Walking in, you have a beautiful bar flanked by a wood burning fireplace surrounded by chairs/ couches. Open the adjacent door and you have the other side of the bar and entrance to the back bar. The back bar is just amazing, complete with a replica of The Titanic! Trust me, you won't see anything like this anywhere... back in the day this bar commissioned folks to go on the ship, they said. What makes the place is the Locals... here they will talk to you, spark up a conversation unlike Dublin & Cork City. Spent 3-4 nights in here and the people you meet and conversations/ gibberish really make it authentic! The bartenders are also all good, dealt with 3 different ones and all of them had plenty of info on the area/ recommendations, etc. The Guinness is amazing and they DO NOT serve food during the off season... have a bag of salted peanuts! I tried a few different types, but always ended up with Jamison in the end. Bartenders were great, I never felt like a customer but more like a friend. I never once had to ask for a drink or had to get their attention..loved how attentive they were. My group grabbed seats just as it started to get crowded, once the music started it felt like everyone in the streets just filed in. It was packed, everyone was having fun signing and drinking ... one big party. I met and had so many great conversations with both locals and people from all over the world. We happened to be here the first time on a Sunday, which is the evening when they have an open mic night of sorts - what a delight! There was a continuous stream of local fanfare and traditional Irish music playing for hours on end. We didn't want to leave after our meal so we stayed on in the lounge area up front next to the musicians to enjoy the scene up close and personal. The food was phenomenal - a bit on the pricey end but of the highest quality imaginable. We loved every bite from the soups to the salad, to the seafood. I'm so glad we were able to enjoy this restaurant a couple of times while we were staying in the area. It really is the best food around here! And the folks who work here and run the place were really friendly - Ireland is already one of the most hospitable places I've ever been to but this place really does well by its patrons, too!

Pat Cohans is famous for the fight scene in the Oscar wining movie (1951) The Quite Man, staring John Wayne and Maureen O'hara. My wife who did all of the travel bookings is an old movie buff and put Cong on our travel itinerary. It was about 3:30 p.m. when we arrived in Cong after our morning visit to the Cliffs Of Moher. We had not eaten since breakfast and quickly made the short two block walk to Pat Cohans. We ordered the double burger with fries and a side order of onion rings. It was all good. Best onion rings I've had in a long, long time. The burgers were excellent. A few of you will pick up on this this statement, "where's the beef", well it was on our burgers. The beef patties were nice and thick. Great burgers! We had a nice late lunch, early dinner.
