Little India I've been staying here every year for well over 10 years, and I won't be coming back. Obviously under new management, and it's turning into a ghetto. First, I tried to change my reservation, and no one answered the phone number on their website. I tried calling for days. Finally resorted to email, and obvious the front desk has a limited grasp on English. Never did get the promised email confirming my change. Front desk/manager was rude when I checked in and asked why it was so hard to change a reservation. Blamed it all on me, until I showed them that the phone number they actually use is different than the one posted on their website. The list: Air Conditioner was WAY too loud to allow sleep, so choice was either noise or sweat. NOISE !!!! the highway, the people in the room upstairs, walls and floors/ceilings are thin, the manager outside the office, late at night, having loud and disrespectful conversations with family and friends. When I asked them to keep it down and move the noise inside, they didn't respond at all. No freezer in the tiny fridge. Seriously, absolutely no place in room to hang clothes, no hangars, no closet rod, no closet at all, despite there being plenty of room for one. Loose plumbing fixtures ready to break and fall off. Tiny TV. No towel rack near the shower. No place to hang a towel at all, pretty basic item, not even a hook on the door or wall. Sink /shower hot water dangerously hot, could easily burn a child. Garbage all around the place, parking lot, walkways, and would see cleaning staff ignore it all. No effort to keep the area clean and garbage free at all. Yes, starting to look like a 3rd-world dump. And it's also getting pricey for what you get. No longer a good value for an adequate place to stay. read more

This is definitely a "know before you go" kind of spot. So I'm going to cut to the chase and tell you what to know so that you can decide if you want to go. Rooms I mean, when you look at the price (I paid $60/night) you kinda know what you're getting into. They're not new. They're going to have quirks. My room had a light switch that didn't do anything, and for some reason, there was a large piece of painted plywood propped up against the sink. It wasn't fastened, it served no purpose, it was just... there. Kitchenette Note that not all rooms have this. My room was a fridge/microwave situation and that was fine. But I think you'd have to specifically request a kitchenette. Cleanliness It was fine. The two chairs at the table definitely had some stains that could have been cleaned up and looked very, um... bodily. So that was a bummer. But the linens were clean and the bathroom was clean and you know, it was all fine. Bathroom The shower did that thing where the water pressure made the plumbing whine a little. You can jiggle and adjust the flow and the noise stops, but the pressure isn't awesome. But passable. It's okay. Amenities The ice machine was broken. I can't think of any other amenities. I guess ya, there's a coffee maker but we didn't use it. And there's a bike repair stand with a hose. Oh, and they do provide you with non-bathroom towels if you want to wipe down your bike/car/etc. Location Great! Right in town, walk less than a block to drinks, diner, etc. And behind the far building there's a bridge that takes you over to the Mill Creek walkway which was way rad. Terrific location. Pets I brought the pup, and that cost an extra $15 per night. That's not unheard of but more and more spots are lowering fees, charging only on night, or waiving altogether. However, if you take the bridge over the river and walk upriver on the MIll Creek walkway, you're about a block or two from the off leash dog park, and that's a pretty rad benefit when you're traveling with your pup. Reservations I *think* you can book through a third party vendor but if you go to their website, there's not an option to book online. I called, gave them my name and dates, and they were like, cool, you're set. No credit card, no nothing. It felt very yesteryear but having no confirmation number or email in hand was a little disconcerting so I called the day of my check-in just to confirm. Check-In If you're going to arrive late, call ahead. I got away late and called. They had me pay over the phone. And then they taped the key to the front door. Front Desk Super friendly folks, but this not on a computerized hotel booking/management system. I asked about a receipt and they went to a drawer with a stack of receipts in a rubber band. There's no "let me look you up in the system." Would I recommend staying here? Sure. But don't expect fancy--there are plenty of nice, new hotels in town for that. This is an old school place, doing its best. The location is the real draw, and the rates are great, plus you can bring your dog. A bit more maintenance (ice machine, random plywood, lights, literally just pick up and throw away the two broken discarded A/C units that were sitting in the parking lot) would go a long way, but the whole thing was pretty smooth and worth the price. I booked my hotel stay through booking.com for Wednesday august 25th to Sunday August 29th. During the stay, I had no issues. They had everything I needed for my solo stay in Moab. They gave me extra towels when I requested them, the shower was hot and the bed was comfy. My flight was departing the Moab airport at 1120 on Sunday. At 830am, I packed all my things, took all of my property with me, and then had breakfast at a local restaurant. I put all of my towels in a pile under the sink and the trash that fit inside the trash can. Anyways, I arrived at the airport around 10-1030am. My flight then departed at 1120am. I was charged $122 on Monday and I called the hotel to inquire about the charge. The lady on the phone, who stated that she was the manager of the hotel, stated that I was booked through booking.com until Monday, august 30th and that I would need to contact them myself. I told the manager that I would send her my booking showing that it was only until Sunday, and she said she doesn't need it and that she will call them herself. So, today September 2nd , I hadn't heard anything from her. I called the hotel again and she answered. I told her the summary of our conversation and she stated that she had a note that the reason I was charged the additional $122 was due to the cleaning lady stating that I had all my things still in the room after noon. Therefore, they were unable to clean and rent the room out. I explained to her my morning timeline from above, and that I had put the key in the key box before I headed to the restaurant. I did not see anyone at the front desk which is why I placed it in the key box. I told her my flight time and that I was traveling alone, so there is no way that I could've been there past 12pm. At the beginning of the call she had offered I could speak to the owner. I had asked if I could send to her all my screenshots of times that I was at different locations and proof that my flight left at 1120am. I asked if i could speak with the owner since she was unable to help, and she said he would say the same thing so there's no point. She stated that the only thing that I can do is dispute it with my bank, and once she receives it, she wouldn't disagree. My only bank is cashapp which will be a hassle, but that's my own issue. The most frustrating thing about this situation was the fact that she refused to accept any proof that I offered and was so unwilling to offer help. read more

