When my 2017 MacBook Pro stopped working, I took it to the Apple store for them to offer to replace my Logic board for $500 after only doing a basic diagnostic test and not even looking inside. I knew something could be wrong with the SSD because it wasn't booting correctly, and it bothered me that Apple went straight to a board replacement without even looking into the cause of the problem. I decided to go to Protek because, after reading the reviews, I was confident that they would at least be able to figure out exactly what was wrong. And boy did they. Apparently the problem was with the Logic board all along, and we figured that out after an initial SSD replacement didn't work. They tried everything they could to avoid a costly replacement on my part, but when it did finally come down to it needing a new Logic board, they not only kept it overnight to make sure the problem was solved, but they also gave me a discount on the replacement. Overall, the service was excellent and affordable. I will probably get several more years out of this laptop, when the next best option would've been to buy a new one. I hope I never have to see them again (because I hope nothing else breaks!), but if anything goes wrong with my devices again, I will be going back to Protek. Also, shout out to Clint! He was super kind and helpful and explained everything very thoroughly so that it made sense to me, since I'm not great with computers and technology. He does a great job and clearly really cares about his customers! read more

My 16 year old, self built gaming/music tower finally died. The games I could recover, but had about 10,000 tunes digitized from vinyl on it. ProTek was able to pull everything off the corrupted SSD and the ancient hard drive, put it on a smaller desk top, and get me back to wasting prime time. Very professional guys. read more

My gaming desktop quit working and initially I took it elsewhere because it was the only HP authorized repair business in the area. Big mistake! I contacted ProTek after that fiasco and even though it was after hours, even though they're so busy right now that it probably would've been a week before they could get to my machine, Clint took the time to walk me through diagnosing the problem. He was able to narrow down the issue in a matter of minutes, when the other place wasted over a week and my money. My computer was hacked and ransomware installed. What could have been a terrible experience was made a simple fix wit ProTek. I took my computer in two hours after the hack. They had it cleaned and up and running by the next morning. Awesome service great price. read more

TL;DR: These guys are terrible at calling back and don't do what they say they're going to when they say they're going to do it. The dishonesty is a bigger issue to me than anything else. They lied that they had ordered the part twice, repeatedly lied that they would call me when it came in, and (most importantly) lied that two (2) screws (his words: "a couple") were stripped when actually seven (7) were. These guys are beyond incompetent, and in my industry dishonesty is a huge issue. Those who lie lose their job. Friday, June 16th: I called ProTek asking if they could fix the screen on my android phone (Motorola Droid Maxx 2, 1.5 years old) and spoke with Malaz (first name) who said that they could fix it. Saturday, June 17th: Brought the phone in and was told that the part had to be ordered and would be in within the week. Paid $55 (half the cost of the repair) deposit and Malaz said I would receive a call when the screen came in. Tuesday, June 28th: I had not received a call about the screen and it had been almost two weeks. Called ProTek. Was told the the part was taking longer to be delivered than expected and they were sorry. I expressed frustration, and reiterated that I expected to be notified as soon as the part came in. Wednesday, July 12th: Had not received a call. Called ProTek and asked if the screen had come in and was informed that it had never been ordered (this time I spoke with Clint). **Please note: the first time I came in I was told by Malaz that he ordered the screen when I made the initial payment.** He said he would order the part and overnight it, then corrected himself and said that the fastest it could be there was 2-3 business days. I said I expected (a) a phone call no later than Saturday (to which he said it might come in after business hours so it would have to be Monday), (b) an email verifying that the conversation occurred and the part was in fact ordered. He agreed and I received the email. Monday, July 17th: No call from ProTek. I called at about 4:51pm right after getting off of work and was told that the part was in. I asked why I had not been called and the guy apologized and said they had been busy and hadn't got around to it. He said I could take it in that day or the next. Tuesday, July 18th: I arrived at ~6:30pm and was met by Clint. He took the phone to the back and said he could get it done by close, 7pm. He returned at 7:41pm with the phone, apologizing for taking so long and stripping two of the screws and warping the midframe. He said he would order the part and fix it at no additional cost. I said that was fine and paid the remaining balance of $57.50. Wednesday, July 19th: Around 12:30pm I noticed that the screen was separating from the frame on three sides. I also could not make calls because the speaker did not work. I called ProTek from a friend's phone and Malaz said to take it in and they would fix it. I brought the phone in at 1:30pm and Clint said he could re-adhere and that it would not take long. I explained to him my frustration with having to repeatedly call and drive to ProTek in the last month and he apologized and refunded the labor ($57.50). I waited until 2:40pm, at which point I had to leave to catch a meeting. Returned at 5:35pm and was told that the screen had not adhered and that I could either be refunded completely and just get another phone or they could try fixing it again at no additional cost, but no guarantee it would work. I chose reimbursement and walked out of there, hopefully never to return. Today: My brother and I took apart my phone and found that not two (2) but seven (7) of the screws were missing, and below the back the midframe had been cracked. Once the screws were replaced (salvaged from another broken phone), the microphone worked again and I could make calls. After this we used Krazy glue to adhere the screen back on, with small clamps holding it secure for drying. With a glass screen protector and OtterBox, the phone seems completely normal. I just wish I'd done this initially (it took 1.25 hours), rather than wasting a month and at least 7 hours driving, waiting, and talking on the phone with people who don't have enough self-respect to get it right the first time. read more

