For Ashley since I know you're waiting for this review - per our conversation and…read more
I don't leave many reviews, but the Plato's Closet in Huntersville gave me an experience so unprofessional, careless, and blatantly disrespectful that I feel obligated to save someone else's time. Whoever owns this location, do you read the reviews??? This place is going down hill QUICKLY.
I dropped my items off at 2:29 PM. When I returned around 4:20 PM, they were still sitting exactly where I left them untouched. When I walked in and asked for an update, the entire staff just stared at me until I finally said, "I have a question about my items." Only then did one of them decide to come over and actually speak to me. They then suddenly pretend they were going to "start going through them."
About 30 minutes later, I get a text that my buy is ready... which was wild considering I watched them do nothing for almost two hours.
When I checked in, the same Hispanic associate who has lowballed me before told me they were "passing on all my items due to wear." Let me be extremely clear:
- Most of my items were brand new
- Many still had tags + trending items + brands
- I even brought in a brand-new Frigidaire makeup fridge
The "wear" excuse was laughable.
And the kicker? When they returned my items, they were in the exact same order I brought them in meaning they didn't properly examine them at all. They clearly pulled 1-3 things from the top of each bag (barely), pretended to "review," and shoved everything right back.
That includes my expensive satin dress with wiring, which they carelessly shoved at the very top of the bag bent, folded, and disrespected. Absolutely no regard for how to handle a delicate garment.
And the Frigidaire box? Bent up, like they opened it, rummaged through it, and tossed it back together. I hadn't even opened it myself before giving it to them.
When I spoke with the manager, Ashley, she could barely make a valid point. No real explanation, no ownership just repeated what I said back to me and eventually hit me with:
"So what do you want me to do?"
...Ma'am. Your job. That's what.
She could apologize for the time (barely), but not the complete lack of professionalism, dishonesty, or mishandling of my belongings. She even contradicted herself about whether she "saw" the process.
This location should honestly consider NOT taking items at all if they can't afford to give people fair value or even respect their belongings. The inconsistency is ridiculous, and at this point, it feels intentional.
For anyone in Charlotte:
I recommend every Plato's Closet location EXCEPT Huntersville.
Any other location would be a better option! They are consistently fair, professional, and transparent -- everything this one refuses to be.
