I went to a UPS branch to help my girlfriend change her address, and a man helped them; everything seemed normal. He asked my girlfriend for her ID, and she gave him one. He said he needed proof of the old address with my girlfriend's name on it. I told him we would come back the next day, but she found a letter with the old address in my car, so we went back at the same time and waited. Another man helped me, who seemed angry. He told me to show him my green card or whatever it was I had shown the previous person, and this was only because I was speaking Spanish with my girlfriend and because of my Latino appearance, because all I had to do was say "ID, not residency." He would not accept it in a plastic bag - "had to be a shipping bag or box". I found a used box so I wouldn't have to drive back again but the same guy wanted to charge me $2.18 for a piece of tape. I'll be honest this store gets a 3.5 from me and I'm not rounding up because I'm just not. While I appreciate they are two doors down from my favorite store (my jeweler) and open on Sundays they are at times EXTREMELY slow and not very friendly. I have also been recently frequenting this location and the Stony Brook location. The last time I was in this location with my mask on I noticed an employee with the mask below his nose and almost off around his mouth area and a patron with her mask off. Call me crazy but I'm wearing the mask to protect myself and my family and the outside world. Plus the CDC as far as I know hasn't lifted the no mask wearing so all should be wearing. I get it that the mask is uncomfortable but c'mon people. Especially when this store has a sign on the door that you must wear a mask to enter and we're wearing masks to protect you. I'll continue to drop my packages off when I need to but I'll be honest I rather go to Stony Brook cause it's much easier and friendlier. read more

I requested a pickup and shipment for an item, which I have done in various states before. I frequently purchase items from auction sites across the country. However, this UPS store informed me that they would charge $100 if the pickup needed to happen today. I've never encountered this kind of charge before. Literally the worst with hidden fees. Wanted to print something, called and asked and was quoted $1.10/page. Went to the store and they added a $5 charge to email the picture (crazy since email is literally free) and wanted to add $15 to print 2 per page. I then took my same project to FedEx (inside middle island Walmart) and they charged me a total of $6 for the project these guys wanted more than $30 for! Today I came in to the 414 w.sunrise hwy patchouge location to mail a package and ask a question about another package I shipped two weeks ago from a non UPS location. It's been missing for two weeks. Your associate instructed me to contact UPS Or go to the location where I dropped it off. Why I didn't think of this before , I don't know. But she went above and beyond to even try to track the missing package and explained how important it is to get a receipt any time I drop off a UPS package. Just for tracking purposes. Had to return my textbooks from my most recent semester. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with a smile. The staff was happy and laughing and extremely friendly. I wish more places had staff like this !!she made sure I had everything I needed and then explained to me that if anything were to go wrong with my order that I have the proof of return on the receipt which I had no clue about so that's pretty cool too. Had such a great experience here today! Had to create about 400 labels and needed them ASAP. I first went over to Staples where they told me I needed to go home, make a PDF, get different labels.... blah blah. No help. I came over to UPS and Stevie got me out the door in under 10 minutes while helping her coworkers and multiple other customers. I read other reviews that said that things felt rushed but the people here were hustling to help people which was awesome. While I hope I don't need another ASAP job, if I did I would definitely come straight here. Stevie needs a raise! Lol read more

I got a quote online from UPS.com, all I had to do was print the label. Instead I said let me go to the store. That was my first mistake, now I'm unsure if this store is a franchise or company owned but I felt as if they were trying to price gauge me on everything. I had someone with me and they also felt the person helping me was rude and just looking to cash in on someone sending out a package scaring them into thinking that they may not have packed it right. Asking want us to repack it for you to avoid an issue if the package is damaged....then switching to offering me $300+ shipping services on an item i explained I just got a cheaper quote for online on UPS's website for like $89? I work in retail and we don't operate like this. We treat people like people not like numbers, we don't try and price gouge people. I'd never use this place if I can avoid it. Make your label at home and ship or use USPS at least they are honest. Give this place a thumbs down a thousand times if I could. read more

