I wasnt sure how to review this, I have said before i always want to find something good.... I ordered the waffles and chicken. I had a perfect waffle and a burnt one hidden underneath. The good waffle was indeed good, but the burnt one was not so good. The strawberries were a great touch and the idea was great. They give you a tiny cup of syrup and limp bacon. The chicken was over cooked and dry but the flavor was actually reminicent of good if it had not been overcooked. This meal took over 30 minutes to get to me, which ordinarily would not have bothered me, but it was half cold half burnt so that confused me. Slow is ok, but burnt and cold is hard to swallow for sure. Seemed quite pretentious with the grab your own drink, asked to bus your own table, then had the nerve to ask for a tip. I'm sure its hip. But if your are a hip person, ask yourself why you are willing to pay so much for mediocre food and no service. I know this must sound mean to the average hip person who has made this their hangout, but you shouldn't have to give up good food to be hip. read more

FABULOUS! The atmosphere was great, the food was yummy and the staff all wonderful! Super nice. We passed through when most places were closed due to Covid and they gave us tips on where to go/what to do to entertain my thirteen year old. Loved this spot! read more

This cafe's food is great. The shrimp tacos were perfect, fresh squeezed juices were spot on, and the tahini chicken was delicious. Be ready to wait for your food. We appreciate the small town chill vibe, and everything was made fresh, but we waited for over an hour for our food on a non-busy lunch day. read more

Great food and service. There is seating inside and outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely put this restaurant on our A+ list. read more

We were in Marfa this past week visiting family and went to The Water Stop for lunch. All 3 of us were really pleased with our meal. 2 others had the green chili cheeseburger and loved it. Really fresh buns, thick home cut style fries. It's January and I am still working the healthier habits thing so I somewhat reluctantly ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Grain bowl. The green chili cheeseburger sounded so good but I held strong. OMG-remorse was quickly forgotten as my bowl was delicious! I loved it-not to sweet, very tender chicken breast, the pickled veggies had the most mild and perfect tang-not the overwhelming vinegar taste you sometimes get. Sauce/dressing was served on the side, very light and tasty. I highly recommend this bowl whether your working on healthier habits or not. Thank you to The Water Stop for having such a delicious, healthy option. read more

I've used Yelp for 10+ years regularly and The Water Stop earns my first review. (Actually, it's my second review ) Top five meal ever. Staff was to cool for school, but damn, the food more than made up for it. read more

Such a cool looking little spot. Open and felt great sitting out on patio. Food was 50/50. Some of it was prepared amazingly while some of it was dry and bland. I get service times are slow with two people working the tables but we had to ask a few times to get our drinks and finished our food before the second rounds came out. Mac and cheese was awesome. I'll come back but wasn't very thrilled leaving. read more

Only restaurant open every night in Marfa, don't bother looking for other places Monday-Wednesday. Water spot has good food and friendly staff. Despite being the only option most days of the week, highly recommended. read more

The Water Stop was our savior when we found ourselves seeking a late dinner on a Sunday night. Although we ended up there because it was the only place open and serving food, it gets five stars for the food, atmosphere, and staff and we enjoyed it so much we tried to go back a few nights later but were saddened to find it closed for inventory. For our late night Sunday dinner I had the Avocado Bean Burger with fries. I have been known to be distracted by avocado and to order on that basis alone only to be disappointed many times but not with this time. The avocado bean burger was so good and had we made it back I would have ordered it again. My husband ordered and enjoyed the steak frites which he also greatly enjoyed. The restaurant has plentiful outdoor seating and offers lots of intimate seating inside. The atmosphere is relaxed while also being eclectic and romantic. The staff was warm and friendly. I highly recommend them. read more

We stopped here for lunch. First time here. You order at the counter. Your food gets delivered. Good Food. Def. on the pricey side. For the price, you'd expect to not have to buss your own tables. Yikes. The food was good, hot and def. good. The tea they have there is absolutley delicious. Like out of this world, good! If you have the money to spend a few extra on lunch, try them out! Good little spot. read more