If you are having a problem with an Apple computer or tablet these are the go to guys. They were able to retrieve data off the hard drive of an Apple desktop that seemed like a lost cause. My wife and I both have Apple iPads, hers needed a new battery, mine needed a new battery and had a bad component on the circuit board. Hers they were able to fix right away and it works great. Mine sadly was a loss, the repair costs would have been more than the tablet was worth. They explained the problem in clear every day language, not geek speak. I know that they spent several hours trying to come up with a fix that made economic sense, yet since they couldn't do that they didn't charge me for the attempt. I find these guys to be knowledgeable, dedicated and honest. If I have future Apple problems I'm coming back to ProTek and I recommend that you should too. read more

I've used Protek several times for Laptop services and repair. I've used them to rebuild my hard drive, reinstall Windows, diagnose boot problems, etc. They have always been extremely professional, very knowledgeable and very customer focused. Their prices are really reasonable and they do what they say they are going to do. I highly recommend Protek and will only use and recommend them to others. I have a very different opinion of ProTek than what was expressed in a 7/22/17 one-star review. I have interacted with ProTek personnel at least 6 different times over the last year. Every time it was a 5-star experience. On one of those occasions a mistake of some sort was made. I don't remember what it was, but what i do remember is that they took ownership and made it right without argument, and my computer was returned to me in timely manner and working perfectly. Even that experience was 5 star in my opinion. The fact that ProTek is transparent and forthright when an error is made speaks to their high level of integrity. During visits for computer repair, i have had occasions to observe how different employees interact with other customers. What i saw was utmost respect, demonstration of exceptional knowledge, and helpfulness given to everyone. My own experience has been in every case that the person I had contact with was so professional that I actually thought I must be talking to the owner himself! On this particular visit I had a damaged DVD drive door and a notification of a corrupted file. I dropped my machine off at about 2 PM and had it back, repaired, around 6:45 PM. Every single time I've had work done at ProTek, the employees have treated me well and clearly demonstrated that they know what they're doing and what they're talking about. I like that they are willing to take time to explain in some detail, and in language that a non-techie can understand, what the problem was and how it was corrected. If it can't be corrected or there is some other issue, that explain that too. I'm glad I found ProTek and wouldn't think of allowing anyone else touch my computer equipment. Forget to mention: In over a year of doing business with ProTek, they have not failed to call me with updates or to let me know my machine was ready to be picked up - not a single time. read more

Pro Tek had my Moto phone off and on for 3 weeks. After being given wrong information and lack of knowledge on their part, I have had to send it back to Moto to be fixed correctly. They have not offer a refund for the poor work or time spent to return it to them. Offered to do more work at cost which after talking to Moto was unnecessary. They lack the ability to test and find out what is going on. They are not worth the energy to talk to them. They are polite and seem eager to help but the outcome is less than acceptable. read more
