Occasionally people would stop by and get take-away, and the restaurant seemed to readily accommodate this. What really set this place apart was its food. My friend ordered what I would discover was the best daal I've ever had in my entire life. She had it with a plain pilau and a garlic naan, and both were very satisfying. I ordered a lamb curry, which was a perfect mix of spicy and meaty, and it came in a reasonable portion. At first we were disappointed as both our starters - the lamb chops and veggie samosas - were average at best with both being rather dry and scrawny. But then the entrees arrived and the Spice House was redeemed. The lamb vindaloo was properly spiced and perfectly delicious. The sag paneer, cucumber raita, and royal tandoor were equally wonderful. Rice, pappadam and a couple of nan rounded out our meal and we went home very happy. The service was good and the decor was modern and clean if a bit uninspired. One caveat. Our children ordered ginger ales and we were served the smallest bottles I have ever seen - 125ml (4 oz) of warm soda each. I'm guessing they are only used as mixers.