A week ago, I sent a package through this store yet I had run out of packing tape, so I purchased some from their store and used it on the box. This time I was returning two opened boxes that Amazon would reimburse UPS to package, even though it was only a single piece of tape that was needed. The third item was boxed and almost completely sealed- it just needed one piece of tape, literally. However, my tape was at home. The store wanted to charge $2.17 for a single piece of tape, and even though I was giving them business from Amazon who was paying them to tape up the other two boxes (that also each only needed a single piece of tape.) For me, it was not an issue of two dollars, but the principle of the situation. So, I walked out and went to Staples that was just a few doors down from them. Staples had no issue putting a piece of tape on the box, and did not charge. I've had the same experience from the UPS store in Sayville, whose employees have also been very nice. I could understand if a box really needed to be packaged, and of course would have no issue paying for them to do it if I hadn't done it myself. But this was not the case at all. I obviously won't be going to their store anymore. The only reason that I went to them instead of Staples was because I had my young child with me and it was easier to pull right in front of UPS than park in the bigger lot. These rip-off artists get ZERO stars. (The review wouldn't post unless I chose at least one). Worst service EVER. One of our houseguests left his wallet behind over the holidays and we needed to get it back to him as soon as possible. The USPS was closed, where we could have shipped the wallet Priority Mail for $7.95, complete with tracking number, delivered in 2 days. We went to the UPS store and asked the clerk for assistance. We were shipping on a Saturday and wanted to get the wallet returned by Monday. The clerk took our shipping information and quoted us $66.32. I immediately said "whoa - that's way too expensive", giving the clerk the opportunity to offer alternatives - she did not. She claimed that was the cost if it were to arrive by Monday. She proceeded to ask if anyone would be home to sign for the wallet. I told her we needed to know about what time it would arrive, to which she said "by 7:00 am." We were not offered any choice as to time of delivery. She proceeded to inform us that this was the only option. After the wallet was delivered we learned from the recipient, who wanted to pay us back for the service, that the wallet could have shipped for $36.32, as quoted right on the UPS website. We also learned that the wallet was left on the stoop, no signature required. We went back to the UPS store to ask for a refund of $30.36 based on the fact that the clerk never informed us that there were shipping options, although repeatedly asked. We also informed the clerk that the wallet was never signed for. The clerk flat out REFUSED to accommodate us in any way for ripping us off in the amount of $30.32. We requested to speak to management, the clerk made a phone call and told us that they were refusing to make this right, even though we were grossly overcharged and did NOT even receive the service we paid for (signature at the door). I had to stop payment at my bank and file a dispute against them. I have been directed to file with Suffolk County Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau, which I will do upon completion of this warning to future customers. PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO THE UPS/FEDEX SHIPPING CENTER AT THE CORNER OF BROADWAY AND VETS HWY NEXT TO CONSUMER KITCHENS AND BATHS. I was displeased with this location of UPS. Not one but twice I have brought a package to be sent out as a return to Amazon. The first time they told me my packaging was inadequate because I did not use the right amount of tape so they decided to charge me to put a couple pieces of tape to send it out. Second occurrence was when I wrapped a medium sized box in thick brown paper and taped it securely with the label on it. They told me that a box needed to be placed in yet another box in order to be shipped. They wanted to charge me 12 dollars to do so. I left and went to staples that gave me NO problem what so ever to send it the way I wrapped it. It was perfect they said. I think this location likes to charge extra for no reason. Just go to staples when sending out boxes. You don't have to worry about any other costs rather than just the shipping of the item. read more

I made a purchase at a local auction house online, and needed it packed and shipped to Idaho. The item was a large antique stained glass window. It was in a weak condition, being very old and extremely fragile. They packed it extremely well in bubble wrap, foam peanuts and double boxed. The window arrived just as it was when purchased. The communication was excellent throughout the transaction. Also they collected the window from the auction house, packed and shipped the same day. After receiving price quotes from other shippers, I was pleased with the price I was charged. I would have them do it all over again, and highly recommend them to others. Beware though, you can tell they have been instructed to gouge you for as much as they can, even if you ultimately will not be getting the service you paid for.
