This is my first, and hopefully last, interaction with this group. When I arrived home after an…read moreout-of-town visit, I found a sticker from UPS on my door indicating that I had a package to pick up at Goin' Postal. A signature was required for delivery. The package was sent to me on 8/6/26 via UPS Next Day Air. 1. On Monday (8/10/26), I went to pick up the package but was informed that it wasn't there yet and would be available the following day. UPS shows they delivered the package to Goin' Postal on 8/10 at 10:33 AM. 2. On Tuesday (8/11/26), I returned to pick up my package, only to be told again that it was not there, despite UPS tracking indicating it had been delivered to them. This was confirmed by an employee who was able to retrieve the tracking number. Nonetheless, he said the package was not there, even though UPS stated it had been delivered. Before I left, I was promised a phone call at 5 PM that evening, but the call never came. 3. I called Goin' Postal shortly after 5 PM to express my concern. It took several attempts to get someone to answer the phone. The lady I spoke with informed me that UPS was incorrect and they did not have the package. I told her that was between her and UPS, and she abruptly hung up on me. 4. On Wednesday (8/12/26), a lady named R...... called me and asked for the tracking information so she could follow up on the shipment. This information was apparently available to her, just as it had been to the employee the previous day. The information was never provided to me by either UPS or Goin' Postal. I had to go back to the sender to obtain it and verify that the package was indeed with Goin' Postal. 5. On Thursday (8/13/26), I called Goin' Postal again. I reached the answering machine but could not leave a message because I did not have a "mailbox number." As of today (8/14/26), the package is still missing. Again, this was sent via UPS Next Day Air. I refuse to believe that I am the only person who has had a bad experience with this group. Because the package contents are valued at several hundred dollars, I filed a lost shipment claim with UPS in an effort to help locate it, something they should have done.

The store doesn't have a huge inventory and what they do carry is pricy. Their Easy Rewards loyalty program is solid. About once a month, they will run an offer on Duracell batteries - 100% back in rewards. I buy a $30 pack of AAA's and get $30 in my rewards account. Using my funny math, it's free batteries, but really, it's free paper or ink that I purchase with those rewards. Before Christmas they had 100% back on Crayola products. I recently saw one for Papermate pens. It gets better. Did you know that you can earn a few dollars of store credit every month by bringing in something to recycle? The list of recyclables is long and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There is the whole list of typical batteries and chargers. But regular alkaline batteries count too. So do used notebooks, pens and pencils. If you're making a Costco run, it's no big deal to swing buy the large, empty parking lot, recycle a pen that you just dug out from amongst the French fries under the car seat and roam around looking for batteries and new gel pens.

I visited Calvin's Cleaners out of convenience--location, location, location, right? They had one…read morestar on Yelp...from 7 years ago. They have two (more current) five star reviews, both short and disqualified by Yelp's AI. The one star review was a little confusing, mentioning a drop-off in Athens and a pickup in Ardmore, yet this location isn't really Athens (technically by mail delivery perhaps). Maybe they moved? I decided to give them a shot. Besides, seven years is a long time for a legitimate one star business to survive. Nestled at the corner of Capshaw and East Limestone Road, the sign on the door says "Same Day Service." That concerned me a little because this time I was actually proactive (for a change) and not in a rush. I didn't want to pay more for same day service when I didn't need it. Not a problem, though--their default service is a 48-hour turn around. I dropped off on Monday and was told with confidence that I could pickup Wednesday afternoon. That works for me as long as the dry cleaning time doesn't turn out days late like many Amazon deliveries :). I dropped off a suit, shirt, and additional sports coat for cleaning. Starch on the shirt for crisp creases that stay. They gave me two pickup tickets (one for the suit--my son's) and one for the sports coat (mine). Very observant of them! Friday visit--I wasn't notified that my stuff was ready for pickup, but it had been ready as promised. Small-town, the lady remembered me. I had my tickets, but didn't really need them to pickup my stuff. The suit, shirt, and coat was $22. They did a fantastic job on all articles. I'm a happy customer. I am giving Calvin's Cleaners five stars because 1) I like to shop local/home town, 2) they did a fantastic job, 3) very convenient location, 4) decent price, 5) good customer service, and 6) somebody needed to start the process of making right on the travesty of a one star Yelp rating. Calvin's Cleaners has my dry cleaning business from this point forward.
