I was sending two packages to a trade show. I didn't use the online UPS where I have an account because there were no instructions to drop ship the boxes to the UPS store where I was going to have them sent. The price would have been $266. So, I made the mistake of going to the UPS store in Gig Harbor, WA and was not allowed to use my account number and was charge $408 for the same packages. I also included my full name and telephone number. It has been 10 days, and there has been no response. See the OG message below. Can you offer me a corporate email address if you are unable to answer? I was at your UPS store Yesterday to drop off a $3000 Expresso machine from Breville. The Box had a label, and Morgan asked me if I needed a receipt. I said, "Yes because it was a 3000-dollar espresso machine". The Box had Fragile written on six different spots, and I mentioned it needed to be handled with extra care. He forcefully slammed it onto the scale, causing a resounding thump. I informed him that the machine cost $3000 and was fragile and requested that he handle it with extra care. However, he did not apologize and acted as if nothing had happened. Another employee with blond hair and a small ponytail briefly heard the conversation and came over. He told me that the fragile words on the Box meant nothing and it would go through a lot worse. I must express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your store. As a customer, I expect a certain level of quality, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of my expectations. I believe that by taking my feedback into account, you can improve your service and provide a better experience for your customers. Please consider my comments seriously and take appropriate action. They were treating your package no different than how we handle all others we receive and ship out. If packages are heavy, it may be difficult to move them onto our scales without making noise. When items come in unpacked, we do handle them with care. When we pack items, we pack them to withstand the rigors of shipping and are instructed by UPS on their packaging recommendations. We assume that when customers bring in packages that have already been packaged and labeled, the parcel is packaged appropriately. The guide that we get from UPS states that packages must be packaged to withstand the rigors of individual package shipping. UPS also expressly states that special handling labels do not mean anything. No package is treated differently with markings, as all parcels should be packaged to withstand all normal package handling that goes into shipping a parcel. All major courier services use warehouse-sized automatic package sorting systems that do not differentiate between fragile and non-fragile items. These sorting systems can have high-speed conveyor belts, package slides, and robotic loading systems. -Kathy My response....... Thanks for your response. Although I expected a reply, I understand that everyone's interpretation may differ. In your response, you said they treated my package no differently from others. Well, I hope not because, as stated in my letter, the package was not placed on the scale but tossed on the scale from a distance, and yes, it made a loud sound, but not from the weight but from the distance it was thrown and dropped from. The matter would have been dismissed had Morgan just apologized and the other employee not lectured me on what fragile means or does not. I spoke with the manager today (3/14/24) because I had not heard from you, and he was kind enough to resend the email. It ended up going to my junk mail. I explained to the young man that it's all about showing respect. To illustrate my point, I gave him an example. If you happen to see a police officer on the freeway, you shouldn't drive past them at high speeds. If you do get pulled over, a sincere apology would have been enough to defuse the situation. read more

Went to UPS Gig Harbor recently to ship a laptop. Given the content, I wanted to make sure it was packed properly. The couple of gentlemen who were there were great, showed and even helped me pack it and the guy at the counter was courteous and helpful as well. A lifesaver! We needed a Deed of Trust notarized and tried 2 other UPS locations (Gig Harbor Point Fosdick and 72nd and Portland Tacoma) and they couldn't help us. Either they didn't have a notary available or for the Point Fosdick location a lady said she couldn't do it on a busy Saturday. A very nice gentleman at the Harbor Hill location told us we could email the document to them and when we got there they would print it, notarize it, scan it back to the company and also mail a hard copy to them. Stopped in today to drop Amazon return, said would take it as label (Amazon issues) was not correct. Downright rude and condescending. Came back home, checked with Amazon and all was correct. Went another UPS location accepted package and label no problem! The problem with being the smartest person in the room is you don't learn anything. I've had a box at 3 different UPS stores over the years and this one is by far the best. They've never lost a package, and we get a ton of packages. Other stores have. They've always been real nice and know my wife and I by name. They just had a turn-over, I believe, and it's under new management, but they also seem nice. So I have zero issues with this place and plan on keeping our mail box there. read more

What a complete POS job with customer service today. I walked in needing a box for my amazon return. The cashier measured my item and found a box for me, then i asked how much it is to print my amazon return label, which i added to the total invoice for the day. After I pay, I ask if they can tape it up, and the gal says "that's a $31 charge" LMFAO.....$31!! ARE YOU FUCKING OUT OF YOUR MIND!! this is highway robbery at its finest. I just laugh out loud and said ill go to walgreens before I ever pay you $31 to tape up a goddamn box. So i go to walgreens in the same parking lot, but some tape for $3 and then realize the ups gal only printed out 1 page of the 3 pages of my label. So i walk back in and tell her to reprint the lable, and she just walks off and gets another employee. then the new employee tells me its going to be a charge! lol. ummmm no fucking way am i paying for it again! you failed to print it out the firs time and didnt stand up to your end of the service. after some bickering they caved and did not charge me. but have fun robbing people of $31... god i hope the rest of the world is not that incompetent to pay for that lazy ass service. Absolutely my favorite UPS store ever. The owners actually run the store, knowledgeable, service oriented, snd darn efficient. Recently my niece and I had to do memorial cards for a family member's Celebration of Life. Ok, I was a wreck, unexpected death and i was keyed up. The owner worked with us calmly, made great suggestions and just simply " handled" it. It was the nicest experience one could have during a terrible week. I felt like i had just left a counseling session lol.. if there were 20 stars, these folks would have it., no " millennials" shrugging their shoulders and pointing., experienced, professional and efficient. I'm in this UPS store several times a week and I ALWAYS come out with a smile on my face. They are all professional, kind and will go out of there way to ask how I am and how my day is going. ALWAYS. Went there to drop off packages the main entry door was locked during business hours but staff was inside would no acknowledge the locked door had to go to a side upon entry I asked about the door but staff was unresponsive didn't get an answer. Ups delivery guy was there and was being treated poorly by the staff they were being very rude to everyone this needs to be addressed. read more