They are in the middle of updating this lovely little hotel and it was a wonderful stay. Kiosk check-in, with a real person on the other side, was easy and personalized to us, as one of use can't do the stairs to stay upstairs. Our rooms were clean and cute with hints at its history in its furnishings. The beds were VERY comfortable large king beds on the bottom floor. There is a little green space to walk the dog at the end of the street. We plan on going strait there every time we go through Moab. Thank you, to you in the kiosk and the manager, for making sure all of us had a comfortable bed. We will be back very soon. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL!!!! We booked reservation for 5-15-23-5-18-23 thru Booking. I cancelled the reservation in the required amount of time to get a full refund which I did get from the Booking website. Then on my recent charge bill I see a charge for $711.18. The hotel had me for the dates of 5-15-5-19-23. Since I was a No Show on the hotel's booking I have to pay the $711.18. Booking tried to get a refund but the hotel was UNCOOPERATIVE. The hotel charge suddenly appeared on my charge card after all of this started. WE NEVER STAYED THERE because of a family emergency in the first place!!! Not that we used the kitchenette, but we appreciated having the coffee maker (for hot water), refrigerator, microwave, and if we'd planned ahead we'd have used the stove! The room smelled very floral when we arrived. We left the windows open and went to watch the sunset at Dead Horse Point and stayed to watch the stars. Very clean! Remodeled older motel. Im not usually a fan of motels but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are remodeled and spacious. The flooring is not carpet, which I love. They are luxury vinyl plank, which I feel is much cleaner than carpeting. The room has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Housekeeping needs to be requested, but they do come in daily to change towels and empty trash automatically. read more

This is a great property...my new go to place to stay in Moab. It is VERY Reasonably priced, especially for the high season in Moab (I stayed in August 2018). It is locally owned; one of the owners checked us in and let us know of some good places to eat and some in town walking paths. The motel even had a picnic area. Was the worst place we ever stayed at. Had to use a kiosk computer to check in which couldn't understand hardly what we were saying. Never told us that they only clean the rooms every 3 days which we were there for 8 days and only had her bed made once, never clean the room. Clean room; good parking. Had a little kitchenette we didn't use, with a big fridge that got our water bottles cold. Small TV, and really slow WiFi, too slow to stream Amazon Prime video even on lowest resolution, so we used our cellphone's hotspot and could stream at highest resolution. Stayed here two nights. Great location. Right in the center of town. Front desk lady was not that friendly. Made me feel as if I was disrupting her day. Went to get is and was told ice machine just broke but the water stains showed it has been broke for a while. Never had our room made up. This review is for The Virginian inn which I hope is the same as The Virginian Motel. I stayed the night of October 5, 2022. The hostess was very friendly and even let me check in a little early. She is a hottie. We got room 220 which was nice, floor clean, beds in good shape. There were a couple complaints. The round table was wobbly and unable to put anything on it. The sink had a chip in it as well as all around the drain. The drain stopper was missing. The bathroom was fine. The fridge needed to be defrosted. We had the ice machine right outside our door. It was not too bad since nobody got ice late at night. The biggest issue is the room they wash the linens was adjacent to our room and ran in the middle of the night. I was awaken three times. I would recommend the place but not near room 220. read more

