10/16/25 They would not accept my return because it did not have a shipping label. Even thought the Amazon return instructions say to ensure there are no other shipping labels on the package. I have NEVER had an issue returning packages to any other UPS store. Update 10/17/25 - Packaged was dropped off at my usual UPS store. I decided to try him for a major ship - my classic vintage stereo receiver, nearly 50 years old. I packed it well in a single box, but asked him the price for an outer carton for added security. The price was fair, he made the box, packed it, and shipped it out the same day, and he wouldn't even let me carry the thing (60 lbs into his store from my car! This is absolutely the best UPS Store I have gone to. My wife and I needed wedding invitations printed and they were able to print them faster then expected and looking perfect. The price on the invitations was also much cheaper then competitors like Staples and FedEx Kinkos. They also have a large variety of other printing services that my family members have utilized such as canvas prints that my father has gotten. As far as customer service goes, I'm typically helped by Matt or Erik and they both do a great job and are always very efficient and friendly. Keep up the great work! Extremely disappointed in this store. Bought 2 windows at a local auction house, that uses this UPS store for shipping. They couldn't ship together , so had to pay double shipping and packaging. Received a notice after 3 weeks that one of the packages was damaged and returned to store. Received the other package a few days later. The window was completely smashed. There were no fragile stickers or anything to identify it as glass. There was a single sheet of bubble wrap around the window in the box. Notified the store that they were damaged and they applied for insurance claim. It took 2 MONTHS to hear back from them. The window I received did not have the insurance approved and the store said there was nothing they could do. Terrible business operations. Poor packing (and very expensive). No communication to customer for damaged caused by this store's employees. Asked for owner to call me - nothing. If you are purchasing items at the local auction house, go somewhere else to get it shipped. Demand that the auction house provide other options because this store doesn't care about your purchase - only overcharging customers for poor service. read more

Surprisingly, I ask shippers to not go crazy on packaging when the art is, say an oil on board; the extra packing is many times superfluous, and as an ex-airfreight forwarding exec it peeves me to needlessly pay extra for padding (pun intended.) Bought item at local auction house and needed it packed and shipped. Was given quote up front and agreed o it. I had specific instructions for packing, which this store agreed to do for additional cost. I agreed to it. When package arrived it looked like it was packed by a child with no idea of how to pack anything, and was not per agreed instruction. Slight damage, but store made adjustment to charges. I was not looking for adjustment to charges to get a cheaper price. I was looking for the item to be packed as agreed for the agreed higher price. Staff was friendly and business like, but the children doing the packing need to find other work. Will not return or recommend to others. read more

I would give this store a ZERO STAR! I would choose zero star if there is an option for it! The guys that works here are so terrible in packing items! The items that was sent to their destination were received damaged due to lack of protection especially on fragile items, items were bouncing around inside the box, terrible job on packing things! Customer service was horrible, very unprofessional. They OVER CHARGE shipping for a minimal protection, misinformed and misquote on shipping charges. Although they offer protection insurance on packages nothing is ever replaceable on those important/precious things that you entrusted on their care. Been in this store many many times. Always had great service until today. The associate Nikeita had this snarky attitude with me. I had to different items to return. One was direct tv equipment. The other was a personal return that I had the option of sending through UPS or the post office with my return label. Because I have always had good experiences I chose to return here. The box had the label but not taped up. I was told that it would cost me $2 for tape. I asked since when because I've never been charged in the past. She responded January. I said I've never been charged for tape. She proceeds to tell me that's policy. I said ok. I'll go to my car and get tape, which I did. Clearly I was visibly upset after struggling to bring my items in and being quoted $2 for a few cents of tape. When I returned from my car, I taped the box and sat it on the counter. I was asked to put it on the scale right next to where it already sat. If you know you have already upset me why push the envelope. She could have placed it on the scale but clearly her being in control was more important than trying to ease some of the tension. I left there pissed. Next time I'm given the option of using your store or your competitor best believe I'm not coming there. read more

This UPS was fantastic. I had about 12 decent sized boxes to unload and ship off. They offered to come out to my van and help bring them in. They helped bring them in. Reinforced the tape where necessary. Reran the labels and put them on for me. All of that may seem like something they "should" do but I've never had that before from any shipping location. I'd recommend this location in a heart beat. As a side note, as I waited while they processed the shipment, I observed the rest of the interactions between the staff and customers. I went in today to mail some boxes & cards. One employee offered to meter the for me. I said sure not knowing NOR did he offer the information that it was .60 instead of .48 for them to meter them. Not to mention to mail 8 boxes was $164! They completely took advantage of me. I will never ever again use the UPS store I don't really care why there is a difference. We drop off at least 40 to 50 boxes a month each box wight aboutr 25Llb.This time i went to diffrent store located at (847 SOUTH RANDALL ROAD ELGIN, IL 60123) I went to drop off boxes to this store. There were 2 male workers at the desk, 1-First off all they did not greead me as i entered the store. 2-They did not help with boxes. 3-I brought in 12 boxes some how they scanned 11. and refused to help me find the 12th box. I asked nicely first , with no luck i had to raise my voice to get there attention, 1 off the employ cursed and screamed at me. Saying he can,t he scanned all the boxes i brought in. and he is going to call police if i don,t leave his store. I gave him 2 options either i call ups or he can go with me and find the missing box.We finely found the missing box and he did not apologies for his bad behavior. Reason of review: very bad employee and management.. Monetary Loss: $500. Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution. I can't say enough about this UPS store. It stands head and shoulders above every other UPS store I've been to. I am greeted by name when I walk in, and their attention to each customer is fantastic. One thing I like to see is that each customer gets their undivided attention. They are concerned with the needs of that particular customer, and it makes them feel as though they are the only ones in the store. I've witnessed difficult, impatient customers treated with kindness, and patience. When that customer walked out of the door, the store employees made no reference of them to the rest of us. I had my wife take a package to the UPS Store in South Elgin, expecting that the rates would be a little higher than on UPS.com. Big mistake! Apparently the franchise UPS Stores are allowed to set their own price for service options such as Declared Value ("insurance"). The published retail rate for Declared Value on UPS.com is $0.90 per $100 of valuation. My wife was charged more than twice that: $1.82 per $100 of valuation. So a 5-pound package via UPS Ground with a declared value of $4,000 cost $88.44, with $71.12 of that being the declared value charge. Again, I expected the cost to be a little higher than the published retail rate, but a markup of over 100% is price gouging by almost any measure. When I called to express my dissatisfaction to the store manager (Matt), he listened to my complaint but said that it will not change their shipping practices. It certainly changed mine. I will choose to take my business elsewhere. read more
