I panicked, however, when my derailer broke midday Tuesday. Matt's shop was the closest. I Ubered there and Matt, despite being busy, took the time to give a quick assessment. In the end, instead of fixing my Big Box cheapo, I ended up paying $100 for a used Schwinn classic in excellent condition, (including new tires). They even transferred my cage pedals and bell to the new wheels. Very happy! Will be sure to return as needed in future years.

He was so apologetic for the issue because he tuned up the bike. He didn't need to be that apologetic but it shows the level of care they have at Matthews and their guarantee stands. It needed a lot of work and I got it all done at a very fair price. The person doing the work took care to discuss all the options with me so I could get the best value for my money. I really appreciate that. Some bike shops don't go that extra mile. Finally the got all the repairs done quick. It took only a day. However, I did have to schedule it a couple weeks in advanced. And then, another reply to say that because of a few cancellations he could get to me even sooner. After we set up the initial appointment he requested a phone to text us directly upon arrival, and that made the process smooth as butter. On the day of our appointment he texted when he was 30 minutes out to let me know. He texted upon arrival and we met outside to show him the bikes to be fixed. He got to work and texted me when he was done! It would have taken a few weeks to haul all 4 of our bikes into a shop to get fixed, and the fact that he came and got it taken care of that day at a similar price point was AMAZING.
