Needed to drop off a few returns at the UPS store and this is the closest one to me. The location is a super small storefront in Montclair but they get the job done. Fayez was the associate behind the counter who processed my returns and did so in an efficient manner. I had a few questions which he answered and I was on my way. Never have a good experience. Always try to charge you an absorbent amount for shipping boxes even when your items are sealed in boxes that they arrived to you in. Staff hastily told me I can go somewhere else, very rude. read more

I honestly don't get why the rating here is so low. A lot of the negative reviews seem pretty old, so maybe they're from prior management. My experiences have been nothing but positive. I've done simple drop-offs (fast, seamless, receipt right away) and also had items boxed and shipped. The staff was friendly, helpful, and the overall vibe was great. read more

0 starts. If you care about your packages this is NOT the location you should utilize. UPS lost my very expensive item and asked me to file a claim from here. Did so on 1.27.25 and was told that while inputting the claim, that system shut down, so it did not populate my details when I clicked on the claims link. I was also not able to upload any supporting docs. Hamza the rep stated he would update me. The manager was/is sloppy and unconcerned. To date 1.30 Hamza has not followed up with me about any status of my claim and I received an email that my claim was resolved for less than a quarter of what my item was worth. Was provided Luis Lascarro Area franchise manager's number and despite texting and calling got 0 response. Extremely poor customer service and this will NOT be my UPS of choice moving forward for any transaction. read more

I had a very upsetting experience at this UPS Store, located at (41 Watchung Plaza Montclair, NJ 07042). I brought my disabled mother, who is wheelchair bound, to have a document notarized. Because she had to wait outside in the car, the notary said that he will charge me extra to step outside and verify her identity. This felt discriminatory and unfair -- my mother should not be penalized for her disability. Notary services are supposed to follow clear state rules, and charging extra simply because a customer cannot physically come inside is not only wrong but deeply disappointing. Instead of showing compassion and professionalism, this notary (Inchol Yo) at this location added unnecessary financial burden to someone already facing mobility challenges. I strongly hope UPS corporate addresses this issue, so no other disabled customer is treated this way. Businesses should be accessible and accommodating, not punitive. read more

Extremely unprofessional and disappointing experience in the late afternoon of 03/06. I was made to wait mid-service while two employees stopped to eat their meal. When I politely asked to continue, I was met with blatant rudeness rather than an apology. The lack of basic customer service was so staggering that I ended up leaving without completing my shipment. Incredibly disappointing. I walked in at 5:10 Pm to have a single document notarized and was told that notary ends at 5 pm. Simultaneously the phone rings and someone called inquiring about notary services the guy was rude to the caller, hung up from the call looks me in my face and says, "yes???." I proceed to ask him is it a matter of it being illegal/unethical to notarize after 5 pm. He proceeds to tell me "I'm about to leave." So he was clearly the notary public on the premises and the store says it's open until 7 pm. Incredibly disappointing, inconsiderate and no regard for someone who took the time to come in Albeit 10 min after the time. Not an "I'm sorry" offered and sadly I'll need to take my small business needs elsewhere. Simply pathetic. Please consider who you hire and what true customer service is. 41 Watchung Plaza store lost my box. It was going to be an exchange for a Car Cover since the size was wrong. In order for the exchange to happen I needed to return the incorrect one. Now I don't have the cover and UPS is only refunding half of the cost so I am out $100. The lady who helped me was very confused on how to set up the address and label. It took her a half hour to try and figure out how to do the transaction.I packed the return box all she had to do was put the correct label on the box. When I found out that UPS was only refunding half the cost I complained to Peter the owner who said it was my fault I didn't put the extra insurance. I told him the lady who helped evidently his wife never asked me since she was so confused with the transaction. He was extremely rude and nasty. If you're going to any transaction other than Amazon beware you're going to have your box lost. read more

