Stopped here after landing in Dublin and driving straight to Clifden. This place is sooooo cozy! The staff was amazing and the food delicious. It is centrally located in a cute town with a supermarket next door, post office after, bakery and small local shop across the street and souvenirs in a bigger store next to it. This was my favorite spot our entire trip. This place was so cute inside. We had a nice spot near a fireplace. Seats were comfortable. The bartenders and waitresses were soooo so friendly. Everyone was working together and they even chatted with us while we waited for drinks and food. Big bar and a nice wine selection. Both our meals were flavorful and very good. They had live music when we went which was a nice add on. It was definitely family and couple friendly. Very mixed group of people and it worked well. I would very much recommend! read more

We stopped by this restaurant while we were in Oughterard. The staff was very attentive, for which this place gets 2 stars. The fish and chips was by far the worst we've had, though the portion size was generous. They were very flavorless. We left most of our food, after which the staff did ask us if everything was alright. As we didnt want to hurt their feelings, we were nice, paid, and left. If we were to come back in the future, we would probably try something else. For what its worth, the beer was great. read more

Great atmosphere and beautiful staff. Our dinner was wonderful! We enjoyed the calamari and mussels in white wine sauce as our two appetizers. Both were excellent ! Then our massive dinner portions came out; Rib eye steak, spring chicken and lamb shank. They had so much flavor and were perfectly cooked. We didn't have dessert because we were so full but the table next to us ordered Oreo cheesecake and it looked delicious read more

Oh. my. Word. This is by far the most amazing food I have had in Ireland so far!! I had a hard time choosing between all of the dishes because they all looked so amazing! It was recommended by a local and we couldn't be happier we chose this spot!! I had the spicy chorizo mussels and I have never in my life had better mussels. I ate every single one and my gf did also! She got the lemongrass and coconut milk mussels. It was so amazing she forgot her wine!! A MUST GO!!!!! read more

Outstanding service. Really friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, had great suggestions. We actually came by at 6:30ish pm on a Saturday without a reservation and it was packed so we squeezed in to the bar at first but we got really lucky and our super nice waitress offered us a table as soon as it was vacated. Really cozy, casual, rustic ambience--lots of character. I had the duck and it was delicious! read more

Great atmosphere, excellent staff, and exceptional food/drink. Hard to be vegan in Ireland, so I often have to make concessions. Not so, with this place. The potato appetizer ball was delicious and the vegetable Shepard's pie was tremendous. read more

What a gem! This was such a great find on my drive back from Connemara to Dublin. 2 epic reasons this place caught my attention: 1) It has an authentic Irish exterior; an old thatched roof building, painted white with cute red windows/door :-) 2) Badger and Dodo coffee sign! I'm obsessed with thatched roof houses so I couldn't believe my luck, this one was a pub! Instantly you smell the warm and smokey air from the turf burning from an open fire (also have a stove fire to the rear) and then, perfect the staff back it all up with a friendly greeting :-) although only a little pit shop on my way home I could have stayed here all day, it's that perfect little pub where you'd sit back read the papers or a book and sip away slowly on a pint. They have quiet an interesting menu available, not overly hungry I only opted for the soup which was great and it came with what I can only describe as the best seeded brown bread I've ever tasted. This place is firmly on my radar when I'm heading to/from Connemara now and would recommend this place to everyone, perfect stop or if you're staying in or around the village, I'd say you'd have a great local pub experience as the night goes on. If you're looking for a countryside Irish pub to warm up and a nice pint of Guinness this is what you've been looking for. Simple but well decorated with a fire going and a nice smokey atmosphere it wouldn't be hard to hole up here and have way too many Guinness. We didn't end up eating a full meal here but a lot of food came out around us and it all looked incredible, as did the menu. My wife and I split of chocolate orange cake which was delicious. The service was really attentive for a pub. It seemed like a spot where more than a few locals spend their time. read more

We happened across this charming pub in a town I can't pronounce and discovered a culinary treasure. We started with crab cake and salad app-beautiful presentation, perfectly prepared. We followed with lemon chicken fettuccine with mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and rocket. I only regret that I was unable to finish the large portion placed before me. My traveling companion had a rib eye with potatoes grilled onion, tomato, and portabella mushroom. Again perfectly prepared and more than ample portions. If only I had room for some of the freshly prepared cheesecake. read more

Food is very good. Atmosphere is noisy but fun and lively. Service by wait staff is pretty slow so just expect to wait.

The atmosphere is great, with cozy interior and excellent service. I had the Irish stew, which was classic, hearty, and flavorful. I meant to just grab a quick lunch and go, but ended up hanging out for an extra pint just because I loved the cheerful bustle and friendly people. This might have been my favorite restaurant of a weeklong Ireland trip. read more
