There are multiple stairs leading to the speakeasy downstairs. There are accessible bathrooms down there but even just having opened - the bathrooms were not that clean. They smelled and had garbage on the floor. All staff were attentive and helpful and provided drink recommendations. The drinks err on the side of Tiki drinks mostly but there's some interesting whiskey and bourbon drinks too. We had some small apps to eat and all were good! And the portions were plentiful. We had fries and the hushpuppies. Loved the sauces that came with each. The space was not crowded for a while but started to pick up around 7:30 or so. I feel like a reservation may not be needed here. The upstairs restaurant was also so empty when we left! Not sure why as it looked nice. The noise level at 143 was not bad either even when crowds started to show up. Overall a nice option for drinks and apps in JC!

First, Social 143 is located on the lower level of Bembe Restaurant where Social 143 operates as a separate venue, yet the menus available online do not accurately reflect what is actually offered at Social 143. After enjoying a cocktail, we decided to head upstairs because the menu looked more appealing. Unfortunately, that was another mistake. Once again, the online menu did not match the actual offerings. After waiting approximately 15 minutes for service, things went downhill quickly. Both the food and service were a complete mess. Overall, what could have been a great dining experience turned into a frustrating disappointment. While this isn't marketed as fine dining, Kyle delivered a level of service that absolutely was. His attention to detail, professionalism, and cleanliness were second to none. After every course, he didn't simply clear plates... he thoroughly cleaned and reset the table with a level of care and precision that I honestly haven't seen from a server in a very long time, anywhere. Every detail was handled seamlessly, making each course feel like a fresh dining experience. Kyle elevated an already fantastic meal into a truly memorable one. Restaurants can teach the mechanics of service, but genuine hospitality and pride in your work are much harder to find. Kyle clearly has both. So, when I found out about this place at the 2025 All About Downtown Street Fair, I made a point to get here the next time I was in town. Founded by renowned chef Jamie Knott and business partner Bob Palmer in 2016, they were celebrating their 10-year anniversary as of this review. Would I return to this cellar address for some exotic escapism!? PURCHASE(S) Brain Freeze Frozen Daiquiri Cocktail ($5.00 HH): Made with Probitas rum, lime, and spirulina, this was an interesting intro to this place, but I rolled with it. I loved the color while the drink itself was fine. Korean Style Chicken Wings w/Garlic-Soy 6pc ($10.00 HH): Honestly, these were da bomb!