Amazon shipped it to me in the product box with the shipping label still on it. That was the original shipping container. He glanced over to where they sold boxes. I was just there and was absolutely shocked with the level of rudeness and condescending I was treated by a young man "the manager" name Chris Newkirk, he gave me his card, or better saying "he pointed out where his card was on the counter after. By reading another reviews I can tell that I wasn't the only person he mistreated and I wish @ups could provide better costumer service. While I was there waiting for his very unhelpful services I also heard him speaking to others costumes on the phone with the same rudeness and condescending. Avoid this place! Avoid this location at all costs! The owner, Peter, is extremely rude, and judging by all the negative reviews, this is his normal state - pandemic or not. I had come in to have something notarized, and I asked him if he needed to see all the documents (since his employee asked to see everything when I was there only 2 weeks prior). He rudely told me, "I don't care about Your documents, I just need to see you sign." And said my interaction with one of his employees was false. (DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD TELL ME ALL MY EXPERIENCES, PETER, WITHOUT EVEN BEING THERE!) And because I asked for clarification, he asked me "Why are you speaking to me this way? I already told you three times." When my husband said, I'm sorry you're having a bad day. He replied with, "I was having a good day until you came in and gave me a bad day!" My husband said he didn't have to be a jerk to us, so Peter refused to notarize documents after we already signed them for him to witness. Go to the FedEx/UPS in Upper Montclair. Comically bad customer service via Peter the owner. No help whatsoever in trying to access their UPS system to print some legal documents who defaulted into blaming my iphone and google for their unwillingness to allow access to their wifi, or problem solve. My experience at this store nearly cost me the contract I was having them notarize, which they did incorrectly, and then refused to issue a refund. I understand mistakes happen, and that notarizing across state lines is a complex process, but a) it's bad business policy not to refund a customer if the service you provide was incorrect, and b) it should be the business that takes the hit for this, not the customer. This has never been a pleasant experience for me over the years, but today takes the cake. I am writing this review while steam is coming out of my ears. Going back several years: had very important documents to have notarized. Dude (owner) wrote wrong YEAR. Had to go back when he was there, which turned into a game of hide and seek in order for the documents to be notarized again. I was none too pleased when he tried to charge me again. Whaaaaat? He said "You should have come back right away and I would not charge you." So i outlined all of the days/times and calls I tried to reach him. He reluctantly let me NOT pay for a second notary charge from HIS mistake. Yesterday: dropped off Verizon cable boxes packed in boxed Verizon sent to me. I was informed by employee at UPS Store that they were asked by Verizon to repack all cable boxes brought in by customers so I would get a new tracking number. I think its a complete scam to bilk Verizon because why on earth is Verizon sending rigid boxes with cardboard inserts if they just want to spend more money for the UPS store to repack at their will? I gave the guy my email and phone number written on a piece of paper. (for the record, my email address is my full first and last name spelled out.) I asked for a receipt, because if the two boxes and two remotes get lost I would end up paying over $700 to Verizon. They said they couldn't do it right then and it would take about an hour. Received a phone call an hour later to pick up receipt. OK. no problem. Went back today: No one knew what receipt I was talking about, but assured me "everything was probably fine". Call me skeptical, but "probably fine" is not a guarantee that the boxes were packed and shipped out. I need a tracking number. The whole idea for inventing tracking numbers is so people can TRACK THEIR PACKAGES DURING SHIPMENT. I said "well, I came here for the receipt you called me about yesterday so I need a receipt and verification that you did in fact send the cable boxes back." The kid spent more time telling me what he could not and would not do for me. He said he "didn't work yesterday" so I replied "I'm not asking about your personal schedule, I'm asking for a receipt that is supposed to be here." After 10 solid minutes of arguing with this kid, he begrudgingly printed a receipt for me. Then I noticed they had transposed the letters in my email address. He INSISTED i gave it to them wrong, so I said "You already told me you were OFF yesterday, so how do you know I gave it to them wrong? And besides, I've been writing my own name for about four decades so I think I have it down pat." First: Asking for 10 minutes to have a receipt printed that was supposedly already somewhere in the store was ridiculous. Hearing both employees say "Eh - we dont feel like looking for it" was absolutely priceless. Thank you gentlemen, for being honest enough to state out loud to me, the customer, that you are too lazy to look for a piece of paper. If anyone still has questions about the poor work ethic in this country, just stop by the UPS Store to see how it has crumbled radically. Second: asking for an email to be sent to the correct address and being told "our system doesn't allow us to resend emails" was like this company/employees just crawled out of a cave and have never used a computer before today. Third: the whole experience was so frustrating and the kid is obviously not the person who should have a job working with people or dealing with cable boxes that Verizon charges $280 each for if they don't get them back (remotes are extra). It was the equivalent of asking the employee to do an emergency lobotomy on the spot. All of a sudden, The Montclair Post office is looking like the best "bad place" in town to ship a stupid package. read more

