While we looked over the menu, I took a few sips of the soda and finished it. My mom drank her water, and finished it. The server came back and took the order, the drinks were empty and never refilled. Whatever, NBD. However, 10 more minutes passed and I flagged down a different server and asked for a refill. (My server had disappeared). The food came out eventually, my drink was nearly empty again--no refill. The runner asked if I needed anything else after setting the food down and I again asked if I could grab a refill (the server still has not come back to the table). I looked around and he was chatting it up with a bartender leaning against the wall and giggling. Super annoying-- I'm glad the culture here means that the employees are friends and can talk and joke around. I don't need constant engagement, but you can't let drinks stay empty for lengthy periods of time. Half way done with the food, we still had empty drinks. Server never came back, runner never came back. Finished the food and sat for ten mins. Flagged down yet again another server and asked for the check. I hate that I have to agree with some of the Instagram comments I had seen about the kitchen because I really expected better, especially with all the hype surrounding Chef Eric and the new menu. One thing that really irked me was that our order of broccolini came out before everything else and sat there for about 20 minutes before our entrees arrived. Our waiter was kind enough to send out another order of broccolini once our entrees came, which I appreciated. They initially added it to the bill, but removed it once I mentioned it. The lasagna honestly tasted like something I could pick up already made from Whole Foods. The pork chop was cooked well, but it lacked flavor. The artichoke dish... I don't even really know what to say. The presentation wasn't great, and we kept pulling pieces of the shell out of our mouths, which was annoying. We had a couple of bites and just did away with it. The mussels were good, but there weren't very many. Mussels are pretty inexpensive, so it would have been nice to have a bit more, especially since they are small. The sauce had good flavor, and we ordered the baguette to dip into it, but it wasn't really a sauce in the traditional sense because it was pretty thin. I think it could have had more substance, especially considering they encourage you to spend $12 on a baguette to dip into it. One other thing I noticed was that Chef Eric was visiting some of the tables around us but never came over to ours. Maybe those were family and friends, so who knows, but considering there were barely any people in the restaurant, I do think it would have been nice for him to make his way around to all of the tables, especially on opening night. I will definitely be back to The Bungalow because I love the space, the people and the drinks. I'm just not sure if I'll be back for dinner. I'm willing to try some of the less expensive items and see how those are. Our dinner bill was around $250, in addition to the $40 we spent at the bar before sitting down. Unfortunately, for us, the food just wasn't worth the bill. Overall, we had a great experience with the staff and the atmosphere, but the food didn't live up to the expectations I had going in. The instructors are great and the crowd is fun diverse (in terms of age, background, and experience dancing). The djs are also awesome play a lot of good music. The vibe is fun and high energy. It's nice to see a place that is filled with dancers of all skill levels just having fun and learning to dance. The venue itself is beautiful. They have a large open air dance floor that overlooks the marina as well as a smaller dance area inside near the pool tables. The decore is classy and elegant overall. On salsa nights they have drink specials in addition to the regular drink menu. Lastly I once lost my key fob there and someone returned it to their lost and found. I'm forever grateful to whomever returned it and the staff at the front door / lost and found. Overall it's an awesome place to come out and hang out and dance.

