The Usual is one of those coffee shops that keeps drawing me back. It's more than just a place to grab coffee--it's a comfortable space where I can relax, enjoy a good meal, and get some work done. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with plenty of comfortable seating, reliable Wi-Fi, and lots of power outlets for laptops. The view through the front windows adds to the experience, making it an easy place to spend a few hours. The coffee is consistently excellent, and they have a wonderful selection of Slavic-inspired pastries that pair perfectly with their drinks. They also have a small kitchen serving delicious Eastern European comfort foods, and I haven't had a meal there that I didn't enjoy. If you're looking for something different, they also offer specialty drinks like Italian sodas. The staff have always been friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to work, meet a friend, or simply enjoy great coffee and food, The Usual is a true neighborhood gem and one of my favorite cafés in Seattle. Highly recommended!
This spot is amazing. The food is just next level, super filling and great prices. I also got some of their baked goods and a coffee and they all hit the spot. We're going to make this our usual spot for sure.
The Usual is a cute little coffee shop with a modern and cozy vibe. There is a specially curated menu for drinks and your traditional cafe drinks. The pastries also look delicious here. The service was very fast, receiving our drinks soon after we ordered them. The Usual (drink) is an iced shaken oat milk vanilla latte. The drink is very smooth and has a nice combination of flavors with the oat milk and vanilla. The strawberry matcha was okay to me. While the fresh strawberry puree was very delightful, the overall drink seemed watered down and very lack luster. Overall, if you're looking for a cozy spot for coffee or a place to study, I'm sure The Usual could be the place for you.
Finally came to try this place after having it bookmarked for so long. The interior is so aesthetic and theres lots of tables. They have wifi and it would be a good spot to work. The staff is very friendly. Got the usual and the RAF coffee and both were yummy! Pretty strong coffee flavor. Would come back
Upon first impressions, this cafe is super cute and aesthetic. I love that the decor makes me feel like I am in Europe. Very spacious and plenty of seating for a busy weekend morning. It seemed like all of the staff were working in the back, but when you enter there was a tablet that you can use to put in your order. The food/drinks come out fairly quickly. I had a strawberry matcha latte, and I actually really like that the drinks aren't sweet. It tasted just right. Their glassware is also very pretty and are a nice touch! Street parking was not difficult, also don't forget to bus your table!
Pretty incredible coffee all around! Their house drink "the usual" is maybe one of the better coffee drinks for the area. With just one barista during my visit, it took a little over 10 minutes, so I do wish service was a little faster, but the cafe itself is cute, the ambiance is welcoming, and very welcome curated.
Idk ab the coffee or anything else on the menu but DO NOT order the matcha here. It was just a big cup of milk.
After stops in Pioneer Square and another on Yesler, I decided to checkout The Usual for a midday bite and coffee (9/21/24). I've had it bookmarked for awhile. Looks like first Yelp review was last year, however, Tshirts available for purchase state 2022 as when they were established. The Usual has sidewalk seating and indoor table and counter seating. I really like the indoor aesthetic of high ceilings, natural light, eye catching tilework, and lots of healthy plants. Enticing, well stocked pastry case. Nice variety of menu selections. Pleasant barista. I selected a turkey & havarti croissant and a 16oz iced mocha to have onsite. The croissant sandwich was warmed and generous serving of arugula was added. The iced mocha was well crafted and served in a nice hefty tall glass. I remained onsite for an hour. Nice steady stream of customers who also dined onsite, more of the convo crowd and just one laptop seen. Also folks who popped in for bevs and baked goods for takeout. I enjoyed my visit and will have to remember to return, especially to try their pelmeni.
Delicious pastries...will return to try their entrees. Excellent service and attention to detail AND accommodating since I'm a sugar baby (diabetic). Great relaxing vibe with jazzy music. You Gots to patron this quaint coffee shop on Yesler. Great spot for meetings too.
This cafe is super cute, and the food and drinks were beautifully presented. The coffee was decent, and the Cirniki had a nice texture--not too sweet, which I liked. The Pelmeni looked great but didn't quite deliver on flavor.
Great coffee & food. I've ordered the usual (their main coffee drink) more than once. The customer service is always great every time I stop by. Great place to study or meet up with friends.
We came here on a Monday afternoon. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the beautiful interiors, free wifi, and our delicious food. Parking was not bad as we easily found a spot in the surrounding neighborhood.
Such a cute and delicious coffee spot! It's a little out of the way to get too but the area itself is quite nice. The inside is beautifully decorated with a bunch of green and the seating is spacious and cozy. I got the usual, which is a shaken espresso with oat milk and a little bit of sweetener. It was absolutely delicious -- my exact ideal coffee. I was shocked that it was exactly what it was when the cashier described it to me, because it's what I'd order if I had a choice. It was the perfect level of sweetness with a strong espresso flavor and creamy oat milk. My friends got their food which looked beautiful and they said was delicious. I'd highly recommend this spot !!

