I called the owner questioning the service to see if they cleaned behind the dryer vent as well. Joe gave me complete attitude and was quite rude on the phone! This is a family business, father and sons, who take pride in their work. THey arrived on time and are very professional. Their prices are reasonable and are posted on the website. We had our dryer vent cleaned($175) and I was wondering why it took so long to dry. There were two bird's nests in the slats outside and block the air. They were in and out in 30 minutes and cleaned up all the lint inside and out. This is a very honest operation. Last time I had my dryer vent and ducts cleaned and was told to skip the duct cleaning next time because I didn't need it. It's important to clean these ducts to avoid more expensive repairs. You can pay by check or cash. The challenge is getting an appointment. I had to book a month in advance. read more

Despite the fact they were only here for 18 minutes, I definitely got my $119 worth. They arrived on time, jumped right in and started cleaning. There was so much "stuff" in my dryer vent that they even made it "snow" on my back yard (we have a vent that exits through the roof) - that's how jammed my vent was. In the process they answered all my questions and showed me all the steps they were taking. After they were done I told them I was getting a new dryer and they spent an extra few minutes telling me all the common mistakes the dryer delivery person could make and how to fix them. They even left me some extra vent tape in case the delivery people brought cheap stuff. We are purchasing a new washer/dryer system, which is why we finally got around to getting this done. Alas, we haven't actually used out newly-cleaned vents yet, however, we will definitely call them back again in a year when it needs cleaning again! The only complaint I have, and the reason this is 4 stars instead of 5, is because they didn't answer my inquiry email although the "contact us" form on their website said it would take up to 48 hours. Reviewing based on the service received. tl;dr -showed up earlier than appt time on Sat morning -gave attitude when asked to remove shoes Showed up too early at 850AM for a 9AM-2PM Saturday morning appointment window. Not a big deal but annoying early on a Saturday. Better than being late I suppose. I asked the guy to remove his shoes before coming in the house and he was clearly annoyed and said it's very dangerous since there's 240 volts and etc, so I'm thinking 'well, I hope nothing happens' and feeling bad I asked him to put his life at risk. Then all he does is go to the dryer and turn it on. I didn't know I was putting my life at risk everytime I turned the dryer on without shoes... plus his shoes were slip on shoes, so it wasn't even a hassle to remove and put back on. Coming in he left the front door wide open, so I closed it. Then leaving, he left it wide open again. Can't speak to the quality of the work (I can't really easily verify it), but with this kind of service I'd use someone else. read more

We noticed that lint was on the walls of our dryer room and it got kind of humid after multiple dryings with steam on the windows. The Vent Cleaner duo showed up early in their 2 hour window and fixed our dryer connection which had come off due to a clog. They used metallic tape which is now required to pass inspection (don't use regular duck tape anymore when heat is involved they said). Then they cleaned out our vent which was 100% clogged (which had probably caused the pipe to disconnect from the dryer.). They also removed the grill saying we already had a vent cover and the grill just contributes to clogs. Finally they said we don't need to do this more than every few years. ...and like that, they were gone. read more

