Just like The Dream and Clyde the glide when they were members of "Phi Slama Jama". This burger was an absolute slam dunk. Completely blew out the rest of the competition in the Marfa! The green chili was like an electrifying alley-oop on top of the burger. Just like cheerleaders their decor was a great addition too, and help create a unique and great ambiance that you won't see anywhere else. For what I would deem a tourist town, I was pleased with this place. Really dope interior and there's a pretty cool bar towards the back of the restaurant with mostly booth seating. The service was A-1! I had the Chicken and Waffles and the Migas, both really good. The Chicken was seasoned to perfection. Pickled onions were a nice touch in the Migas and the salsa was great. Definitely will come back to check out the Green Chile Burger. read more

I love the food here! They have the freshest produce I could find in such a rural area. They are so romantic! Very well lit, with heaters outside and a cozy atmosphere inside. I went here just about once a week when I was in that area for four months. read more

Great atmosphere in a small artistic town like Marfa. Awesome wait staff. Good time. No disappointments. Great cocktails.

Cute and comfy decor inside. Ordered the chicken and waffles and man was that chicken good! Don't forget to start off with their home fries as an app - super worth it! read more

I expected better steak for the price. 3 stars is an exaggeration but I gave an extra one because it was Spring Break & they were very busy. The staff tried to be pleasant but it was clearly a struggle. I think if they weren't so busy the food probably would've been better but I'm still not sure that it would be worth the price . I'd probably give them another chance but wouldn't order the filet. Wine was great though! read more

I would say 3.5 stars. First off hardly anything was open in marfa when we looked. We came for the weekend on a Saturday and drive to 3 other places before deciding on this one. I wasn't really wanting to go here because they didn't have the best reviews. It looks cute from the outside though and there were quite a bit of cars in the parking lot (probably because they were one of the only places open). Anyways we had to park on the side of the street because the lot was full. Outside seating was cute. When we walked in we were not sure if it was a bar or a restaurant, you see the bar and a few booths to the left. Once you walk in there is another dining area to the right. Basic tables and chairs. Interesting decor. We were greeted in a timely manner and brought waters. Menu was small and the first two things I ordered they were sold out so I ordered the wedge salad with chicken. It was not bad, the chicken had a good flavor but the bacon tasted old, cold and greasy. Lettuce and tomatoes on the salad were fresh and the dressing was pretty good. My son ordered the pasta rosso which he loved, it was pappardelle noodles. Italian sausage and vodka sauce. I had water and he had a Mexican coke. Bill was $60 with tip. Service was fine, nothing outstanding. Seemed like a bunch of young kids that worked there. read more

First, we had a cockroach walk across our table while we were eating the blandest queso and chips I've had in a long time. The staff didn't try to comp anything despite the cockroach even though they saw it. We ordered a steak frites and with the steak being medium though it showed up over well done and so salty I couldn't eat it because it made my tongue burn. I would recommend going to the grocery store over eating here. read more

Amazing food in Marfa. Menu is not so big but they make all the food perfect. There are outdoor seating but just be aware that there are TONS of flies. They got into my rose before I can finish it. I have the mushroom pasta really creamy and the mushroom is very flavorful. The burger also is really good. read more

Marfa is hit and miss when it comes to restaurants, sometimes they're open sometimes they're closed ?!? This place is hopping! The service is fantastic, the food is outstanding. everybody is polite and friendly ! Covid restrictions are in play so the place is really clean. There is wonderful outside seating, great drink specials, live music when I was there for brunch. I went 2x though! This is definitely a place to stop in. The reason you see a lot of cars there is because it's that good! Thank You! Guys! Oh also pet friendly. By the way I had the green chili cheeseburger with fries it was outstanding. And then the next day I had a waffle with bacon and it was outstanding and my son had the waffle and fried chicken and it was fantastic so the food is really really good the atmosphere is outstanding definitely worth your time! read more

Place is in the center of Marfa and I'm blown away at how amazing it is and can't believe it's here. This place in Dallas would have a line wrapped around and down the street. We had queso and chips for appetizer and I had the pasta with Chicken and wife had the Filet Mignon. Amazing meal and atmosphere! Highly recommend!!! Clarissa was awesome!! read more

Lunch today. Fairly busy, as most other eateries in Marfa are closed due to COVID. Outdoor dining only. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich with green chili mac-n-cheese. I had the green chili cheeseburger and fries. She said the chicken was well-seasoned and crispy. The bread was very fresh. The mac was good, but not great. The burger was ordered medium but cooked to at least medium-well. Couldn't really taste the green chili. The French fries were fresh-cut and very good. Overall, this place is a bit pricey for the quality and service....or it was today. read more

This place was so delicious. We ordered the veggie burger with fries, a side of macaroni and cheese, a beer and the water spot margarita. We also tried to order the rhubarb pie but we came near closing and they were sold out. We chose a nice spot on the patio and the weather was perfect for outdoor dining Everything we ate was so tasty. The bread on the burger was my favorite. It was incredibly fresh and soft. The veggie burger itself was also very good - made in house and crispy. It did fall apart a bit but this didn't take away from how good it was The Mac and cheese was also awesome - they used cavatappi and it was southern style with crispy bits. I loved the side of fresh jalapeños they served along side it. The margarita was objectively good but as someone who doesn't love cucumber I found it a bit thick with blended cucumber. Overall I definitely recommend this place. We really enjoyed it! read more