I was kicked out of this place by the owner for packaging my own box in a "commercial box" which supposedly cant be shipped by ups. This was a box the had a company name on it " " , even tho I crossed out the name of the company with a black marker. I told the owner I would never return. I was charged $5 to pick up a package sent to this UPS Store by UPS. I have had multiple UPS packages that require a signature re-routed to this location but was never charged this fee. I figured why waste the drivers time & have it re-routed when it could just go directly to one of their stores - apparently that's a big pain for this location. When I questioned this new fee I was given a major attitude for having it directly sent to the store & questioning this fee. I called UPS customer service who informed me that this was not their policy; that because this location is individually owned and not corporate it's the business owners policy. I called multiple UPS store locations in the surrounding towns - they don't charge this ridiculous fee. read more

This place is fine as long as they don't have to address a problem. I had an important package sent over night. The UPS driver could not find the delivery address and my package ended up being late. I called UPS, who admitted it was their fault and would issue a full refund through the store. I went and spoke with the owner, and he told me he would refund the difference between overnight and 2 day even though he was being refunded the entire amount. The owner completely lied to me and told me he has a franchise and didn't have to abide by UPS policy. After a serious argument, and having UPS customer support on the phone while in the store he finally agreed to my refund. I've heard similar complaints from others. However, the staff is friendly. This UPS store is a lot more expensive then others in the area. I came into this location to have one page notarized and the notary charged five dollars for one page. I've been to other UPS store locations and the notaries usually charge a lot less. The only reason I went into this location was to save time driving to the UPS store in West Orange. I'll continue to make the drive for better customer service and lower notary prices. read more

The service here was horrible. We needed a notary and when I asked he said he needed two witnesses and sent me on my way. When I went back in he gave me the utmost attitude saying they'd be there in 5-10 minutes. With the many ways to have packages and mail picked up at your home or dropped off in Watching Plaza already, plus all banks offering notary service, I am never entering this store again. Watching plaza would be much better off with a modern more practical store. Get these guys out of here. Business with such poor customer service should be shut down. Two store employees proved totally ignorant of the manner of processing authorized Amazon returns. For return of products purchased directly from Amazon, Amazon simply requires customers to return products to a UPS store. The UPS store simply scans the Amazon bar code on the return authorization, accepts the item, and provides whatever packing is required pursuant to shipping. Customers are not required to do any packaging whatsoever. In this case, on July 30, UPS employees sent my wife, a senior, back into searing heat to retrieve the original Amazon shipping carton and make a second trip to the store. They did not know to scan the return authorization barcode. They subsequently criticized my wife for failing to tape up the shipping carton. When I called the store to inform them of Amazon's return shipping policy and complain of my wife's treatment, the store employee (who alleged to be the manager) refused to discuss the matter with me,. As I tried to speak, he simply intoned over and over, with mounting anger, that I had been given the wrong information. Amazon's customer-friendly return policies are well-established, and I called the store only after confirming them by phone with two different Amazon "returns" specialists. Both Amazon representatives were so aggrieved at the abusive treatment we received that each insisted on adding $15 to our Amazon account by way of apology. UPS was horrified at the treatment we received and the store' employees' ignorance of Amazon return policies. They are investigating the incident at both local and corporate levels. If you are looking for a UPS shipping facility where employees are rude, patronizing, ignorant, potentially abusive, and prone to psychological meltdown, this is your place. Otherwise, avoid like the plague. read more

The Asian gentleman that works there has zero interest in serving a client- if your box is taped Pre paid and ready to go use this facility and drop it and go- but do you need an employee for that. He lied about the regular post office shipping fees to try to get me to send my other package UPS, which I was quite sure about.
