Leave it to me to wait until the last minute to execute this project, but I did and Target Print & Mail committed to my deadline. In fact, when I picked up the packets on Friday afternoon (an hour prior to the event) the manager (Jeremy, who if I remember correctly is the son in law of the lady who started Target Copy "waybackwhen") offered to show me the facility - VERY impressive indeed and clearly capable of handling ANY job that TLH could send their way. Digital AND offset printing operations along with all the esoteric machinery to accomplish common and uncommon tasks. I've depended on Target Copy off and on since undergrad days (I'm FSU '89 and '94). By no means have I been a high profile client here, but I've always been made to feel like I actually was.

As for what I sent out, the first was a care package with fragile items that arrived in one piece. The second a letter that will be arriving later in the week. The floors were in very bad shape but the worse part was the bathrooms. It looks like they are never cleaned. I had boxed up two of the packages myself at home, the third he did, and I needed a cardboard envelope for the fourth. It cost about $10 for the box, packing peanuts, and labor (labor alone was $4.50). The store inside is basically just a warehouse. Nothing pretty but gets the job done! The parking was fine & it was surprisingly easy to get in & out of their parking lot with the traffic.

I used Pak Mail 450 after a Tallahassee-area auction referred me there to collect, pack, and ship a…read moresmall item. Pak Mail quoted me $118.96, including $87.11 attributed to FedEx shipping. I checked directly with FedEx and was quoted $39.80 as an individual customer without any commercial discount. Pak Mail's total quote was nearly three times that amount, and even the portion attributed to FedEx was more than twice FedEx's direct retail price. Although I asked, I was never given an explanation for this substantial difference. This was especially concerning because commercial shipping businesses generally receive carrier discounts that individual customers do not. Pak Mail would not adjust its quote. I ultimately purchased my own $39.80 FedEx label and still paid Pak Mail $54.35 for pickup and packing, bringing my total delivery cost to $94.15. I understand that a business must charge for its services and make a reasonable profit. My concern is the lack of transparent pricing and the unexplained difference between the stated FedEx charge and FedEx's direct price. Before using this location, obtain a written, itemized estimate, check the carrier's rate yourself, and read the other customer reviews. Based on my experience, I would not use Pak Mail 450 again.
