As a small business owner who ships a lot of packages, I frequent UPS stores in the area around my home and business. The Lake Orion UPS store by far has the worst customer service. The main individual who works the counter has yelled at me for touching a tape dispenser, has treated me like a child and it just downright rude on a regular basis. Today while I was serviced by the younger man whose customer service was very similar to the first man and witnessed older man be completely rude and downright insulting to the intelligence of another customer. Only 1 star because they were open. I had (2) Packages to ship both boxes I had grabbed from work that were shipped by UPS with UPS on the boxes. The employee without my approval decided that I need UPS boxes instead of the UPS boxes I had ready to ship. Both boxes were Christmas presents that were wrapped. They charged me $6+ tax for each box, $2+ tax for tape for Each box and $1 for misc for each box. The total amount charged was $55 which was the cheapest option, which was near the $60 I paid for the gifts. There was a large line behind me or I would have spoken my mine. I will drive out of my way in the future instead of being ripped off by this store. If you are shipping anything with them, I would get the costs for every item including boxes, tape, Misc so you know the total cost of each item so they do not overcharge you for there services!!!! read more

Owner incredibly rude. I take a box in every month to be taped up and sent out. They charge $2 for this service. Apparently this woman believes that I'm not entitled to common courtesy and good customer service, because I only spend $2 a month. She all but admitted this to me when I confronted her about her rudeness. Then she told me not to come in anymore, and to go to the Pontiac store to have it shipped. I said fine, and asked for my $2 back. She REFUSED. Treated me like dirt, told me she doesn't get any money from my business, told me not to come back, and then REFUSED to return my money. "I already taped it." That was her reasoning. The WORST customer service I have ever received, anywhere. I have been using this store for this simple service for almost 2 years. I have always been given a friendly greeting, friendly service, and usually even nice small talk. Not from the owner. Not today. She also accused me of coming in with a chip in my shoulder. Nothing could be further from the truth. My dog just had serious surgery. I just got him back, and he's doing great! I spent this morning walking with him outside. This is one of the nicest days I've had in 6 months. Until that woman ruined it. I don't spend enough? Well, I run a $6 million per year business. Today, on Friday the 13th 2015, I went to the UPS store to drop off merchandise as per instructions of Drone Motor City Company. The latter gave me the address of that UPS Store on 540 N. Lapeer Road in Orion Twp MI. There, I found 2 elderly clerks manning the store. I asked them politely to forward to box #365, according to Drone Motor City Co. website. She waved me off and told me fill out form which wasn't applicable to the merchandise I was dropping at the store. I patiently waited for the second clerk to finish helping a customer and asked if I could drop my merchandise on box #365. She rudely waved me and told me to pack my merchandise and fill out forms. This time, I called Drone Motor City Co. and asked them of what was going on with this UPS Store which refused to pick up delivery as stated on their website. Erin, the spokesperson for the Drone Motor City Co. asked to talk to the manager. At first, she rudely refused stating Federal regulations forbade her from talking on the phone or accepting delivery! She finally consented to talk and had another argument with Erin about signing some missing paperwork. On the phone with Erin, she rudely said that I didn't understand English seeing that I was an Asian. Typical racist American attitude for anything that is not Caucasian like them. After a heated talk with Erin on the phone, that woman from UPS Store acknowledged she knew of box #365 and of having a UPS account with Drone Motor City Co. So she did LIE to me about not knowing anything about it and on keeping on insulting customers' intelligence. When I asked why she lied to me about that, she claimed that Federal laws and regulations made her lie!! read more

I think this needs to be said and I almost dressed down the employee myself but it was just too awkward. Without getting into some specifics because I don't want the innocent getting into trouble, let's say an employee was making an extraordinary effort to be at work. She was there where many would have had to stay home and I imagine she had to be there for reasons of personal need. I respected the hell out of her decision. But one employee, and I didn't see her badge so I can only describe her as a larger woman with black curlyish hair was clearly annoyed by her coworkers extraordinary effort and saw it fit to clearly show how annoying it was. The innocent employee has been nothing but very nice and helpful to me every time I've been there. I think her name is Crystal I could be wrong on that. The employee who was taking my order could see that I could see what was going on and looked at me and mouthed "wanna work here?". I'm seeing some reviews that reflect an attitude and I'm willing to bet that some of these bad experiences have been with this person. I'm not certain retraining her is possible as some people clearly do not have the capacity to turn on their nature. Bravo for Crystal for making it happen, even if she wasn't able to fire on all cylinders. Boo for employees who don't respect each other when they see someone putting in the extra effort. read more

I have always had a great experience with this location. The staff is helpful, friendly, and efficient. My packages are always handled professionally and items are packaged with care. I contacted this UPS store after buying three items from Midwest Auction Galleries. I needed my 3 items pick up and ship to me in California. I called and spoke to Bryan at this ups store. His attitude was curt, rude, and dismissive. I called the auction company just down the street, they informed me that they do not recommend that ups store because they are rude to their customers. Worst customer service experience, Today I went into this UPS location with my elderly family members, and the women behind the counter was nothing but rude and inpatient to them. She was demanding and said a lot of rude comments to them. I later called to speak with a manger because of how my family was treated and how the employees should be a little more understanding with older people, and offer more help. Turns out the rude lady was the OWNER. She raised her voice at me, and began to tell me how that she understands why I'm complaining because "Christmas brings out the worst in people" blaming me for this situation. I go to this UPS store now as my favorite one now. They are always very helpful and have a very clean store. I had some very heavy boxes to ship and they volunteered to help me carry them in without any hesitation. They fill out the paperwork very fast and are also friendly. I'm not sure why the other reviews are giving them bad ratings as I've always had a good experience here. I ship items out every few weeks and every time they have been very helpful and kind. For those reading the negative reviews, I would truly disregard them as I've never had this experience. I too have a number of odd-sized packages going out, so they make the process of shipping them very easy and fast. read more

I use the Lake Orion UPS Store about 2-3 times per year, and have had nothing but efficient, courteous service, both at the store and on the phone. Shipped a return item today at my expense and the woman that assisted me completed the data entry without having me transfer the information into their form (I had the address, phone number, and brief content description printed out from the vendor's RMA form, and my info was pulled from their database since I had shipped there before). She had me verify the recipient's address and sign the printed form, was courteous throughout and I was on may way. After initially giving a 4-star review (I very rarely give 5 star reviews), I updated to 5 stars, since they exceeded expectations on my last visit. read more

Unfortunately this is my local UPS store, I wish it wasn't.... at times the service was ok, other times down right horrible!!! in my last experience, I stopped to get some items printed and one thing faxed. As I stated that I needed my document faxed, the employee took it from me and just sent it... only to find out it was a dollar a page after the fact. Not to mention he simply punched out and left without saying a word to me... I can say I've never had a person literally leave in the middle of providing service to me!! So the next employee came up to me and carried on with me.. only for me to question her and state "he was helping me" and her response? "oh, he's going home." nothing more was said.. Long story short everyone...believe the other ONE STAR reviews...the owner Brenda was incredibly rude to me. She raised her voice at me over the phone, berated me, acted hostile, and quite honestly really hurt my feelings. I remained calm and never once acted frustrated towards her. At one point she started insinuating that I was insulting her subordinate, Crystal when I was simply trying to explain that there was miscommunication between us due to Crystal explaining something differently to me. Crystal was very pleasant even though she couldn't assist me very much the day before without her owner's help. I never had a problem with Crystal.
