I have been trying to have positive experiences at this specific location for months, and unfortunately the majority of the time I am helped by a woman named Jessica. Every time I ask what seems like too many questions for her liking, she gets really rude and acting like she has something more important to do like customers don't matter or like she doesn't want to help people. I've been feeling this odd energy on occasions that I can't quite remember what I was even in there for, however the last time I went, I had a few questions about this product I was picking up for my elderly mother called HemCalm for hemorrhoids. I had done light research on the product before going in and when I mentioned I got my info from online she got really snappy and said "no I think I know more about this product than the internet since I use it so often" like I guess I would be upset if I had hemorrhoids too, but if you can't separate personal issues from work then I suggest working somewhere that you won't have to interact with people. Unprofessional. If I were this company I would be getting rid of employees like this that are driving away customers. Toss up on this one folks...... Okay, so... The store is very tidy, put together well, isles are spaced apart enough so that your not doing any unwanted physical contact. Great selection great prices...or are they great prices?!??? Now, I am what you would call a cheap bastard! I don't want to spend my meager earnings on supplements, I'd rather save the $$$ for beer,.. But seriously, if you go online to their web site they have "On-line Only Specials", for instance, Animal-Pak 44 count vitamins online are $24.99 in store, $44....(only an example, not sure on the exact numbers here). I always, ALWAYS have to ask someone in there, why the heck would I come into the store when I can pay $20 less on-line???? Well, the kicker here is they won't offer anything up to you, but they have that computer right behind them for a reason! Every time, I asked them to match that price, so they jump on to the computer, look at the on-line price and match it.. and EVERYTIME I get the "We are not suppose to do this" spill.. blah blah blah, if you want my business you will, i'd gladly wait 3-4 days for $20 cheaper! I go with tried and true, so I usually only go in for the few name brands, have yet to try the store labeled brands, which always seem to be on sale and at a good rate. Also, what is UP with the parking here!??? I see noone in the surrounding shops yet there is NEVER any parking up close. I come here for all my protein needs and supplements. I had been told about the protein cookies from the Elk Grove store and have been in love with them ever since. Recently, having a lot of appointments in Modesto, this is my go to store to refill my snack needs. I was here yesterday, and got some great help in finding delicious protein bars. OhYeah! is my new favorite. I have yet to try the drinks I picked up, but look forward to them nonetheless. This is also a great place to pick up Isopure drinks. I don't always find them at our local health store (the flavor I want that is), so this is a good alternative. I stopped in today. The same gentleman that helped me out yesterday was there today, but busy. Grabbed what I wanted and stood in line. Now, this is the reason for the -1 star. The older woman, with lined lips, saw me standing in line, but overlooked me to take the guy that got directly being the man finishing with his transaction. When my mother spoke up, she just replied coolly with; "That register is broken, I will help you next." The joker didn't need to be that way, and seeing as she had seen me waiting, customer service like that just reflects poorly on a place that I know is not often like that. With that, I put my items back where I got them, yes I could of easily left them wherever, but I put them back and left. I didn't need to waste my time waiting and my money on service like that. I'll go back in and continue to make my purchases, but I just didn't appreciate the service today, when I usually get very good customer service. read more

Good place to pop into in my hood for my vitamin needs. Was a little annoyed that some of their merchandising didn't make sense but overall it was ok. I guess at the time they were having a health fair so that included having some hotties from In Shape Gyms roaming around the store trying to get recruits. Unfortunately these hard bodies and they're good looks made me feel like the Pillsbury Doughboy in the worst way. I know people have to start somewhere but geez, PRESSURE! Great store with an extensive selection of vitamins and nutritional supplements. Helpful, friendly staff who usually know where specific items are located. They carry a lot of major brands and some obscure ones as well. Vitamin shoppe is the only place I can find an enteric-coated, mercury free fish oil-it doesn't give you the disgusting fish burps that the others can. They carry all the EAS products for the Body for Life program as well. Plus they have a rewards program to earn store credit. Another great thing is you can bring anything back if you don't like it. Seriously, you can practically use the whole container and they will let you exchange it for something else. I love that policy. read more

Not overly friendly employees.. The one girl looked up from her computer screen long enough to say hello to me, and she did ring me up promptly when I came to the register, as she was already there. But as I said, just business, not friendly, not did offer to help me find anything. Luckily, I wandered around till I found it, which was a first for me. Usually I have at least ONE person offer to help me. The turnover rate has been so high here since last year; I never see the same face twice! One huge and (sorry) obese guy named Blake terrified me. When he turned around at the register, he looked like a zombie! Messy hair, unkempt scraggly beard, bloodshot eyes and dark circles under his eyes. Isn't this a store specializing in health? Great selection. I found that prices are slightly higher than those on the internet, but that is to be expected. The supplement I purchased was $5 more than internet price (hence only 4 star rating), but at least I was able to get it right away and did not have to wait for delivery. Also, I was able to talk to someone face-to-face about the product. Josh, the manager was knowledgeable. He recommended a PGX appetite suppressant supplement which worked amazingly well. I shop at the Vitamin Shoppe most and at GNC at various times when I need something quick. I have found that the service and knowledge of the staff is tremendous. They have been taught well. I've interacted with the management from time to time too, and have found them to be very professional and positive. I always feel welcome when I shop there. They are not the cheapest around, but they really back it up with product knowledge and that really counts in my evaluation and shopping experience. They also do regular "health fairs" where they invite product manufacturers, local wellness professionals and even massage therapists to give free chair massages. I think that they know what I like! :-) More importantly, I can ask questions of manufacturers reps and get a good idea of a product and what it will deliver before I purchase it. Many times I've looked at a product that I rec'd information on, right in the store, tried it later and loved it. I appreciate that so much. Thanks Vitamin Shoppe.