Absolutely delicious. Get the burger, any of them, they are all yummy. The chips and guacamole were a great start and the beet salad was excellent too. read more

Great offerings-- needs bam, bam bam!! Peeves me- Noisy chairs-- patrons slide light metal chairs on concrete-- nearly the equal of of fingernails on a chalkboard. Growing-- they're expanding which is good. We had half rotisserie chicken and wedge salad. Both were weak on flavor. We can all do better and they need to. Again good quality, earnest staff but white people seasoning. Find the cumin, the chili and the curry. There are roasted chilies in them thar montañas. I' ll give them another chance but room for improvement here. Maybe the evening and weekend chef is stronger. Sometimes, timing is everything. This is an oasis in Texas as is Marfa. While I'm inclined to frown on art snobs, yuppies, touristas and townies ( some of the clientele) there are enough eclectics and genuine "strangers) to engender a cosmic balance. Whew, I am chagrined when a cosmic imbalance occurs. read more

We were looking for a place with outdoor seating (bc of omicron) and a nice ambience with room for our kids to be kids, so this fit the bill. Overall, we were extremely disappointed. They took a LONG time to come get our order, delivered it late and it was incorrect. Forgot our drinks. Our 7 year old didn't get his hamburger for almost one hour at which point he was so hangry that it was a moot point and we had to leave. They gave us about $13 off of an $84 meal, which was a complete waste of money. Perhaps they were particularly understaffed or busy, but it seems that they should have just comped us our meal. read more

We ordered a charcuterie board with Wagyu beef, salami, and prosciutto. When it was delivered, we didn't see the wagyu beef. We ordered this particular board because of the wagyu beef - as we have never had it and wanted to try it. At $32, it was one of the most expensive things on the menu. We flagged down a waitress and were told they were out of the beef so they substituted pate. Our waitress did not inform us of this when we ordered it. Had we had known, we would have ordered something else. We told our waitress and she basically just said sorry. There was no offer to reduce the price, so we paid for it. Other than the pate, the rest of the items on board was really good. The atmosphere was strange. We had a discussion that it looked like hey couldn't decide if they wanted to be "fine dining" or a bar. The menu (food and cocktail) and prices suggested fine dining...but the interior decor and loud hard rock music blaring suggested bar. We did sit inside and then realized it would have been much quieter and relaxing if we had sat outside. Finally, the restaurant/bar was busy and they have one bathroom that is unisex. Needless to say, there is always a line. I saw other plates being served and it all looked delicious. I would go hear again because it was good food but would definitely sit outside and order something else if they didn't have the wagyu beef included on the board. read more

Stopped in here on our way through Marfa. Really didn't have super high expectations for brunch. We were completely blown away by the space, the service, and especially the food. Sitting under the shade of the covered porch in the afternoon, we enjoyed the absolute best waffles in the history of waffles, accompanied by the best burger-Mac-and-cheese-combo and an iced coffee. I really can't recommend this place enough. It is a delightful little Marfa surprise from start to finish. Best burger I have ever had. Very unexpected. If I'm ever in Marfa again, I'm getting two burgers.

We were recently traveling through west Texas and planned to spend the night in Alpine. However, when searching for a restaurant, we found our choices very limited! Few places were open...most having closed after lunch service. So we headed for Marfa and found The Water Stop. It's located right on the main highway into town so it's very easy to locate. There aren't many choices on the menu but the Champagne pasta was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Absolutely delicious with candied butternut squash, arugula, olives, capers, pappardelle pasta and a decadent champagne cream sauce. Truly magnificent! And they have some very delicious ice cream for dessert as well. Excellent choice! read more

This restaurant seems to a jekyl/hyde story based off the reviews on yelp. Some people have a great experience and others seem to have a really terrible time; this is consistent. We came in for dinner on Thursday night around 7P. The bartender was short with us in regards to how things work but told us to grab a seat anywhere. We grab some menus and sat down. There is no fried chicken sandwich on the menu. Sad. It's pictured everywhere but no. So we waited...waited... waited... Finally after maybe 15 min someone comes to grab our order. Not very nice, very miserable waitress. The other waitress was not any better. So much bad energy, you just want to feel bad for them and leave. So we order some pasta/chicken thing it's okay. The other dish was also chicken it was okay but, we asked for salad not fries. But nobody ever comes back to check on you, you can't find anyone to correct your order -- there is a total vibe of I don't give a dang about these tables and wish everyone would disappear. The table behind us, the waitress literally threw the plats down. He asked for ketchup and she said no and left!! 10 min later, ketchup magically appears. What is going on. Honestly, would just try to go to alpine or marathon for food. I imagine the service would be better, food better, and atleast you wouldn't feel like you are bothering someone. read more

If you're visiting Marfa, you probably want to make a spreadsheet of when each place is open and which days. There are a lot of great places to eat in such a tiny town, but because it's so remote, most places are open limited hours/days. You really want to plan where you're eating each day. It's gotten easier over the years, but I have arrived so late before that my only option was a microwave gas station dinner. So... since the Water Stop has opened, those days are gone. They offer the longest opening hours of any place in Marfa, I believe. Service may be a little slow, but the food is fresh, tasty, and filling. I had the chicken avocado grain bowl and my friend had the spicy fried chicken sandwich. We both joined the clean plate club. Next time I visit I want to try the green chile cheeseburger or come for breakfast. read more
