Walking in, you have a beautiful bar flanked by a wood burning fireplace surrounded by chairs/ couches. Open the adjacent door and you have the other side of the bar and entrance to the back bar. The back bar is just amazing, complete with a replica of The Titanic! Trust me, you won't see anything like this anywhere... back in the day this bar commissioned folks to go on the ship, they said. What makes the place is the Locals... here they will talk to you, spark up a conversation unlike Dublin & Cork City. Spent 3-4 nights in here and the people you meet and conversations/ gibberish really make it authentic! The bartenders are also all good, dealt with 3 different ones and all of them had plenty of info on the area/ recommendations, etc. The Guinness is amazing and they DO NOT serve food during the off season... have a bag of salted peanuts! Shane took our reservation for 6 o'clock after checking the books and seeing that they had about 20 names down already. We shared an appetizer-sized portion of the calamari, and most of us agreed that we wished we had ordered it for our entrée because it was outstanding. The waiter said the secret is that it is never frozen, and I can only say that I've never tasted calamari that tender and flavorful, so perhaps he's right. Don't get me wrong: each of our entrées was delicious, but that calamari!... Their menu list their local suppliers, which must another secret to outstanding food. We also shared two desserts among the six of us: an Irish cream cheese cake and a chocolate tart. It certainly helped that the weather was perfect, encouraging us to eat outdoors so we could look out at the water. There was a continuous stream of local fanfare and traditional Irish music playing for hours on end. The food was phenomenal - a bit on the pricey end but of the highest quality imaginable. We loved every bite from the soups to the salad, to the seafood.
