As an Atlanta native, my expectations weren't high and not in the way you'd think. When you go to The Varsity you know you're getting a greasy gut bomb and somehow you love it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised. The food honestly seems to be better quality or better prepared idk than my home town OG Varsity. The cashier was super sweet and helpful in making my decision. We sat outside since it's a nice day and the tables were clean even though they were decently busy. Overall, I was impressed! Both hubby and I ordered chili dogs and shared an order of onion rings. He got the Coke float and I got the frosted orange. Everything was good. Nice work Varsity crew. read more

Stopped by so my husband could get hot dogs and fries. He enjoyed his food and said this is the best location he's visited so far. Everything tasted exactly how he expected and definitely satisfied his cravings. I think it's a bit overpriced though. Service was quick, and we would come back. read more

First time here or any varsity in some time other than the airport and couldn't wait. Got 2 #2 chili cheeseburger and a dog and fries. Service was fast to pay move on, drinks were ready and food so we pulled over to eat before driving . Same varsity we remember , she forgot our frosted orange but didn't charge but that was ok we were full. Onions and condiments were separate so kinda nice . No bag just boxes so for driving you don't get a trash bag but I carry them just a heads up. Had to lose a star because I felt like I was paying airport prices. $35 for 2 #2 with med drinks. We're in GA not CA !! I was shocked. Guess it's been a while but over $15 a piece I'll keep cooking at home . But this is 2024, election year, 8M illegals we gotta pay for so not this branch fault. We got no chili dog, cold fries, cold onion rings and no onions. If you hanker the greasy V , drive to North Avenue or Maybe Dawsonville, but skip this Winder location. Overpriced, lame food with terrible service . We ordered food at 6:46 and had to pull up and wait for fries until 7:05. My son had the double bacon cheeseburger and it was the size of a hockey puck and a smushed bun for 5.83. 6 onion rings were 3.29. They did at least taste good but the burger was disgusting. We ordered two dogs each with chili, cheese, and slaw. Ordered onions on the side. We got our food fairly quickly. The hot dogs were delicious. This particular Varsity location is in Winder, Georgia and if you are familiar with the Varsity chain, it is what you would expect from a Varsity location. It is fast-food, but it also has a long history of serving the Atlanta, Georgia area. The first Varsity opened up as "the Yellow Jacket" way back in 1928 at the corner of Luckie Street and Hemphill Avenue in Atlanta. The Varsity has since expanded throughout the Atlanta area. The burgers and hot dogs are fast-food quality and you should judge it as fast food. I think people come here because of memories or because of its longevity in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Regardless of the reason you come here, take the Varsity for what it is (a fast-food restaurant) and enjoy your meal. I guess overall I will give this particular Varsity location four stars. read more

If you want a good chili cheese dog then go to any other fast food place because others are so much better. I'm so confused how anybody actually likes the food. The hotdogs are tiny and my dog wouldn't even eat the last bite. I also tried the cheeseburger and that was absolutely terrible. The prices are outrageously expensive for this poor quality food. I tried The Varsity one time when I moved here about 20 years ago and decided to give it one more try. Never again! Hopefully they go out of business and something great moves into this space. The ordering process was simple, but as someone else mentioned, customer service was pretty nonexistent. Our order was given to us without any words. The food was not good. The onion rings were all caked up and stuck together. Totally inedible. Asked for onions before I left the drive through and was told they were in my box. They weren't. So I drove back and I was then told they didn't have any chopped onions for the chili dogs. Disappointing considering I paid over $16 for two miniature chili dogs and onion rings. No drink with the meal. That'll cost you extra. First and last time going to this Varsity. I'll stick to the original downtown. read more

My husband and I were excited when we saw The Varsity in Bethlehem being built as we are native Georgians and lifelong fans of the Varsity in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the restaurant has no indoor dining. Only drive-thru and outdoor seating. The experience definitely loses something in takeout. Yesterday the weather had warmed up sufficiently for us to go to the restaurant and eat outside. There had apparently been a rainstorm there earlier. It was around 4:00. There was standing water on all of the tables, as well as water on the chairs and a lot of water on the concrete floor in the dining area. Also, there was a significant amount of trash on the ground, no mustard or ketchup bottles on the tables, nor salt or pepper, and no napkin dispensers as there generally are. The food was ok but the general state of the dining area was off putting. The employees seemed unmotivated to make the outdoor dining area usable. I had to request at the ordering counter for someone to wipe off a table and chairs for us so we would have a place to eat. (The rain was gone.). Two employees were then sent out to clean things up. (I wonder why, if The Varsity is going to require their customers to eat outside in generally uncomfortable conditions, they don't have an employee come to the dining area every half hour or so to clean off tables, sweep up debris, and make sure the tables are provided with condiments and napkins, and wipe down chairs and tables after rain. ). Having no indoor dining seems to be a very poor business choice, especially since we have had temperatures ranging from the teens to 72 degrees this month alone. In conclusion, the food is generally ok, but the unclean and uncomfortable surroundings detract greatly from any enjoyment one may have in the food. read more
