This Saturday morning, we had the store to ourselves. They didn't have what we came for but we did find a couple of chargers that we needed that were on clearance. The store doesn't have a huge inventory and what they do carry is pricy. Their Easy Rewards loyalty program is solid. About once a month, they will run an offer on Duracell batteries - 100% back in rewards. I buy a $30 pack of AAA's and get $30 in my rewards account. Using my funny math, it's free batteries, but really, it's free paper or ink that I purchase with those rewards. Before Christmas they had 100% back on Crayola products. I recently saw one for Papermate pens. It gets better. Did you know that you can earn a few dollars of store credit every month by bringing in something to recycle? The list of recyclables is long and doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There is the whole list of typical batteries and chargers. But regular alkaline batteries count too. So do used notebooks, pens and pencils. If you're making a Costco run, it's no big deal to swing buy the large, empty parking lot, recycle a pen that you just dug out from amongst the French fries under the car seat and roam around looking for batteries and new gel pens. read more

We stopped by Staples where Amazon has a return station inside. Inside I was greeted by a smiling employee asking me if I need help with a return. I walked up to the counter and the nice customer service representative helped me with returning a pair of crocs that were too large for my husband. The whole return process was less than 5 minutes. I was given a 15% off coupon to use in Staples that day. I will remember the store coupon for a return next time I go there. We will buy more file folders. Today I walked into the empty store (one customer leaving) at @9:45 am, 12/26/25. Two employees were at the print desk: an older African American female w/grey hair (50's) and a very young, thick African American male (20's). I walked to the ink section, where I couldn't find my ink in stock. While there, an announcement was made that a "customer needs assistance in the ink section". I turned and waved to the two employees. It was evident to me they were talking about me, and one of them shouted something to me. At 65 with diminished hearing, I waited for one of them to approach. Neither did. I put my hands up to my mouth and shouted "I'm looking for HP 91 ink" (wrong number, but it's irrelevant to this experience). At that point, the chubby male sauntered over, avoiding breaking any possible land speed records held by tortoises. Once he was in ear shot, I told him again what I was seeking. He nonchalantly scanned the ink board that I was staring at and searching for the previous 5-10 min. not finding it myself. He then "scurried" (it was actually a slow waddle) into the backroom where he disappeared for approx. 30 sec., returning with the revelation of "We all outta 91." This came as a shock to me (not really, as I could basically see various other empty slots). He told it would have to be ordered. I then explained to him why I was in there to begin with, having previously order said ink cartridge 16 days earlier, and when I hadn't received it, I cancelled it. I also told him I've been a business customer at THIS store since Day One, and in 1999 I was the Operations Manager for the brand-new STAPLES Forum in Los Angeles (neither of which is relevant to this experience either, except defining my personal history of working with and shopping this wonderful brand). I was terribly disappointed with the complete lack of customer service- both in the previous "shipping" issue and now the in-person treatment. I'm embarrassed for the brand and this store, in particular, and even more angry for the people of South Huntsville to be treated this way by such a store. For the record, I drove out to OFFICE DEPOT on University, where they had what I was looking for and was helped by "Keith"- an African American male of about the same age as the Staples employee. Their store made $80 on the purchase, and Keith earned a $20 tip for going above and beyond in helping me find the right ink (researched my printer model and found the right ink cartridge). Being friendly and helpful is all we expect from customer service, and the difference between the two businesses was a chasm of disappointment. read more

Not a bad experience here but a heads up and a not good customer service experience. I went to get copies for a community newsletter. It was one page. I asked the young lady if she could do it and she said now? I told her now or I could come back and pick up later. She said she could do it now. When I got the bill there was a 8.95 express charge on it for doing it as a walk in. She never told me there would be an extra charge for the walk in service. Luckily the print dept manager was there and he waived the fee except for .01 cent. I told him I would be needing more printing that involved about 20 pages. He offered to give me a quote. We stepped over to the computer and as he started putting in the info for the quote, the girl asked for help with another print job. He literally walked away from a customer in mid conversation to help her and left me standing by the computer. I walked away. If the other printing store in our town wasn't farther away, I probably would never go to staples for my future printing. I still may not. read more

The following review is for the experience I had with Staples corporate customer service. I bought a gaming chair from Staples in Mansfield Texas in March 2020. The seat bottom for the chair recently made a popping noise when I was leaned back in it and the seat bottom became slightly canted to side, I was unable to fix it myself, thinking it had been over 2 years since I purchased the chair it was no longer under warranty. Then more recently the hydraulic strut that raises and lowers the chair quit working. I was thinking about buying a new chair when I came across the owners manual and original receipt for the chair. The owners manual stated that it had a 7 year warranty. I called customer service, they had me send them a picture of the original receipt, they were going to send me out a new seat bottom and hydraulic strut, the customer service rep. said the struts were on back order so they were going to send me a new chair and I could do with old one whatever I wanted. Within 8 days of my call I had a new chair delivered to my house. That is some great customer service. read more

I have been shopping at Staples for many years, both personally and professionally. Today I encountered an incredibly rude individual working in the printing department. Her point may have been valid, but could have been made in a more customer friendly way, however that is not how she chose to handle the conversation. I asked to speak with the manager because they can not fix a problem if they are unaware one exists. Daniel, the assistant manager on duty, came over and corrected the problem immediately. Wouldn't recommend Staples for printing services. Tried to get help on the printer and "Brittany" couldn't bring herself from behind the counter to help. She was not disabled and she had no other customers. When I wanted a refund on my one incorrect printed page she didn't even refund the whole amount. Terrible customer service and the price wasn't great either. Shop elsewhere. read more