One of the best cafes I've found to study / do work at. The interior is so cute and have lots of seats. I ordered their strawberry matcha latte and a raspberry croissant. The croissant was okay but the latte was really good. Solid place to hang out with friends / do work. read more

Yummy! Friendly workers, clean, aesthetic vibes, and easy parking around the neighborhood. Lox bagel 4/5 - Perfect amount of cream cheese but more salmon would be nice. The toasted bagel was so airy and soft! Iced matcha latte (w/ vanilla) 5/5 - Perfect amount of sweetness (vanilla was not overpowering) read more

I'm new to Seattle and working location free so I'm hoping to find some places to work when I need a change of scenery. I stopped at The Usual and found it to be a nice space with good food and drink options. I liked that they have a good mix of seating types (high tops, couches, cushioned chairs). I worked at a high top by the window, which was nice because they get a lot of natural light (something I'm learning not to take for granted in Seattle). I ordered the lavender rose latte and the turkey havarti croissant - both were really good. And service was quick. I'd recommend this spot. read more

Found my new favorite cafe! The clean and modern interior is visually appealing, and the prices are on par with other cafes in the area. I ordered the Vanilla Latte. Impressed by their prompt service and how quickly they clean and wipe down tables after customers leave. The pastries look tasty! I'll definitely try them next time. Free street parking is a plus! read more

Great, if limited brunch spot. The good (from what i've tried so far): * The coffee is great * The avocado toast is divine! * The baristas are quick and very nice. * The space is super chill with plenty of seats available to enjoy your coffee or chat with your friends. The bad (none of which is really "bad"): * The menu is pretty small so your options for a real sit-down brunch aren't what some other places might offer. read more
Stopped by this coffeeshop on a weekend to get some studying in. The coffee was great, baristas very friendly, and plenty of open seating and natural light. If you're looking to study or get some work done, they have WiFi as well which makes it a great coffeeshop to head to for a few hours. Highly recommend coming in and trying the cirniki (classic Ukrainian cheese pancakes) and grabbing a cup of coffee! read more

Maybe I just came on a bad day but the matcha here was very watered down to me. The avocado toast was really yummy though. Price was pretty expensive. Everything included in the photo was like 46$. Service was good. All in all don't think I'll be coming back. read more
Great atmosphere, seating for nearly 40 people. Good coffee and the food here is great! Get the Cirniki if you want a delicious sweet treat. Coffee here is from Onyx, staff is friendly, and this place gets packed! Will definitely be back read more

Cute mellow coffee house with a kitchen churning out hot food as well. Excellent coffee (I had a large oat latte with 3 shots of espresso for $7.28, which seemed a little steep but it was tasty and robust). Self-serve tap water. Lots of seating with many quiet studying folks. Live plants and high ceilings give it a good vibe. Neat variety of patrons coming through, from moms with sleeping kids to construction workers. Bathroom with fun graphic coffee-themed mural. Friendly staff. The only vegan food item was an unidentifiable lump of something, but there was a wide selection of large non-vegan pastries. Solid 4.5 stars. I'm rounding down because of a strong fish odor from one patron's order (it dissipated quickly; it's just not a smell I expected at a coffee house) and elevator-esque piano music. read more

The first impression when we came up to the coffee shop was original minimalist sign, which screams modern. Inside is clean and inviting and background music creates good vibe. The menu contains almost all Ukrainian dishes.I ordered a turkey, havarti croissant sandwich with interesting spread that left pleasing taste and texture in my mouth. Also we ordered sirniki (curd fritter) sampler. The platter had 4 sirniki with pistachio, strawberry, mango and tart cherry toppings in a creamy lightly sweetened sauce. And of course how can you go to the coffee shop and not get coffee? Coffee is simply good coffee. The barista and the cook were friendly and service was pleasurable. Definitely check this place out you won't be disappointed. read more

Stopped by due to a friends recommendation and this place did not disappoint. As soon as you walk in, you notice the beautiful decor with the whole space being embellished by plants. The intricate tile and the unique furniture choices instantly draw you in however, what really keeps you is the coffee. We got a drink, called the usual, which was two shots of espresso with oat milk and vanilla syrup shaken and poured into a beautiful crystal glass with just the right amount of ice. The first sip was as great as the last and both me and my partner felt like the drink was made just right not too sweet. We will definitely be coming back to try some other items and maybe work from here since it looks like they have Wi-Fi. If you're thinking about coming here, just do it already! read more

The ambiance is chill and the shop is beautiful! We ordered their September special latte The Cab and it was a 12/10. Delicious, flavorful with the perfect balance of coffee vs sweetness. We got our coffee in under 5 minutes and had a comfortable place to sit and wait. Definitely recommend!!! read more

Great study spot! Fast WiFi, great service, aesthetic interior, and the pistachio croissant was amazing!!!!!! Got the usual (shaken espresso with vanilla and oatmilk) and a strawberry matcha and absolutely loved everything. It was quite busy at 2 pm on a weekday, so it might be hard to find seating during peak hours. read more