I live in San Francisco and I own a home in a small courtyard condominium complex of 8 townhomes. What most folks don't realize is that their clothes dryer ducts/home vents should be cleaned out every 6 months to a year+, depending on usage. It allows clothes to dry faster, saves on your PG&E bill, and a fire preventive measure. Your insurance company would love that and you would have proof, should that come up. Well, we shopped around for quotes and got a reasonable one from The Vent Cleaner. And they seemed to be reputable. The first time they came to clean our dryer vents, they did the work thoroughly and fast. That time they blew out the vents via access to each home with air pressure and lotsa lint popped out everywhere. They now use a different, less home-noisy method where they access the vent from the outside, not having to enter homes. Our homes, being two stories, they went to the vent outlets on the roof area. They do a professional job, clean up afterward, are prompt when they make an appointment, and gave a group discount. And they came out on a Saturday morning all the way from San Jose. They charged per home but we got a group rate. We're always pleased with their work and will always call them for our clothes dryer vent cleaning. I highly recommend The Vent Cleaner to single family homeowners, condos/TICs, apartment buildings, laundromats, etc. Doing this procedure really will save you money in energy costs and a safety measure against fires. Josh paid us a visit today and he and his associate took care of some LONG overdue vent cleaning. Josh arrived early but texted me with his ETA. That was much appreciated. He clearly explained to me what they were going to do. High marks for communication. They did an outstanding job on cleaning the dryer vent and the booster that is needed to push the lint from the back of the dryer to the vent on the back of our house (due to city building codes that's how the dryer venting had to be done when we added the laundry room in our garage). I got to clean the top of the dryer and 10 years of dryer lint accumulation. That felt good. The annoying hummmm we have been hearing as the dryer nears the end of its cycle is now gone. The hummm was due to the booster being mightily clogged with lint. Josh also alerted me of the need to change our furnace filter (actually the pre-filter). The equipment he used reminded me of the gnu gnu on the Teletubbies that went around and cleaned up messes. Josh and The Vent Cleaner is our vent cleaner going forward. Period. Nobody ever told me I was supposed to have my dryer vent cleaned out regularly. But when my dryer started taking hours to dry clothes, and the lint screen was only collecting lint in one small corner, I figured the vent was to blame. Backed up vents causing fires are one of the leading causes of house fires. Who knew? I had these guys come in this morning (I only just called yesterday!), bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 8:00am. They were right on time, pleasant, professional, and didn't waste time. It only took them about 40 minutes to clean out my dryer vent, after which time they recommended that I run the dryer (empty) on high heat for about 2 hours in order to remove any remaining moisture. That's right. Moisture. Dryer vents get sopping wet when they're clogged with lint. After all, the purpose of a dryer is to remove moisture from clothes. That's what the vent is for. Mine actually had standing water in it, which they tell me is not unusual! Holy cow! The fee was a flat rate, extremely reasonable (especially considering you only need this done about once a year). They take cash and checks -- no credit cards (and they informed me of that when I made the appointment -- nice forewarning). read more

I called Vent Cleaners one day and Jason was at my house the next morning five minutes early!!! Our dryer had been creating wicked condensation in our bathroom where it is and making our whole house steamy and wet. We realized that the hose in the back was disconnected and our vents were probably clogged. Jason showed up five minutes early and cleaned and repaired everything in twenty minutes. Do not have your furnace duct work cleaned by this company. I had them out to my house to clean the house duct work from my furnace and the return ducts. We have COPD in the house and that is why we wanted to help eliminate any possible dust. Horrible idea. The cleaning process "filled the house with white dust" that I not sure I have it all cleaned up and it has been months of cleaning every surface in the house. every picture frame every surface coated with dust. My service came with a free dryer vent cleaning and included a furnace blower cleaning. Unfortunately they are not HVAC certified so the furnace blower cleaning was not done because there were wires that they apparently are not certified to work on preventing the blower from being cleaned (When I looked at the furnace blower it is disgusting and full of dust so I will need to pay someone else to come clean it, when I called the owner "he offered to refund a portion of the bill I already paid for the service that was not done" (cleaning the heater blower). The dryer vent in the garage and not part of my heating system was actually new so it only cleaned on the exterior flaps and lots of dust was visible just inside the flaps after they left. Poor workmanship in my opinion. video available upon request. Now I am finding that the heating vents in bedroom number 1 have very low output. So I am pretty sure that the dryer vent cleaning equipment (the stiff rods designed for dryer vents ONLY ) managed to knock the ductwork dampers or air flow tuning devices out of whack. these are the devices the heating installation guys installed to make sure all rooms had the same amount of heat coming from the registers even if they are far or close to the heater. Now a room close to the heater has almost no air flow. The company is nice and I am sure they would come out to fix this problem but I do not think I want them to come back unless I have a metal ductwork pipe that needs cleaning and it is not in the house. So for dryer vent cleaning probably fine. For cleaning heating and air conditioning ducts I DO NOT RECOMMEND, instead hire a certified HVAC professional. It is probably a good idea to also hire a vent cleaner that is certified by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA). This company is not NADCA certified and does not believe in it. 1. Filled whole house with white dust 2. Most likely Knocked the adjustment of the airflow dampers out of whack bedroom 1. 3. Accepted payment for work not done. (was refunded upon request) 4. Upon my own internet research at the company website of their equipment used, determined the equipment used on my insulated heating ducts was designed for metal dryer vents only and insulated heating ducts are supposed to use a more flexible extender designed for house ductwork. Nice people - Lousy process for in home ductwork cleaning. Probably just fine for exterior access dryer vents pictures available upon request. read more