Loved this place for dinner and drinks in marfa. We sat outside next to the fire which was the perfect ambiance. We split the rigatoni and a burger and both were awesome. The Apple pie dessert was also fantastic. Highly recommend! read more

The burger and fries were great, but the service was slow. The real problem, however, is that after running our cards, the server said the WiFi was slow, so he couldn't print the signature slip. I therefore left a CASH TIP (more than 20%), then the next day, saw that they charged my card the same amount I'd left in cash! Terribly unethical. read more

We got the Fresh Burrata, the Green Chile Burger, the Champagne Pasta, and the Old Fashioned. The food was incredible. This is definitely not a place to eat if you're in a rush. So, give yourself a little bit of time to enjoy the unique atmosphere and sip a cocktail. read more

This was our first time visiting Marfa and with limited selection of food places we finally decided to check out this place that we happened to pass by. We are so glad we did! My family and I all got different plates to try and we loved all our food. Service was very friendly, atmosphere was very chill and comfortable, awesome playlist of music as well. There is option for indoor or outdoor seating. Once you get there you order at the counter and seat yourself at any available table. The plate I got was the fried chicken sandwich with fries. It was so delicious and very filling. The sandwich included 2 chicken fillets with coleslaw, pickled red onions and pickles. The fries were natural cut and very tasty. I definitely recommend their cold brew iced coffee with coconut milk, it's very refreshing. My father got half a rotisserie chicken and he loved it. If we are ever near Marfa we would definitely be coming back to visit this place! read more

The first day we stoped by my dad got the migas tacos and to him they did not have enough meat. I got the grilled chicken avocado Caesar salad and it was divine!! I loved the quinoa on it and the dressing was pleasant as well. The salad itself was quite large; I did not finish it. The next day we went I got the Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries and my dad got the chicken and waffles. The sandwich was delicious! It had pickled red onion, vegannaise (Vegan mayonnaise) and house pickles all on a potato bun. All of it blended together splendidly and the fries were super fresh and delicious. After the meal my father told me that the waffles from the chicken and waffles were the best he had ever had. The waffles were not over done and super hard shelled like most waffles are. They were soft and cakey on the inside but still had some crispyness on the outside. The third day we came we both got the chicken and waffles with extra whip cream! Once again, they were delectable. I also got Green Lemonade (Celery juice, Cucumber juice, Lime juice, and honey) with all of these meals; it was a refreshing combat to the hot sun. My one note though would be to try and arrive early since tables will fill up on certain days (like Sundays because it is one of the few restaurants open) and there are only a few tables there to maintain the 6ft rule or the 50-75% capacity rule. I am also pretty sure they changed their menu due to the pandemic so I am not sure how long these items will be available. read more

We had just gotten into town and our dining options were extremely limited. We happen to see the open sign about five minutes before they were scheduled to close, but they still made us a wonderful burger and chicken avocado toast! The outdoor seating was simple but extremely pleasant. Highly recommended! read more

Check the "Daily Specials" board to the left, behind the counter - it's never steered me wrong. Last time I lucked out with chicken & waffles and, wow... just wow... Chicken breast cooked and seasoned perfectly to work with the waffles, fresh whipped cream & berries, damn good! Excellent cold brew coffee to accompany - these folks know what they're doing. I'm not sure I'll ever find myself in Marfa again, but if I did, I would have to revisit the Water Stop. We ate outside for lunch on a Sunday (plenty of outdoor seating) and the highlight was the grilled avocado grain bowl, which I will still be dreaming about, how can something so simple be so delicious (and light but still filling)? Because of Covid + Sunday night in January, there was almost nothing open for dinner so it was an easy decision between another medium-rated restaurant and a second trip to the Water Stop. The menu changed for dinner and the highlight was a truly outstanding pasta dish. It was too cold to eat outside but lovely to sip hot toddies by their outdoor fire while we waited for our takeout. Do not miss this excellent spot in Marfa! read more

Horrible customer service. The waitress was rude and treated us like an inconvenience. NOT worth the trip just to be treated poorly. We also came across several people in Marfa who said the same thing about the same waitress... these people need to learn how to run a business... read more

