    Everything was there!! Yay!

First time here or any varsity in some time other than the airport and couldn't wait. Got 2 #2 chili cheeseburger and a dog and fries. Service was fast to pay move on, drinks were ready and food so we pulled over to eat before driving . Same varsity we remember , she forgot our frosted orange but didn't charge but that was ok we were full. Onions and condiments were separate so kinda nice . No bag just boxes so for driving you don't get a trash bag but I carry them just a heads up. Had to lose a star because I felt like I was paying airport prices. $35 for 2 #2 with med drinks. We're in GA not CA !! I was shocked. Guess it's been a while but over $15 a piece I'll keep cooking at home . But this is 2024, election year, 8M illegals we gotta pay for so not this branch fault. But for varsity, this was good, fast, friendly. Highly recommend!!!

    A rip off.

Overpriced, lame food with terrible service . We ordered food at 6:46 and had to pull up and wait for fries until 7:05. My son had the double bacon cheeseburger and it was the size of a hockey puck and a smushed bun for 5.83. 6 onion rings were 3.29. They did at least taste good but the burger was disgusting. Save your money and time.

Stopped by this location because my wife and I were craving hot dogs. Location is off 316. You can either order drive thru or can eat at their outdoor seating area. We ordered two dogs each with chili, cheese, and slaw. Ordered onions on the side. We got our food fairly quickly. The hot dogs were delicious. We had our lab with us who was able to sit next to our table.

The so called "cheeseburger" with nasty dried out meat. . Don't waste your money

If you want a good chili cheese dog then go to any other fast food place because others are so much better. I'm so confused how anybody actually likes the food. The hotdogs are tiny and my dog wouldn't even eat the last bite. I also tried the cheeseburger and that was absolutely terrible. The prices are outrageously expensive for this poor quality food. I tried The Varsity one time when I moved here about 20 years ago and decided to give it one more try. Never again! Hopefully they go out of business and something great moves into this space. What a waste.

Dining is spotless and while dining in you're most likely to see someone picking up trash and wiping tables. We used to drive to Athens for our Freddy's fix but now all we have to do is drive across the highway. Win for us! Food comes out steaming hot! Fries hot and crispy. Not really a fan of shoestring fries but these hit the spot every time!

The taco burger was fine but no cheese. The chili cheese dog was a bust as there was very little chili and I asked for onions but had to go back to have them added. Which got me a look like what do you mean interrupting my day! On the funny side their microphone at the order pickup station was not working and I watched the same employee grab the microphone enthusiastically and announce order after order number that only he could hear. I guess he had his ear buds turned up drowning out what was happening. It was funny because he could not figure out why people were not coming to pick up their orders. At least there was entertainment! Try a different location this one has issues.

My first impression was not great as we waited 10 minutes just to put our name on the list for a table. The staff member who had "the list" was also taking phone orders, getting to-go meals from the back, and taking people's payments. My husband was not happy that the phone orders took priority over the people in the restaurant. We watched people leave and watched the tables get cleared. We and another couple wondered why we were not being seated as there were tables available. The lady seating customers was busy checking out several parties and looking for to-go orders. Finally, after waiting 30 minutes (apparently we got there at the busiest time) we were seated. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. We both got the Wednesday special of fried chicken. I looked at mine and thought it looked overcooked, then I looked at my husband's and his was BURNT. I am very surprised they plated and sent out a piece of chicken that looked like his did. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of his. My corn muffin was hard but I was able to eat part of it. We waited for our ticket to go to the register to pay, but it never came. Finally, we just went to the register to pay. The waitress never came back to check if we needed refills (this is important to my husband as he always needs refills on his water). Definitely could have gotten a better fried chicken meal for a lesser price elsewhere. Will not go back.

There's a fresh meat counter in the back "carniceria" with a pretty great selection of meats both marinated and not. To the left of the meat counter is the restaurant. There was a little language barrier and we had no direction on how to order or where to order but we made it happen. Being from California I am a little familiar with some Spanish words and most foods so I knew what I wanted. On one side of the menu there are also English descriptions of the dish. See placed our order with the nice lady at the register and found ourselves a seat. The restaurant had a constant flow of customers shell we were there so we felt great about what we were going to get. We ordered the quesabirrias, carnita tacos, and a barbacoa burrito. As well as an orange Fanta bottle in Mexico. (That real sugar and fancy glass bottle makes a difference) The carnita tacos were ready first and OMGSHH they had me doing a little happy dance. The carnita was juicy, tender, salty, with all the wonderful bits of fat and pork skin. Add to that the homemade tortillas, anddd then the homemade salsas. I still think of those tacos... Second the quesabirrias came out. I'm not big on ordering trending foods but since this is a dish I make regularly for my family I like to try other's take on it. The tacos were made with the homemade tortillas. This time double wrapped to prevent them from breaking apart. Honestly this dish was just okay for me. Loved the tortillas but the barbacoa, though tender, was actually pretty dry. There also wasn't a crazy amount of cheese so that didn't make a difference. The tacos definitely needed dipping in the consume. Which was also okay. Not the worst I've had but not the best. Didn't receive the dried arbor pepper but I did add some of the chili oil they had and it was a great addition. I love spicy foods and it was perfect for me. Not too spicy and adds a little smokiness. But we warned it may be too spicy for most. The burrito was probably the most disappointing. It was yummy though filled with mostly rice and very little protein. My husband got it with barbacoa which after having the birria tacos we realized was dry so that didn't help. What did help were to add some of all the great sauces they had. Next time we will try it with another protein and probably stay away from the barbacoa even though it's usually one of our favorites. Of course we also grabbed some chicharron before we left because they looked amazing. We usually have a local place we liked to get ours but they looked great at this location we couldn't help ourselves. I can't wait to go back to try more of their entrées and my husband their ceviche!
