Staying across the street at The Hyde and we arrived in town tired and hungry. I wanted a hot beef or lamb stew and they were the first to pop up. Soup was hot, hardy and delicious. Fried cod cook have been cook another minute was still was good. Guinness was cold and guy at the door was the welcoming, funny and lovely sort you read The Irish are know to be.
We stopped in for a quick meal before catching our train, and while our server was clearly busy, her attitude was off-putting. I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately, the service wasn't the only issue. The food didn't come out as expected either. She first told us that the burger could only be cooked well-done which would take about 20 minutes. (The only thing on the menu that could be cooked to temp was the sirloin) We agreed to wait, but when the food arrived in less than five minutes, it was clear something was off. The burger was dry and seemed pre-cooked, then just reheated. The chicken on the Caesar salad wasn't overly dry, but it also felt like it had been pre-cooked. And the bacon? It wasn't even remotely crispy--just thrown on without much care. Overall, it felt like they really didn't put any effort into it.
Powdered mashed potatoes and undercooked steamed potatoes. Add this to an under braised lamb shank and this dish failed at every level. Even the overly salted gravy could do nothing to course correct the tailspin of a meal. An uninterested waiter was the icing on the cake of this rapidly sinking experience. Fish and chips were damn tasty and that alone elevated this to 2.5478964 stars. Might as well call it three with the round up. Would not repeat except for fish and chips alone. Then again the chips weren't very good. I'm too lazy to recalculate the math. A very generous three stars awarded.
Murray Rabbitts has excellent door, music and service! The standout was the very handsome doorman who was kind enough to rush back to the kitchen and let them know that we were arriving late. As a result they stayed open just long enough for us to have a delicious meal. I highly recommend the lamb stew.
Hands down the BEST food we had in Galway. We were here for 5 days and on the last day decided to come here for dinner. The service was great and very quick. The inside was very cute and clean. If you come here trust me and get the Lamb Shank. The meat fell right off the bone and it was so tasty. I had the cottage pie and I really enjoyed it! Portions are huge for the price. Highly recommend all around!
After asking the BIG Guy at the door a couple menu questions he pretty much ushered us in and aimed us at the first open table! :) He did so very jovially and with great humor and we had a great meal- fish and chips could have used another min in the oil but was still the best fish and chips I've had in Ireland- The traditional lamb Irish stew was fabulous and made the whole meal for my wife and I. If we were in town for a second night I'd be back here for another round of the Lamb in a heartbeat- read more
We were tired after a long day in Galway, so we hopped into this pub across the street from our hotel. I turned out to be a good decision! Decision! I ordered a cottage pie and hubs ordered a steak sandwich. Both were pretty good! There was also a very good musician playing non-traditional music in the bar. This was a good stop! read more

Such a cool place. You have to go see it for yourself. The dining room, where we are, has cool decor including a fireplace and lion throne chairs. The bar was having a bar crawl so it was busy and I wish I had more time to look around. Bangers and mash were delicious. A generous portion and I ate it all, it was that good. The steak sandwich was also very good and big! The pepper sauce was to die for. Our waiter was so friendly and nice. He recommended the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it did not disappoint. Big portion, bigger flavor. Highly recommend (the dessert and place)! read more

Liked the place. I went in for a late lunch. Kind staff, cozy and cool feel to the place. I had the seafood pie (like a shepherds pie) which came with a small salad. The pie was full of seafood and quite rich. The salad had a delicious dressing but a bit too many green peppers however that's a personal taste. Not on the main shopping streets which was nice. They take credit cards and let you pay in euros or dollars. Liked it a lot and would go again. read more
Fantastic small town pub, worthy of a pop in. Nothing really special about it other then being really close to the bus stop. It has that same Irish pub look, same Irish pub feel (you know, comfortable). Play some darts or relax with a basket of chips and have a pint. Nothing better then that. read more

We checked out this pub our first night in Galway. They had delicious food, good help, great atmosphere and space, and plenty of beers on tap. I would highly recommend this place. read more