The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. When you arrive, you will see the Mexican restaurant El Barrio Cantina. You will want to walk into the alley on the left, then you will see the door with a lantern on your left. Congrats, you have arrived! Knock on the door and tell them your reservation. The bar was popular. Their reservations were all full for the night. Their cocktails were amazing, creative, delicious, and Tokyo-inspired. I love their cool menu design. The bartender was friendly and made some nice recommendations. I had a Meguro River. It's creamy and pretty with floral decorations, served in a mini pot. The Okinawan Gimlet is in cool green. They even have alcoholic gummies and alcoholic shaved ice on menu. Add in glossy glazed wings, charred corn ribs under a crispy cheese veil, and crispy rice bites stacked with spicy tuna, and you've got upscale Asian comfort bar food doing its absolute best work. Rather than offering any alternatives or making us feel welcome, we were simply told to wait by the bar. Fortunately, another guest was kind enough to offer us her seat at the bar. Once seated, we attempted to order food and drinks, but the experience didn't improve. The female bartender seemed completely uninterested in assisting us, almost as though ordering food at the bar was an inconvenience to her. There was little hospitality, no sense of urgency, and certainly no effort to make us feel welcome. The food was delicious, as always, and the cocktails were enjoyable, especially at happy hour prices. Unfortunately, those were the only highlights of our visit. What frustrated me even more was the bill. Nowhere on the menu did I notice any mention of automatic gratuity for a party of four. Yet, when the bartender handed me the check, he casually stated, "Gratuity is included." I was genuinely surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added, especially considering the level of service we had received. I have absolutely no issue tipping generously for good service, but automatically adding 20% without clearly communicating that policy beforehand, particularly for a party of four, was disappointing. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for nine years, I understand firsthand how demanding this business can be. I know that busy shifts happen, wait times can be unpredictable, and employees have difficult days. However, none of that excuses dismissive attitudes or making paying guests feel like an inconvenience. Hospitality is about more than simply taking orders and delivering food. It's about creating an experience that makes people want to return. I genuinely hope the owners and management take the time to address these concerns with their staff. The Bamboo Club has so much potential, and its kitchen and cocktail program clearly deliver. Unfortunately, great food and drinks can only make up for poor service so many times. It's incredibly disappointing to write this review about a place I've supported for years, but loyal customers should not have to continuously overlook poor hospitality just because the food is good. Deleting feedback you don't like, customer concerns, and then further blocking those people (I hadn't written anything else. I only noticed because I clicked on the notification that someone liked my comment and saw I was now blocked) makes you look shady and guilty. I'm not a bot, and I explained a very real, possibly discriminatory experience at your bar. If anyone reading would like to know the experience: It was October 21, 2024. A Monday. I should've written this review then but I didn't have anything nice to say, and didn't want to trash this place when it seemed they were struggling due to what the bartender said. I was going through a really tough time, having just canceled my wedding about a month earlier. It was my first outing after a month+ of deep depression. My friend came to rescue me and take me out. I had been meaning to try this place since moving to Long Beach. It was fairly early in the evening, probably around 8pm or so and it was pretty slow. There was music and two couples dancing. We grabbed a table and I went to the bar to get us drinks. As I stood at the bar, some guys had come up alongside me to wait as well. The bartender looked over me and promptly took their orders. I barely had any emotion left in me at the time so I didn't care, and just waited to be next. However, I waited. And waited. And waited. The bartender seemed to be intentionally ignoring me (now the only person standing at the bar). I watched him busy himself with other drinks for the tables, for the guys, and continue to ignore me. Time ticked by and I started to wonder if I was doing something wrong. My friend kept looking over at me from the table like what is taking so long? Minutes and minutes passed as I stood there awkwardly, being blatantly ignored. After a long stretch of time, the bartender quickly said something in my direction like, "If you want to order you're going to have to go to the other end of the bar." I said, "Oh ok thank you." And walked to the other end of the bar. From this point, I was ignored and talked about (full male bar staff) without being looked at. They rudely discussed in front of me how I was standing there, and how each one of them wasn't going to take my order. It had been over a half hour at this point, and I was the only one who had been standing at the bar. It was a slow Monday night. Because I was a broken hearted loser at the time, I started to tear up. Why was I being treated like this? Am I not someone they want in their bar? Is this place not queer or woman friendly?? Why is every other person getting served, while I am blatantly dismissed? After almost 40 minutes, the bartender on that end told me he wasn't going to take my order, and I'd have to go back to the other side again. I quietly walked back over to the other side, feeling so embarrassed and just wanting to leave. It was ridiculously clear I wasn't welcome here, though I had no idea why. I remained standing there for maybe another 10 minutes. The original guy finally relented and begrudgingly took my drink order. He was standoffish at first, until he realized I wasn't upset about any of it. He started to apologize, saying he was brand new, and told me some of the staffing issues they had had that night. He seemed stressed. He recognized he had served the guys before me, and I had been ignored for way too long. He apologized again, and poured us an extra shot in our drinks to make up for the poor treatment. The drinks honestly were terrible lol, but I can only complain about so much. Plus he gave us double the alcohol, so I guess I was grateful. We left immediately after and went somewhere else. I haven't been back since. I wish I could share screenshots of my TikTok comment with the owner's dismissive reply, so you could see for yourselves whether you think that deserved being blocked. She even liked one of my reels from my page? Very odd. People are going to share the truth about their experiences at your establishment, and for you to deny that and block them is wild. You could've responded in a very different way, but you chose to be defensive and shady. That's on you.