Extremely rude waitress and horrible customer service. Beware!! Incredibly rude to tourists. We stopped by at 5pm unsure of the time and walked up. A blonde waitress with short hair shooed us away in a rude manner telling us that they only opened at 6. We respectfully said "okay" and left. Came back at 6 to an almost full restaurant with people already eating. We mentioned to the waitress that turned us away that it was opened before she had said. We kindly sat down where they seated us and she came up to us and said she was the only server and refused to serve us and asked us not to talk to the owner. My boyfriend was in the bathroom at this point and I went in to grab him while the other two in the party left. I was standing near the bar and the lady with the brunette hair threatened to call the cops on my for standing there even though I told them I'm waiting for my boyfriend to come out. They threatened me multiple times and were rude to my Hispanic boyfriend and me (white) on the way out. Everywhere else we have been in Marfa, we were welcomed with warm smiles and kind words. Do not come here if you are a tourist read more

This place was freaking awesome. We had a friend chicken sandwich and a burger. They were both superb. The flavors had great depth and were super complimentary. WORST SERVICE E-V-E-R! The waiter never refilled our drinks. Came over well after we were finished to see if we needed anything. And to make it even worse...the waiter padded his tip AFTER we left! Don't go here if you don't want to get robbed of your money! read more

Honestly the best food we had while visiting Marfa from Austin. A lot of places in Marfa have very choppy hours and The Water Stop has a consistent and reliable daytime schedule which is amazing. In these crazy times it's so good to see a restaurant exceeding in quality and customer service. I got the spicy chicken sandwich. I was a little skeptical when I saw that the chicken was covered in what smelled and looked like buffalo wing sauce. Wow was I wrong. The pairing of ,what I assume to be, house made pickled red onion and pickles with the hot sausage is quite simply perfect. read more

I think the only thing that gave this place any stars at all was the food, and even that was not worth the price or the wait. The waiter took forever to come introduce himself, and did it in one of the most awkward ways possible. He walks over and places an empty plastic cup in front of me. My girlfriend definitely didn't hear him, and I barely heard him say "I'll get two more." Then disappeared for a while again and finally came back to take our orders. Didn't check on us until the food arrived, then again didn't check on us. Waited over an hour for our food to arrive. Finally throughout the meal one guy with a strong accent, who I assumed was the owner, checked on everyone and had to get the check for people who had also been waiting for a waiter to check on them. Once we finally got our check was when we realized how horribly overpriced their food was. Overall we ended up eating for about 20 minutes out of the 2 hours we were there. I really don't recommend this place, I try so hard to root for small restaurants like these, but I just couldn't do it. read more

My wife and I stopped in about a month ago and were pleasantly surprised. Yeah, it looks like a small-town log-covered porch with a pot bellied stove just inside. But we WANTED to eat outside as the weather was gorgeous. As we walked in, we were told sit wherever you want. How perfect! We sat just out of the wind in the shade. The server was there immediately with water for each of us and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. When serving our beverages, she took our order for a green chile burger. The bun was a soft bread type, slightly sweet, great taste and texture. As we asked to share it, we got an extra plate. I cut it in half then YUM! Just the right amount of green chile to add super flavor. The accompanying fries were like steak-fries - thick, crispy on the outside and soft inside, just the way I like them. And they were about the length of the potato from which they were cut. Well worth the price so we tipped heavily; after all she earned it! Don't miss it, when you're out that way. read more

Exceedingly average. Servers took forever to get to our table and only checked on us once the entire time. I ordered the classic old fashioned and got about half a glass worth which just makes me feel half loved/served, especially when it's $13. The steak frites are also a bit on the gamey side. On the bright side, the music that's played in the background is nice and it definitely captures the fun/quirky feel that seems to envelop the whole town. Overall, I'd say go for the Dairy Queen or gas station subway. read more

Cute venue, of course, but that doesn't make the food better. Had a spicy chicken sandwich that was meh. Kale salad was smothered in mayonnaise and so heavy it wasn't edible. Service was snarky and kind of rude. Can't recommend or won't return. read more