Everybody at this UPS location is amazingly helpful - Val, Lynda, Chiara, and Armon. Armon help me bring in many boxes from my car, some of which contained fragile items. We had to divide the shipments up into three different groups. I was there visiting and helping a relative to send items to other relatives. So, they even recycled all the boxes and packaging that the items were originally in. Chiara worked systematically and efficiently to complete the job. Val helped to measure and plan out how they were going to pack each item to assure a safe delivery. They were polite and courteous even though it took about two hours to complete. Lynda made sure that I didn't have to pay more than necessary. It made what could've been a very difficult process extremely easy and pleasant. I highly recommend them for all your shipping needs! read more

Zero star if I could. I went to mail a package to Canada. I asked if there would be any fee charged for the person in Canada to receive it. He said no. If I send by UPS Ground I would bypass custom, hence no fees/duties. However, there was a fee charged for over $200. My recipient refused the package. I called this UPS store and the guy who helped me admitted that he wasn't aware of any charges. However, the owner told me that nobody in that store would tell me that there wouldn't be charges. Anyhow, it would cost me another $48 to ship the package back to me. I called UPS directly and had them return the package. However, they returned it to the UPS store. I went there to retrieve it and they said they couldn't give it to me. They need to make sure that there isn't additional charge for me to receive it. And they can't tell me what it is because they don't have access to the UPS account, only the owner does. And the owner is out of town until later today. Seriously? You work here but you don't have access to the UPS account and can't call them yourself. I called UPS and they said there weren't any charges. These people are holding my package as hostage. I go to this location at least 2 times a month. Although there is a mail box location closer to me, I still will drive the extra distance because the service at this store is excellent. I usually have the privilege of Armon helping me, this is the reason I go there. He is very professional and will not hesitate to help with large packages needing to be brought into the store. Gig Harbor is lucky to have two excellent UPS offices. The Harbor Hill facility is new. Today they saved me a lot of $$ by figuring out how I could efficiently return a $400 product to Amazon by refitting the product back into a shipping container that I was at a loss to do. I'd post a negative star review but alas I cannot. I was forced to stand in the rain because I can't wear a mask. Guess catching a cold is fine in the scheme of things right? I have literally shopped at Costco several times a month since the mask mandate and have NEVER worn a mask and I have never had an issue. Soooooooo, I understand that December 7th at a UPS Store can mean work overload for the employees. I get that. Yesterday I went to the UPS store in Gig Harbor. I was met with packages from floor to ceiling and a line snaking around the "to go" packages from front door to counter with only 2 customer service agents. As customers were helped, more people just kept on joining the line until it was congested and out the door. To make matters worse, the 2 people being helped had large complicated packaging needs which bottled up the whole system. The person whom I am guessing is the manager came out obviously flustered and began checking packages with her laptop near the front door and here is where my disappointment comes in, she begins with customers at the BACK of the line! So the people who had been waiting patiently the longest (nearly a half hour with no end in sight) near the front were supposed to watch with a smile as she checked out the people who were there the least amount of time. I said something to her and she explained that the owner was supposed to be there but didn't show up. That's a BUMMER. I will NEVER go to this UPS store again. Right is right. We all have places we would rather be than in line shipping packages. Take the people from the front of the line. read more

This UPS Store has restored my faith in UPS Stores! I am a box holder due to the nature of my work, so I'm a regular customer. I can say without hesitation that this is the best UPS Store I've frequented to date. I have closed my PO Box at 2 UPS Store locations in the past few years (one in Port Orchard and the other on Fosdick in Gig Harbor), due to abysmal customer service, long wait times, and avoidable inefficiencies. In contrast, the owners and staff of this location are super friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I used to literally dread going to the UPS Store in the past, needing to brace myself for what was likely to be a frustrating experience (example, the Fosdick staff allowed someone to blatantly cut me in line when I was 9 months pregnant), whereas now I don't mind--and even enjoy--giving them my business! Gig Harbor UPS store. Brought in a USPS Flat Rate BOX $19.99. Was charged 42$ (No extras, no packaging). When asked why my flat rate package was 20 bucks extra to ship they replied "we don't know the break down and it's whatever the computer tells us". Unfortunately I did not catch the extreme price inflation before i paid. Displeased they did not state that it will not be charged as a Flat Rate package. Will never go back read more
