I just love coming to this gem in Downtown Davidson. Being a Davidson resident, I think it is important to support our small local businesses. This place is so unique and special. I shop here regularly and truly enjoy the experience. The Village Store is part of our quaint Main Street area not to be overlooked. You can shop for housewares, local foods, boutique clothing and jewelry, toys, Lake Life and Lake Norman local gifty items, like tshirts, pillows, tea towels, etc. There is so much to look at here, and trust me, you will find something you love! The staff there is very friendly and the store is so well stocked. The prices are very fair compared to other boutique style stores, but I'd say the Village Store has the biggest selection of home and gift items in the Lake area. They have begun putting out their fall decor, and they really have some beautiful displays during the Christmas season. I really enjoy shopping here. read more

The Village Store is just the cutest store in downtown Davidson. They have so many different items - jewelry, gifts, holiday decor, travel items, clothing, and the list goes on. They have a lot of unique items here, too, encouraging lengthy browsing. I was able to find a perfect gift for Christmas, and continue to visit this store every time I'm in Davidson. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, too. I only wish they were open later on Saturday night (like 7 or 8pm) so we could visit after dinner, rather than having to go before. Norman Rockwell paintings don't have anything on this charming Davidson Main St. anchor store! Each time you visit, there are new and interesting gifts for anyone on your list or to treat yourself. The variety is what I love most - you can find locally hand poured candles, creative jewelry, fun clothing items (I just scored a $34 vegan "Sherpa" pullover for fall that I've worn every weekend since purchasing), home decor, cards, on-trend toys & baby gifts and SO much more. The cozy merchandising is worth a stroll through just to admire the old plank flooring and display fixtures. They also offer complimentary gift wrap which is so old school and I always consider it top notch customer service! Makes my life so much easier - it's one reason I always choose this shop for gift giving needs. Don't miss their window displays during the holidays! This store has a little something for everyone. It's larger than it appears! There's a kids section, jewelry section, socks, Knick knacks, house decorations, lake house decorations, and in the very back, a small sale section. The prices are about average. This store is chocked full of surprises at reasonable prices! To take it a step further, the customer service is far above the norm. I accidentally left my credit card at the store yesterday, during some last minute Christmas shopping. Since they didn't really know me, they somehow tracked me down to my business. Not only did they notify me of having left my card with them, they delivered it to my house in the pouring rain along with a sweet treat and an apology note. This is what I consider excellent customer service and is normally only delivered by small business owners, and sometimes Zappos! read more

This is my one-stop-shop when searching for a unique gift for ANYONE in my life: husband, niece/nephew, sibling, grandparent, coworker...you name it, they've got it...sort of. I absolutely love the convenient location in downtown Davidson. My only gripe is the sometimes hard to find parking on a busy day, but that's not their fault. This store has everything you can imagine, from kitschy gifts like bacon socks or sophisticated gifts like a knitted scarf or woodwick candle. You can find house flags, throw pillows, kids gifts, and LOCAL items (like Lake Norman canvas prints!) They carry an excellent selection of special occasion cards. I've never left this store unhappy because there's always something for someone. They are constantly changing their stock and keeping up with trends. They are not overpriced, but rather reasonable, especially for a boutique style shop. My favorite area to rummage is their clearance room at the back of the store. We stopped in to browse around after lunch on Mother's Day. This is a cute little store with all kind of gift worthy items. Some are more pricey than others, but there is something for all budgets. They even put out a pitcher of OJ and a bottle of champagne along with donut holes and muffins for guests to enjoy since it was Mother's Day. I adore this store, not only for it's authentic small-town vibe, but the variety of gifts, life's little luxury items and seasonal decor. I love that I can find a $1 lime green toothpaste tube squeezer next to a $70 Vera Bradley. If you (like me and some of my girls) love stationary and randomly hysterical cards, take a gander at their notes for some LOL doozies. This store offers EVERYTHING! You can find something for any occasion (birthday, baby, mothers day, easter, holiday, etc) and they have a wide range of items priced very low to more high....Wonderful selection of merchandise from more "cutesy" gifts to more sophistocated items. A great destination for out of towners and is located in a charming location in downtown Davidson, N.CThe staff is super nice and very helpful and gift wrap your purchases, so you don't have to head to the nearest drugstore and spend ANOTHER $6.00 paper/gift bag. I used to really like this store. They have neat little trinkets and just all kinds of fun items you won't find everywhere. I go and browse fairly regularly and try to buy something every visit, because I like to support local businesses. However, after my last visit, I don't plan on going back. An employee there was so rude that I put back my items and left. If you want to shop somewhere where the cashiers have that snobby, mean girl attitude, go here. If not, go elsewhere. read more

This is my favorite place to shop for any gift - babies, weddings, birthdays, young/old, even for men. Very unique and well priced assortment. Great stuff, poor customer connection. We were browsing for more than 20 minutes. The two clerks (or were they the owners?) were so engaged in personal conversation as we passed them numerous times, neither ever looked up to even notice we were there, much less asked us for assistance, or welcomed us to the store, or anything remotely resembling customer care.
