much else. They had a few spaces for kids to play, and a bunch of plushies on the wall for people to buy.it's definitely aimed for the young ones in terms of decor and layout. When we first came in, we got an overwhelming scent of tapioca balls. A cooked rice and sugar smell which was very predominate and distracting. If you didn't know the smell, you would call it astringent and funky. Not a good sign. Lots of sweets on the menu and the drinks lean towards sweet. They offer lots of "poppers" in a lot of different flavor options, with some inventive selections such as cheese, red bean, and water chestnut. Drinks are about 5.50 for a medium, with poppers coming in as a .50 cent add on. I opted for the red bean milk tea with red bean poppers. Cause I just wanted to try a red bean popper. Drinks came out quick and we took our pics and sips. The tea was non-existent, was a blended red bean drink with lots of red bean flavor but none of the sweetness that push it closer to a dessert item. The red bean poppers delivered on the red bean texture. Flavor was lacking compared to the drink, and was very firm. Almost like a jelly encased bean. The missus got a matcha green tea which was better executed. Lighter on the tea but sweet and creamy. It's not a space for the older folk, and I don't know how I feel about it as a hip or trendy drink spot. It's not bad, but it's not a great drink spot either. Some spaces are not to peoples preferences though, and I get that. As a traveler of sorts, I don't think there's enough to have me try them again.

Finally, FINALLY, FINALLY! A good spot in the Hartford area with some GOOD matcha lattes!…read more The place is small but cozy. Definitely not somewhere I'd bring a big group to hang out, but it's perfect for a couple of girlfriends to sit, chat, and sip. I was honestly a little skeptical about trying another matcha place after my experience somewhere else, but I'm SO happy I gave this place a chance! I tried the guava matcha, lightly sweetened, and added the cheese cloud. Yes, the cheese cloud is an extra charge, but MAN... do not sleep on it! It is a MUST TRY. It added just a little sweetness with a slightly salty twist to the drink, and it somehow made the whole thing even better. You can tell it was made with love. I didn't try any of the baked goods simply because I can't have gluten, but I will absolutely be back for more drinks! Finally found a matcha spot I'm excited about!

Bliss Matcha & Beyond is brand new to the area. This is a matcha cafe offering specialty matcha,…read moredrinks and desserts. There's also a location in New Haven that I've been meaning to go to, I just haven't had the chance to yet. This cafe is so beautiful on the inside. One of the walls is all mirror, they have bar stools and some tables with chairs. The menu has so many options. I decided to go for the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte. It is likely that the man taking my order was hired either yesterday or today. He was so confused, he pointed to the menu at what I ordered and I reassured him, that's it. After a very short wait my order was ready. I was very surprised I didn't see any whisking or blending. My order was entirely wrong. Since I am non confrontational, I took the wrong order. I got the Banana Pudding. I have made this exact pudding before. It consists of vanilla pudding, vanilla wafers, condensed milk and sliced banana. Was it tasty? Yes absolutely! But I'd much rather get something that I can't make my self. The small cup was about the size of a small ice cream cup for $7. The bananas were fresh and the pudding was rich and creamy, the wafers were broken and soft. The mirrored walls were handy for making sure I'm not leaving with some sort of cream on my face. I indeed used it for this purpose. Bliss likely has something I would enjoy, I might stop by in the future sometime.

Finally I was able to make it in. I would say considering the years of build up, I needed to pause before an immediate review. The anticipation had led to unfair expectations, when in reality it was a great experience. Case in point, I ordered an iced latte with their house-made banana syrup. It was a very solid latte. The banana flavor was relatively subtle, but well done and obviously made with real, fresh banana. I think I would try something else next time, maybe one of their more unique offerings and see if I could possibly find more of a "wow" drink. But I got a very good banana latte, and if that's what you had a taste for, it's a great option. Definitely go for it. I will say they only offer one size for the specialty drinks. I typically order a larger one. I was more impressed with my pastry, their honey pecan tart. That had a nice flaky tart shell. Very light, not the slightest bit dry. The honey provided the perfect natural sweetness, and there were plenty of whole pecans. It was a terrific alternative to your usual syrupy, heavy pecan pastry. Very tasty, and again, not too sweet. I actually did eat it as my breakfast, and i think it works very well as a breakfast item vs a dessert. The space was very bright. There was a whole other room of seating, and it was nicely decorated with a fairly modern aesthetic. Lots of plants. It definitely seemed like a great place to hang out and work or just enjoy your coffee/food there. I took mine to go this time. The staff were laid back but friendly. It was a very nice experience overall. I would very much like to go back now that I know what to expect. But even now, I would certainly recommend it.
