Great entrees but so-so starters and no desserts
After travelling in England for a few days we were desperate for some spice and based on reviews and recommendations chose the Spice House. At first we were disappointed as both our starters - the lamb chops and veggie samosas - were average at best with both being rather dry and scrawny.
But then the entrees arrived and the Spice House was redeemed. The lamb vindaloo was properly spiced and perfectly delicious. The sag paneer, cucumber raita, and royal tandoor were equally wonderful. Rice, pappadam and a couple of nan rounded out our meal and we went home very happy.
The service was good and the decor was modern and clean if a bit uninspired. One caveat. Our children ordered ginger ales and we were served the smallest bottles I have ever seen - 125ml (4 oz) of warm soda each. I'm guessing they are only used as mixers. And the only desserts on offer were ice creams (i.e. no Indian desserts such as kheer or galab jamun). read more