Everything is wore out and out dated. All electric recepical are wore out and won't hold any plugs. The bathroom is in the kitchen. Don't waste your money go else were. The people beside us has a dog that been barking for hours. One of the worst hotel rooms I've been in. read more

Our room was pleasant, very clean & serviceable amenities as promised. Mattresses & bedding: sufficient, clean & supportive. A pretty river walk was right behind our row of rooms. I stayed here over the president weekend. That was great and great deal for a holiday weekend. I was ready for a low end type rood and I was surprised. The room are very clean and the shower was the cleanest I have seen. I have stayed in high end hotels and the rooms the Virginian were super clean. No dark stuff around the tub area. They even have a kitchen in the rooms. Great place to keep your beer cold and a place to keep you snack foods cold. I would stay here again over some higher end hotels in Moab. read more

Dog-friendly and lower rate than most were the reasons we chose The Virginian. At check-in was an unfriendly woman who flipped the old fashion registration card at me and seemed distracted but efficient enough. It's an old style motor inn with parking near the outside doors. Missing was the security of a chain bolt on the inside but Moab felt safe. Floors were warped, furnishings were old but the room appeared clean, or at least as clean as old pet-friendly carpeting can be. With the bathroom sink next to the kitchenette sink, there is no counter space for toiletries. Great water pressure in the shower. We liked the location with a creek and boardwalk at the back. It's a short walk along the creek 1 block to the dog park. Price was higher than its value due to high season in Moab (a rainy mid-May night) but I guess that's expected. Great place to stay, and I'd totally return again. Rooms are clean and comfortable, quiet. It's centrally located, and very close to lots of dining choices, plus the City Market is a short walk. The kitchenette was a nice surprise, although you should know that there is nothing in there to cook with. We had our camping cookware box, so no big deal for us, but you'll need to plan ahead if you want to prepare meals in the room (seriously, not even a fork. No pots, no plates, nada. But there are burners, an oven, a kitchen sink, coffee pot, and full sized fridge with freezer...and a microwave). read more

This motel is located in the heart of Moab at the end of a quiet street, is walkable to many restaurants and stores. It is under new ownership and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, very quiet and quite large. It has an air conditioning unit that allows the fan to run all night which helps me sleep better. They are dog friendly and has a nice walking trail right behind the motel for walking the pooch. The motel has a bike/equipment washing station outside for a quick clean up. This is a good choice for lodging in Moab. read more

Had a reservation for one night driving thru from CO to AZ. We arrived to discover that Moab had just experienced a 100 yr flood! While the hotel itself wasn't affected the surrounding area was. The room wasn't in top condition since they'd been shoveling dirt & mud from the surrounding area there was a fine layer of silt on everything. The a/c wasn't working. The hotel clerk was quite traumatized by all that had gone on. Given the circumstances we chose not to stay and we weren't owed a refund since had to cancel 48 hrs prior. I took the manager's card intending to call regarding possible refund at a later time to give them all some time to destress. Well, Tatiana the front desk clerk called me that same day to say we would be refunded in full. I really appreciated that & just felt so terrible for them and the poor businesses that were flooded. Apparently a lot of the volunteers that came into Moab to help with the clean up were staying at the Virginian. read more

The staff is super duper friendly and gave great suggestions for things to do while we were in Moab. Rooms are perfect and come with kitchenettes. In summertime, most of the hotels and motels are busy, and they overcharge for their rooms. The Virginian Motel is a slightly of of date motel, clean, comfortable and reasonably priced facility. The woman who worked at the evening desk was very pleasant, even though I interrupted her great smelling dinner, and she offered to show me the room prior to committing. At $72 per night for two people in two beds(non smoking), it was an instant deal. Even the Econo Lodge and Sleep Inn wanted over $120. Stay for a week over Memorial Day and really liked it. Their rates weren't jacked up like many other motels in the area. Outstanding location. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. $10 a night for a dog in the room. There's a path with a creek to walk the dog and the dog park is a block away. Shiloh, an employee, was awesome. What genuine, personable and helpful staff! A clean, cozy, and pet friendly room was great to relax in after adventures in Moab! If you have a dog, a nice off leash dog park is just a short walk away, as is a nice walkway that is near a creek if you have a water loving dog to tire out before turning in for the night! Carey and Martin manage this place and totally made us feel like we were home. We spent two nights here (while my significant other was fighting a cold) and assigned a quiet, ground floor corner unit which was ideal to help recuperate from the nasty cold. Thank you for being so accommodating and taking care of our every needs. I am writing my first review on Yelp because I was so impressed by Carey and Martin's hospitality. The Virginian Motel was also very clean and within walking distance of all shops, restaurants and grocery stores. I will be back again! read more