I regret using this company based on price alone. The total cost was $198 ( for an 1100 square ft condo that is 10 years old.) They were in and out in about 10 minutes and mentioned during the process that I had one of the easiest setups in my community. I have a small condo at Tuscany Hills and this year they implemented a mandatory dryer vent cleaning policy to help minimize fire risks. Tuscany Hills is a very large community of condos, town houses and single family homes. Our HOA negotiated deals with two vendors for a cost of $100 per home if you wanted to use one of the two vendors. This company was one of the vendors that they negotiated the deal with. When I called "The Vent Cleaner" they did tell me up front that if I had one of the types of homes with a booster fan that the cost would be an extra 100$. However, they didn't give me any information so that I could identify whether or not I had the booster fan. (I easily could have walked into my garage and seen the fan in the ceiling if they had explained this.) I assumed that I didn't have the booster fan and went ahead and scheduled the appt. Some of the other companies that I called quoted a slightly higher initial price with a much smaller additional charge for the booster fan so the total cost would have been much less. Some companies didn't charge extra for the booster fan at all. Also, the Vent Cleaner company even slipped up and told me that my unit was one of the easiest setups. (So why charge me double the price?) I really believe that the home owners here with the booster fan were taken advantage of. We gave them a lot of extra business, and they made up for the slightly lower initial cost by socking it to the home owners that had the booster fans - Not cool! Since we will need to have the dryer vents cleaned every 2 years, I'm going to recommend to the HOA that we don't include this company for future years. If you live at Tuscany Hills and have one of the 1104 sq ft units, you have the booster fan, and I recommend you go with someone else. read more

As mentioned in my other reviews, since the other company cannot clean my dryer vents on the 2nd floor, I found the Vent Cleaner to come. Since I have bathroom exhausts as well, I figure why not clean those too. Yes, this guys cleans the bathroom fans!!! They give discounts if you have them clean more things. They clean air ducts too, and charge per system. They would give you discounts if you combine the air ducts with dryer vents etc. These guys came within the 1st hour of the 2-hour window as promised. They took off their shoes when they went on my carpeted stairs. They let me see how much lint they got out of my dryer vent (yikes), so I knew they did the job. They finished their job within an hour. I didn't expect them to stay that long if I only had some dryer and bathroom exhausts cleaned. They suggest that I call them back in about 2 years to clean these vents again. As everyone can see from my reviews, I have been trying to clean all my vents in the house. It's all done now. My dryer was way overdue for a cleaning and it was taking a couple of cycles to dry a normal load of towels and clothes. A colleagues fathers home burned down due to a dryer fire so I knew this needed to be done asap. My neighbor also needed her vent cleaned so we scheduled together. We were quoted $99 each, $119 without multiple discount. Anyway, the two workers showed up as scheduled, very good guys who were efficient and even cleaned up all the lint on my patio. My vent was in bad shape and they got a ton of lint out of the vent. Fast forward to the weekend--I did my first laundry since my vents were clean and my 17 year old dryer dried in less than half the time than before it was cleaned. I will easily recoup the $99 in less energy costs and wear and tear on the dryer. The Vent Cleaner just earned a recurring client. I highly recommend them! read more

Came to our apartment building with more than 30 units and left after about 45 minutes. Later when asked about it by the manager claimed they had been there for 2 hours, which is not true. All work was done externally to the apartments so there was no need to require people to be there and then threaten people that if they weren't there then they would personally be charged $120 for a return visit. read more

We've used them twice to clean the vents in our condo. Great service, prompt appointments. They're lightning fast, very thorough about cleaning out the vents and diligent about cleaning up when they were done. Plus, the first time they were out they noticed a strange secondary lint trap in the vent leading out to the exterior wall. Upon their advice we removed that (it lifted right out) and the dryer worked much better after that. Greatly appreciated their recommendation! Jason and Casey showed up right on time and were very professional. For example: - They covered up the floor so that their big machine wouldn't scratch it - Asked permission to use the bathroom - Did not try to up-sell me anything. As a matter of fact, they didn't try to sell me anything at all. When I asked if the filter in the furnace needed replacement, Jason just said I should just hose it down, like he did, and I'd be good to go. When he mentioned that my venting system was original (read very, VERY old. Think 50 years old!) and that it would eventually need replacement, he didn't try to sell me vent replacement services. And when he was about to tell me how often I should get the vent system cleaned, I started to think "Oh, here we go, he's gonna say every 6 months or so..." he said 3 4 YEARS! If there's one thing I hate is the salesman pitch, and I am glad The Vent Cleaner crew did not try that angle at all, and were simply honest and, again, very professional. Besides cleaning every single vent, and even crawling under the house to get something that was stuck in a vent from underneath, they also cleaned the dyer's vent for free, and even replaced the tube free of charge as well (apparently I'm not supposed to have plastic tubes for that!).
